Da Jung held her breath and blinked her widened eyes repeatedly.
Everything happened too quickly. There was no time to defend. By the time she regained her senses, she was already curled up on Cha Jung Hyuk’s chest.
Thump, thump. She could feel the strong heartbeat from his chest that her cheek was against.
“Yoo Da Jung….”
His whispering voice was hoarse and heavily cracked.
“Yoo Da Jung….”
His arms, murmuring like in his sleep, tightened their grip around Da Jung. With her gaze held captive, Da Jung quietly tried to speak.
“Cha Jung Hyuk, are you okay?”
“…No. It hurts.”
His chest rose and fell like a boat bobbing on the water.
“Does it hurt a lot? Where and how does it hurt?”
“I don’t know… It just hurts.”
His voice, his breathing, everything else felt heavy and sluggish. As if he was awoken from a deep sleep.
Although their close contact was embarrassing, Da Jung remained quietly nestled against him. It felt like the right thing to do.
As time passed, the strength gradually left his arms that were holding her tightly. Only then, Da Jung slowly raised her body and examined his complexion.
His face had lost half of its usual color while she wasn’t looking. His usually smooth skin was rough, and his deepset eyes were dried out and arid.

Closing his eyes and taking a moment to breathe, he struggled to sit up. Da Jung quickly pushed a cushion behind his back.
Her eyes followed the worryingly gaunt face of the man who was unrecognizable. He was not only gaunt but also disheveled in an unusual way which felt strange.
His disheveled hair falling over his forehead made him look surprisingly youthful.
An awkward silence hung in the space where they faced each other. Feeling embarrassed, Da Jung quickly licked her lips.
“I heard you almost had a major issue because of peanuts.”
This was a story she heard from Manager Min on the way here. When she heard this, she vaguely remembered him talking about his peanut allergy five years ago.
“You could have died. Why were you so foolish?”
Although she was worried and sorry, her words didn’t come out kindly. She seemed to be a little angry about the fact that he nearly made her son a murderer.
“I did it because I liked it.”
Contrary to his dry voice, a faint smile hung around his lips. His eyes, which were empty and dried out, were gradually showing a faint sign of life.
“But, really, where and how does it hurt?”
Asking again, Da Jung inadvertently touched his forehead. It didn’t feel hot.
Upon her touch, Jung Hyuk’s eyelids slowly closed and opened again. He enjoyed the soft and careful touch on his forehead.
His dry lips moved without emotion.

“Why are you so kind to me? When I’m always bad to you.”
Da Jung bit her lip lightly in response to the heavy question, then let go.
“Mr. Cha Jung Hyuk… He did this for me when I was sick.”
Feeling embarrassed once again under his unwavering gaze, Da Jung withdrew her hand and stood up.
“I’ve seen that Mr. Cha Jung Hyuk is okay, so I’ll be going now.”
“I’m not okay.”
Jung Hyuk quickly grabbed her retreating hand and pressed it back to his forehead.
“Look, I’m still in pain. Very pitiful. So keep touching me.”
“No, I can’t.”
She tried to pull away, but it wasn’t easy.
“Why?”
“Because I have to send Shi Woo to school and go to work…”
“Just stay until I fall asleep. Would you ignore me like this even if Yoo Shi Woo was in pain? So merciless?”
Da Jung let out a sigh with a resigned look on her face. Apart from the nonsense he was spouting about being deathly ill, he seemed perfectly fine.
Knowing full well that he was exaggerating his condition, Da Jung helplessly sat back down next to his bed.
“Then, Mr. Cha Jung Hyuk, I’ll stay until you fall asleep because you’re in pain… ”
Boom! Bang!
Suddenly, a dreamy explosion sounded from far away. When she looked out the window, brilliant fireworks were coloring the dark night sky.
“That’s right. The Han River Summer Fireworks Festival is around this time… Shi Woo would have liked it.”
When she saw something good and beautiful, she invariably thought of her son first.

