Iovert, entering Count Green’s residence, was immediately led to the reception room. As if expecting his arrival, Lisi was already waiting for him there.

Kai was not present.

‘She’s a perceptive woman.’

He wanted to speak with Lisi alone about this matter. He didn’t want to reveal, in front of his longtime friend Kai, how he’d nearly been betrayed by someone as insignificant as a merchant guild owner.

Lisi was dazzlingly beautiful today as well. She wasn’t wearing an especially elaborate dress, yet her cascading silver-red hair alone seemed to radiate light.

‘She was beautiful at the wedding too.’

Even after returning to the imperial palace, he’d thought of Lisi—not occasionally, but often.

He’d assumed the image of her in his mind was overly idealized, as if she were a goddess, but that wasn’t the case. The Lisi standing before him now was far more radiant than any image he’d imagined.

“Your Highness.”

As Lisi gently bowed her head, her loosely tied hair spilled over her straight collarbone like an ornament. Iovert found it difficult to avert his gaze from that collarbone.

With great effort, Iovert turned his eyes aside and spoke.

“Call me Io, Iris.”

“How could I possibly presume to use the Crown Prince’s given name? This is perfectly sufficient.”

Iovert didn’t insist a second time. Compared to other women, her voice was slightly lower and huskier, and he feared that if she uttered the name “Io,” he might harbor emotions he ought not feel.

‘Perhaps it would’ve been better if Kai were here.’
