Whirring. The coffee machine made a noisy sound.
Da Jung, who had been blankly watching the black liquid being extracted, suddenly turned her gaze to the living room.
Sitting on the living room floor, Jung Hyuk was in the middle of mopping. The scene was a far cry from his earlier audacity.
He was somewhat diligent, moving slowly, but his mopping was incredibly awkward, like someone who had never mopped before. Despite this, Da Jung found the scene memorable, and her face soured with disgust.
“How can someone be so ignorant of etiquette? Wipe it clean!”
Her unnecessary scolding made the man’s strained shoulders flinch noticeably.
“I am doing it. But don’t keep telling me to do it. It’s annoying.”
He was unexpectedly stubborn. He did what needed to be done, even if he grumbled about it. His stern face didn’t hide his dissatisfaction.
Clatter. It was when she was filling a clear glass with ice. Suddenly, a heavy weight approached from behind and pressed on Da Jung’s shoulders.
Startled, something reached out and covered her vision. It was a large hand, big enough to cover Da Jung’s face.
The cold palm of his hand, moist from just washing, gently touched Da Jung’s forehead. The fluttering of her eyelashes against his palm was clear.
Trapping Da Jung between the sink and his body, Jung Hyuk stood still for a moment. Then, a familiar breath reached Da Jung’s ears.

“Yoo Da Jung. Are you sick?”
His raspy voice was ticklish. Da Jung quickly grabbed the hand on her forehead and pushed it down.
“I feel a little unwell, but it’s fine.”
The hand she pushed away didn’t withdraw but moved to her neck instead. His cold palm covered her neck broadly, as if cooling down the heat.
“You have a fever.”
“It’s a little. I’m really okay.”
He moved his body even closer. The weight on her shoulder was very apparent. That weight made her feel his heartbeat against her chest.
His languid gaze intensely watched the side of Da Jung’s face. She was so close that their noses could touch, Da Jung couldn’t turn her head and held her breath.
Her cheeks became feverishly hot. It wasn’t just because she had a slight fever. Once again, Da Jung felt embarrassed and twisted her shoulder.
“It’s hot, so don’t stick to me and move over there!”
At her sharp words, Jung Hyuk obediently took a step back. The heat made her wave her hand fan, as she spoke as if she were reprimanding him.
“Don’t be a nuisance and go wait in the living room.”
Once again, he turned around without a word. Watching his retreating back, Da Jung tried to steady her rapid breathing.
He really was a man who never let her guard down.
She filled the glass with the remaining ice and poured the completed coffee into it, carrying the tray into the living room. As instructed, Cha Jung Hyuk was quietly waiting, sunk into the middle of the sofa.
“Drink this and leave quickly.”
She put down the glass with a thud, speaking in a somewhat dissatisfied tone. As she turned to leave, her wrist was suddenly grabbed.

Da Jung slumped next to him, clutching the tray. Their bodies touched again. She didn’t even glance at the coffee he had offered, his face was coming closer.
Jung Hyuk closely examined Da Jung’s face, now within a breath’s distance. Although his gaze didn’t carry any particular emotion, she felt her cheeks heat up and her breath hitch for some reason.
“Wha, what now?”
As she leaned back defensively, his long fingers reached out, gently tracing the corner of her eyes.
“Did you cry?”
“No, I didn’t cry.”
Da Jung quickly raised her hand to hide her eyes.
She had cried a lot and hadn’t slept well. Even though she was not aware of it, her condition must have been terrible.
She didn’t want to show this man her unsightly or unattractive side.
Of course, she was not dreaming of a rosy future with him. She simply had a vague desire to look pretty, just like she had five years ago.
Although she was avoiding his gaze, Jung Hyuk’s eyes lingered on her face, observing her.
Yoo Da Jung was not a good liar, yet she lied as if it were her daily bread. She had certainly been crying her heart out. It was evident just by looking at her swollen eyes.
She was a woman who would burst into tears at the slightest mention of Yoo Shi Woo. Hearing about him made even my heart sink, let alone hers who had just lost him.

Let alone how much Yoo Da Jung must have suffered when the child she had given birth to, breastfed, and raised as if he was a part of her, disappeared during the time he was not around.
Now that I’ve become a father, I can somewhat understand how terrified and sad she must have been.
I didn’t want to pretend to understand. There was no need to relive those emotions.
“Go, go away. I told you not to stick to me because it’s hot.”
Thinking she might suffocate and die, Da Jung pushed his chest. Then he spoke out of the blue.
“Do you want to date?”
“……!”
Da Jung quickly lifted the tray to hide her lips. Her surprised bunnylike eyes were the only things sticking out above it as she shook her head.
“No, no! I don’t want to.”
“That’s a shame.”
An Indifferent Woman is the One Men Desire the Most
One-line summary: The female lead is actually cold-hearted and extremely rational. She has stage-by-stage relationships and won’t two-time, but there will always be someone who secretly likes her.
This novel has the following triggers, so if you’re sensitive to these, please don’t read:
1. The female lead has had many relationships, but she treated each one seriously and broke up properly.
It’s just that the men unilaterally pestered her incessantly. For the female lead, when she doesn’t like someone anymore, she simply doesn’t like them.
(This applies to her relationships with Male Lead 1, 2, 3, and 4 as well, but she’s loyal in each 1-on-1 relationship!)
2. In this novel, Male Lead 2 and the female lead kiss in a car, and Male Lead 1 sees it and beats up Male Lead 2.
The female lead calls the police and sends both Male Lead 1 and 2 to the police station! Male Lead 1 begs the female lead not to break up with him.
3. Male Lead 1 has a gentle appearance but an obsessive personality.
Male Lead 2 has a delicate and soft appearance, slightly green tea-like (two-faced).
Male Lead 3 is a youthful college student and a smart person who has secretly liked the female lead for a long time.
Male Lead 4 is the female lead’s father’s special assistant, a business elite with deep, hidden thoughts.
4. At the beginning of this novel, the female lead has already broken up with Male Lead 1 (Chapter 4) and gotten back together with Male Lead 2 (ex-boyfriend).
5. Enter with caution if you have triggers!!!
