Da Jung turned around without a word and headed to the kitchen.

She poured a glass of water, returned to the living room, and held out the tray. Sung Ja, who had been sprawled out like she owned the place, took the glass and gulped down the water.

“Excuse me.”

When Da Jung called out, Sung Ja glared fiercely and slammed the water glass down with a thud.

“Hey! What kind of way is that to address me? Can’t you do something about that ‘excuse me’ of yours?”

“We’ll talk about the honorifics later. For now, I’d really appreciate it if you could leave.”

At Da Jung’s firm tone, Sung Ja’s eyes widened in shock.

“Oh my, listen to this girl talk. Are you really trying to kick out your poor mother-in-law with nowhere to go in the middle of the night?”

Da Jung was at a loss for words, unsure what to say. In the meantime, Sung Ja flopped down onto the sofa.

“Ah, whatever! I’m exhausted, so I need to lie down for a bit.”

“Lie down where? Get out right now.”

Startled, Da Jung quickly grabbed her arm to pull her up, but it was no use. On top of that, the words Sung Ja threw out like a favor were outrageous.

“I don’t need the master bedroom, so just give me a pillow and a blanket. I’m used to the floor anyway, so this spot is perfect for me.”

Sung Ja said while patting the wide space with her hand. Da Jung touched her forehead, which was gradually heating up.

“If you keep acting like this, it’ll be a problem. If you don’t leave, I’ll call the police.”
