It was just as I stood dumbfounded, mouth agape, staring blankly.

Wilhelm strode over and suddenly, without warning, pulled me into a tight embrace.

I wasn’t the only one startled by Wilhelm’s abrupt action.

When the people around us gaped at us with wide eyes, he finally noticed their stares, stepped back with an awkward smile.

“Sorry for startling you. I just got carried away—I’m that happy to see you.”

I looked at Wilhelm, who had grown into a fine young man befitting an adult, and gave him a slightly wry smile.

Though we’d grown close through letters, I never expected him to hug me the moment we met.

‘Was Wilhelm always this affectionate? He seemed much colder when we were younger.’
