Golden dust swirled amid the beams of light cast by the video projector.

The meeting proceeded nonstop for two hours straight. Exhausted to the brink of collapse, someone finally managed to suggest a break, and those who had steeled themselves for an all-nighter temporarily stepped away to seek caffeine as a countermeasure.

Jeong Hyeok, averting his gaze from the screen, pressed his palms firmly against his weary eyes. A deep silence settled over the room, and as he quietly recharged himself, savoring this brief moment alone, his phone on the table suddenly vibrated violently.

Upon checking the caller, a smile spread across Jeong Hyeok’s lips. Amidst the tedious and draining routine, the woman’s call was a welcome surprise.

Jeong Hyeok lifted the phone to his ear.

“Yoo Da Jung?”

『Dad?』

At the bright, cheerful voice, his smile grew warmer. Since it wasn’t her own phone but Yoo Da Jung’s, it seemed she must have gotten her mother’s permission to call.

“Yoo Si Woo, have you eaten?”

『Huh? Yes! I had shrimp fried rice!』

“Fried rice?”

Jeong Hyeok’s eyes twitched slightly. Then, skeptical, he asked,

“Was it good?”

『Yes!』

“You’re lying.”