Suddenly, a firm arm wrapped around Da Jung’s waist, which was slightly smiling as she watched the colorful scene.
Caught by surprise, Da Jung found herself being pulled into the middle of the bed.
Suddenly, a large window opened in front of her. His wide arms were wrapped around her back.
“The view is good here. Yoo Da Jung, watch and tell Yoo Shi Woo.”
Whispered words reached her ears from the lips near her. Da Jung bit her lip in embarrassment. He really didn’t look sick at all.
Regardless, the view of the fireworks from the expensive, luxurious residence with a beautiful view was spectacular.
“Hold on a moment. Do we have to watch in this position?”
It was nice that he had moved her to a position with a better view, but there was no need for him to cling to her back and hold her like a baby.
As Da Jung began to protest, his lips approached her ear.
“I’m worried Yoo Da Jung might get cold.”
At the ticklish breath, Da Jung quickly covered her ear.
“Mr. Cha Jung Hyuk. It’s summer now.”
Male lead Asks for a Divorce Every Day
It’s not often you come across a plot like this in the female-dominant genre — make sure to check it out!
This is a novel I’m planning to reread as well.
The male lead is strong, skilled in martial arts, and not the usual fragile type you often see in matriarchal novels.
Meanwhile, the female lead is a scientist—rational and logical. Even when she falls for the male lead, she doesn’t let her emotions cloud her decisions.
If you push through the first few chapters, you’ll gradually find the story really intriguing.
It has a mix of mystery, detective elements, and romance.
The author’s writing style is like crafting a puzzle—except they deliberately leave out a few pieces, making it hard to predict what happens next, yet keeping you hooked.
In the end, everything will come together and be explained.
One-sentence summary: Wife, stop playing with beakers and look at me!
In a laboratory accident, research scientist Zhu Wansheng accidentally travels to a matriarchal world. The original owner of the body is an eighteen-year-old only daughter of a wealthy rouge merchant, already married with a handsome young man.
Zhu Wansheng grins: Nice! She always said she was heaven’s favorite granddaughter. After a life of toil in her previous life, she can enjoy blessings in this one.
However, her joy lasts no more than three seconds as bad news arrives: the original owner’s family is about to go bankrupt, and her husband wants a divorce.
Even worse, she’s stuck with a research system full of restrictions.
Zhu Wansheng: ? Is this the destiny of a research dog?
——
Faced with this mess, Zhu Wansheng pours herself a bowl of wine to drown her sorrows. In her drunken haze, her husband arrives.
His figure is imposing, holding a long sword, with a dignified air that captivates Zhu Wansheng.
Gu Yingqing, however, looks at the alcohol-reeking Zhu Wansheng with undisguised disgust and coldly asks, “Divorce or not?” The intoxicated Zhu Wansheng mumbles vaguely, “I think… it’s not… it’s not… impossible!”
——
The next day, after sobering up, Zhu Wansheng is full of energy, rolling up her sleeves ready to make a big move. As for yesterday? She has no memory of it.
Zhu Wansheng is ambitious; a research dog fears nothing!
Upgrading rouge, extracting fragrances, producing perfumes, researching lipsticks… all shall bow to the power of modern technology!
The original owner’s dying rouge shop is revitalized. Her mother is pleased and with a wave of her hand, passes on the family business to her. As she takes control and her experimental results gain popularity, it’s the pinnacle of her life…
——
But there are always those who can’t stand to see her doing well. Jealousy, scheming, assassination attempts – they want nothing less than her life.
The person who has always kept his distance from her suddenly holds her tightly in his arms, eyes full of concern.
She is unharmed, but he falls into a pool of blood…
Zhu Wansheng feels guilty, “I can grant you one wish.”
Gu Yingqing tentatively circles his arms around her, carefully resting his head in the crook of her neck, pleading softly, “I regret it. Can we not divorce?”
Zhu Wansheng: ? When did I agree to a divorce?
[Small Theater]
The newly developed rouge is beautifully packaged, and Zhu Wansheng is eager to try it.
Gu Yingqing suddenly appears: “My lady, may I apply it for you?”
Cool fingertips lightly brush her lips. His Adam’s apple bobs as he leans in for a light bite.
Zhu Wansheng: ?
Gu Yingqing: It smells so good, I wanted to taste it…
On a warm spring day, Zhu Wansheng tries a new perfume: “Spring Night.” Gu Yingqing corners her against a wall.
Warm breath lingers on her neck.
“My lady, from now on, may I test the fragrances for you?”
