When she woke up, the spacious bedroom was completely empty.

For a brief moment, Da Jung was bewildered by the unfamiliar surroundings, but then she remembered this was Jeong Hyeok’s residence and slapped her forehead.

Seo Nam Sik had broken into her home. The police had come over because of that incident, and she and Si Woo had ended up taking what was essentially a forced refuge here.

All of it had happened just yesterday, yet everything felt hazy—as if a violent storm had swept through and left her disoriented.

Wait—what time was it now?

Da Jung turned her eyes toward the digital clock on the bedside table, only to freeze in stunned disbelief.

3 p.m.?

Goodness! She couldn’t believe she’d slept until this hour in someone else’s house.

Come to think of it, she could understand Jeong Hyeok stepping out of the bedroom last night—but why wasn’t Si Woo, whom she’d put to sleep in the same bed, anywhere in sight?

Da Jung finally grew worried about her son and hurriedly lowered her feet to the floor. Slipping on her slippers and pushing herself up, she let out an involuntary groan.

Moaning softly, she crossed the unnecessarily large room and barely managed to grasp and turn the doorknob. The moment she opened the door, an icy chill rushed in—as if she’d stepped onto the Siberian tundra.

Before her lay the barren living room. And—

Da Jung rubbed her eyes, doubting what she was seeing, then looked again.

“Roar! Roar!”

A baby tiger was romping freely across the vast living room, thoroughly thrilled—its rear end bouncing and letting out delighted squeals.
