Woo Jin frowned deeply as he slowly blinked down at the little girl, unamused by this uninvited guest who had suddenly intruded into his personal world. Yet the girl, undeterred by his sharp gaze, casually licked her ice cream and spoke with innocent cheerfulness.

“Last week, I saw you here too, oppa.”

“…….”

“And now I see you again.”

So what?

Woo Jin furrowed his brows. Just when had this shamelessly bold girl ever seen him, and why was she calling him “oppa”?

“My mom’s sick, so I come here every day. Who’s sick for you? Your mom? Your dad?”

He turned his head away, unwilling to answer—experience had taught him well that ignoring someone usually made them go away on their own. But unexpectedly, the girl proved persistent. Or rather, his indifference seemed to have absolutely no effect on her at all.

“You don’t have to talk if you don’t want to. But my mom has cancer. I don’t really know what cancer is, but apparently it’s really bad. My grandmother says it’s a nasty one.”

“…….”

“Nobody told me, but I know. My mom is going to die soon.”

For a moment, he wondered if he’d misheard, and turned his gaze back to her. The girl was still licking her ice cream.

How could she so casually eat ice cream while talking about her mother’s death? She looked barely one or two years younger than him—how could she be like this? It made no sense.

Did she not even understand what death was?

She seemed unbearably immature.
