“You’re going to lift the lockdown? So suddenly like this?”

“Yes. My mind has changed a bit.”

Walter gaped in astonishment and stared at his lord.

But Vlad ignored his sharp gaze and slowly walked toward the window.

‘It’s almost been a year since that child woke up.’

With his hands clasped behind his back, Vlad silently looked out the window.

Beyond his gaze lay a garden overflowing with blooming roses.

The rose garden his beloved consort and only love, Daphne, had so often visited.

Back when she was alive, he had deliberately built it near his office just to catch one more glimpse of her face.

‘I still remember clearly the first time I saw that child.’

As he looked down at the garden, Vlad recalled the day he met his infant daughter.

Of all days, it had been the very day Daphne appeared in his dream after a long absence.

“Vlad, didn’t I tell you you’d catch a cold sleeping in a place like this? How many times have I nagged you about this? And you’re still doing it?”

“…Daphne?”

“This isn’t the time to be asleep. You heartless man. Our child has awakened—how can you just keep working? Even if you can’t go to her right away…”
