Seon Young, leaning against the sofa, fidgeted restlessly with her phone.

Hyun Ah had gone to Chairman Park’s dinner invitation, and Seon Young was anxiously fretting over whether her daughter might slip up somehow. Ignorant of the ways of the world and overly naive, Hyun Ah always left her feeling uneasy, as if the girl were a child left unattended beside a riverbank—utterly helpless.

At any rate, it was fortunate that the old lady’s anger hadn’t lasted long. Though she couldn’t say for sure, that precious wild ginseng must have proven its worth handsomely. “Chairwoman, regarding Jeong Hyeok—it really seems excessive. Shouldn’t he have at least paid us a courtesy visit by now?”

No matter how precious Chairman Park considered her grandson, once formally tied to the family, he’d carry the nominal titles of son-in-law, father-in-law, and mother-in-law.

It had been ages since the marriage talks were settled, yet he hadn’t even offered a single greeting or inquired after their well-being—she couldn’t think of anything more indifferent.

Even this recent incident illustrated that perfectly. While the video caused his own grandmother to threaten outright cancellation of the engagement, he stood idly by as if it had nothing to do with him—deeply infuriating, in her view.

Setting aside his naturally cold and reserved personality, such utter indifference made her worry whether he’d ever treat his future mother-in-law with proper respect.

“That’s exactly it! Just how much does he look down on us? Once you formally accept him as your son-in-law, Chairwoman, you really must teach him a firm lesson or two.”

Despite her persistent nagging, not a single reply came, prompting Seon Young’s gaze to shift toward the head of the sofa.

Her husband, Chairman Oh Cheol Joong, was slumped on the sofa, dozing off—though it had only been a short while since dinner.

Seon Young clicked her tongue in disapproval. Approaching seventy, his receding hairline and protruding belly were impossible to ignore.
