Climbing up the narrow, bumpy slope and glancing back at the path they’d taken, they saw matchbox-like houses densely packed together.

Staring at the sight with a horrified expression, Hyun Ah grumbled.

“What is this place? Does Seoul really have somewhere like this?”

Seon Young, likewise struggling uphill in high heels, lacked even the energy to complain.

“Secretary Pyo. Is it still far?”

Panting as she asked, Secretary Pyo—who had been walking ahead to guide them—stopped and pointed toward the end of the slope.

“We’re almost there, Director. Just climb up to that point, turn the corner, and it’ll be right in front of you.”

After coaxing and cajoling the whining Hyun Ah, they barely managed to reach the slope’s summit and step onto flat ground, where a fork in the road appeared.

“Secretary Pyo. Is this the right place?”

Seon Young, warily scanning the unfamiliar surroundings, asked skeptically. In response, her secretary once again pointed toward one direction of the fork.

“Can you see it over there?”

The tip of Secretary Pyo’s finger indicated a crookedly hung sign reading “Original-Style Pajeon.”

Noticing the utility pole right where she’d stopped, Hyun Ah grimaced and pinched her nose shut.

A stench reminiscent of a public restroom wafted in from somewhere, while food waste—ripped open by stray cats—lay scattered all around, swarming with flies.

“Ugh, the smell! Mom! Do we really have to go this far? Are you seriously planning to join hands with that weird woman?”
