The ashgrey eyes skimmed over Lisi’s throat.
It seemed as though he wanted to rip her throat out right there, his lips parting slightly then closing.
His damply sinking gaze brushed down Lisi’s neck to her chest, down to her abdomen.
A sharp gaze felt as if it pierced through her dress, touching every inch of her body.
She wanted to run away.
Indeed, it was a mistake to come to this man.
She knew very well how ferocious he, known as the stalwart guardian of the Holy Relic, actually was.
It was a mistake to think that he could protect me because he was ferocious.
It was like escaping from a beast and entering the beast’s den.
However, Lisi did not run away. She might have crumbled at the legs like the old Lisi, but she did not falter this time.

Lisi showed no signs of being perturbed and slightly raised her chin to face him.
At the unflinching gaze of Lisi, he twisted one side of his lips.
But there was no laughter in his eyes.
“I think I misheard.”
A low, heavy voice flowed between his lips as red as blood.
“Did the flower of the Witlow Duchy just propose to me? And came to me on her own?”
“Yes. Marry me, Earl Kevrant Green.”
Kev’s eyes narrowed.
It was not an amused expression.
It was a sharp gaze trying to figure out Lisi’s intentions.

“The flower of the Witlow Duchy.”
Kev approached and stood close in front of Lisi.
A cool scent, as if holding a forest, came from Kev.
“It seems like you don’t know what you’re saying.”
His hand slowly moved up towards Lisi’s neck.
A large hand reached towards Lisi’s slender neck as if to clutch it, but stopped before touching her skin.
“Do you know what marriage is?”
“I know.”
Very well, in fact.
“In that case…….”

The hand that had been stationary moved to touch Lisi’s neck.
A cold palm stroked down Lisi’s throat and stopped at her slender shoulder.
Lisi flinched, trembling, but did not take her fixed gaze off him.
“You must also know what a couple should do.”
Of course, she knew.
So well, it would be a shock.
Instead of speaking her mind, Lisi raised her index finger and pushed away Kev’s wrist resting on her shoulder.
Kev’s hand fell easily.
“We’re not married yet.”
Kev grinned, raised his hands slightly to signal surrender, and took a step back.

His eyes were still not laughing, which made Lisi feel somewhat eerie.
“Lady Witlow.”
He raised his hand to point at the door.
“Get lost.”
It was a rude and blatant rejection.
Any other lady would have been too embarrassed to even lift her head.
But not Lisi.
This level of shame is nothing.
If only she could get out of this house, if she could live properly, she could do anything.
Lisi held her head high and stared directly at Kev.

“The owner of the Huchis target, Alford, promised the Witlow Duke the Lavernt Gold Mine to have me. The Duke of Witlow plans to give me to Alford in return for the gold mine.”
“You’re being brief.”
“You started it. If you like being polite, you start. Then I’ll show you the appropriate courtesy.”
Kev’s eyes narrowed.
This time it was an amused expression.
Without saying a word, he stared intensely at Lisi’s face, then swiftly turned and walked to the sofa.
He plopped down on the sofa, crossing his legs, and pointed to the opposite sofa with his chin.
It was probably a sign to sit, but Lisi didn’t.
No one can command me now.
I control my life.

No one will be allowed to manipulate my life.
“If you give the Duke of Witlow the Benot Gold Mine you own, he will certainly hand me over to you. After all, the Benot Gold Mine is much larger than the Lavernt Gold Mine.”
“Do you think Lady Witlow is worth as much as the Benot Gold Mine? I don’t think so.”
“Isn’t the flower of the Witlow Duchy better than a soontocollapse gold mine? At least it hasn’t withered yet.”
A wrinkle formed on Kev’s forehead.
He must be curious how the flower of the Duchy knew the Benot Gold Mine was about to collapse.
But Lisi had no intention of answering that question.
Instead of voicing his question, Kev pointed to the door with his hand.
“I’ll say it again, Lady Witlow. Get lost.”
Seeing that Lisi had no intention of moving, Kev crossed his arms.

“I have no interest whether the flower of the duchy is brilliantly blooming or withering. It means you’re not worth enough for me to give up a soontobefailed mine.”
Kevrant said firmly, looking at Iris with indifferent eyes.
“So, Lady Witlo, scram before I break that pretty neck of yours.”
Kevrant didn’t care about the flower of the duchy, and Iris knew that already.
She had only poked before revealing her hand.
‘Is there no other option but to reveal it now?’
Iris took a quiet deep breath.
Revealing her hand meant risking her neck.
She didn’t know whether Kevrant would spare her or kill her once she showed her cards.
No one knew that Iris had visited the Earl of Green, and Kevrant was aware of this.

Maybe Kevrant intended to cover everything by killing Iris.
‘If I die here, it doesn’t matter.’
Iris knew what would happen to her next.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
