“You’re not the representative of Hanbit, I believe.”
Despite the somewhat disgruntled first words, the unwelcomed visitor politely bowed his head.
“I’m Kwon Do Jun, the representative of Hanbit Architecture Office. We’ve met before so I’ll skip the formalities.”
Jung Hyuk got up from his desk. Although he didn’t feel like it, he decided to maintain the courtesy due to a guest. He was secretly curious about the purpose of his visit.
As he gestured to a spot on the guest sofa, Do Jun took a seat at an appropriate distance.
“What brings you here?”
Jung Hyuk gave him a sidelong glance. Facing him with a calm demeanor, Do Jun opened his mouth resolutely.
“Stop hanging around Da Jung.”
He was exceedingly straightforward, despite skipping the formalities. Jung Hyuk took a deep breath and asked in a cavalier manner.
“Why should I?”

“I don’t want to see Da Jung suffering because of you anymore.”
Jung Hyuk glared at a man who was looking somewhat formidable, then he scoffed.
“Do you like the mother of my child, Representative Kwon Do Jun?”
Suddenly, the edges of Do Jun’s eyes, which had been calm, hardened uncomfortably.
“Executive Director Cha Jung Hyuk! Please do not refer to Da Jung in such a manner.”
“Then what should I say? She’s the mother of my child, right?”
“You do not have the right to call Da Jung and Shi Woo like that.”
Jung Hyuk exhaled a sigh. It wasn’t like the two of them were in cahoots, yet his talks of rights were always scratching at his heart.
He knew that the rights they were talking about had ethical implications, but that was none of his business. After all, it was clear that half of the legal rights over Yoo Shi Woo belonged to Cha Jung Hyuk.
He had carelessly given up his responsibilities. Upon realizing, it seemed like all that was left were the rights, but giving those up too would make him a total loser.
He would keep his promise to Da Jung, though. There was no need to childishly cross his little fingers. He didn’t intend to do that in the first place.
Yoo Shi Woo. There would never be a situation where he let his son grow up without a mother.
Suppressing his discomfort, Jung Hyuk calmed his voice.
“Look here. It’s a fact that the kid is biologically my son. If I, as the father, don’t have any rights, then who does? You, who’s a nobody?”
“Do you think it answers if you suddenly show up one day claiming to be the father? Do you know how much Da Jung suffered because of what you did 5 years ago? You don’t know anything.”
A complex mix of emotions surfaced at Do Jun’s stern gaze towards Jung Hyuk.
This man knows nothing.

How much pain Da Jung and her mother had gone through because of that incident. And how he, who could only watch from afar, felt.
It was all because of the man in front of him. He couldn’t stand this man, who reappeared and made Da Jung relive those painful times.
“What do you not know? Think about it. Did the kid appear out of nowhere?”
“What are you talking about?”
“No. It just feels a bit off, being treated like a criminal.”
Rubbing his ears, Jung Hyuk mumbled nervously. His careless attitude put a strain on Do Jun’s voice.
“Executive Director Cha Jung Hyuk. I am speaking seriously.”
“Me? I don’t think so.”
Jung Hyuk’s gaze sharply rose.
“I was with that woman, Yoo Da Jung, because we liked each other. I don’t care what you, Kwon Do Jun, think. But whatever happens, Yoo Shi Woo is mine. If Yoo Shi Woo is mine, then Yoo Da Jung is mine too.”
“Executive Director Cha Jung Hyuk! Please make up some reasonable excuses!”
The warning flowed out quite monotonously.
“Kwon Do Jun. Don’t cross the line. You are nothing to my child and my child’s mother.”
“I didn’t come here to listen to such nonsense. I won’t waste time. Do not interfere in Da Jung’s life anymore. She is about to get married.”
“……”
Jung Hyuk’s mouth tightly closed at the forceful last words.
Looking at Jung Hyuk, visibly hardened, Do Jun felt more at ease as if he had struck a satisfying blow, and then he rose to his feet.
“My business ends here. I have been intrusive today. Goodbye.”
After bowing his head in respect, Do Jun turned around and left. Jung Hyuk’s eyes coldly stiffened, looking at the place where Do Jun’s figure had disappeared.

A complete double defeat.
Smooth fingers uncomfortably brushed his furrowed brows.
He hadn’t interfered in that woman’s life. Yoo Da Jung, she was the one who had interfered in his life.
Screech! The car came to a halt with a harsh sound.
Da Jung, looking pale, almost threw herself out of the car. There were more people than usual around the kindergarten.
She hastily surveyed the surroundings. Through the bustling crowd, she saw Sol, huddled in a corner of the flower bed.
Her fingertips trembled as she approached the flower bed. Seeing Sol sobbing miserably, her throat tightened.
“Sol… Wwhat happened?”
She tried to keep calm, but her voice trembled. Seeing Da Jung, Sol burst into tears.
“Sob! Da Jung! What should we do about Si Woo? I’ve looked everywhere, he’s gone!”
“……”
A cold breath escaped from Da Jung’s lips.
She heard Sol’s sobbing, but her vision had blanked out, capturing nothing.

She had received a frantic call from Sol just as she had arrived at the construction site. Si Woo had disappeared.
“Sob! What should we do about Si Woo!”
As Da Jung stood frozen, Sol’s cries became louder. Da Jung, whose legs had given way, fell to the ground right there.
“Oh… What should we do? Our Si Woo… Where could he be…”
Blurry figures began to solidify in her dazed vision. Police officers who had received the report were busily looking around, sending out wireless transmissions.
Da Jung, who had hastily rushed out, grabbed the sleeve of the nearest police officer.
“Find my child, Si Woo, please!”
Upon her desperate plea, the police officer’s eyes widened.
“Are you the guardian of the missing child?”
“Yes! I’m, I’m Si Woo’s mom! Please find my Si Woo, okay?”
“Calm down, ma’am. We are currently searching the area and collecting CCTV footage, so we should find him soon.”
The kindergarten was in chaos over the missing child. It was a highly promoted educational institution representing the area, so the police station was also on high alert.
Do Jun, who had heard the news late, rushed over, gasping for breath.
“Da Jung! What happened?”
Although he asked, Da Jung was sitting lifelessly in the flower bed, lost in her thoughts.
Her anxious eyes flitted aimlessly in midair.
Kidnapping? Considering the kindergarten catered to affluent families, it was possible someone had kidnapped the child for ransom.

Suddenly, she remembered a movie she had seen sometime ago. It was a film about a child abduction case, based on a true story.
The ending of that movie….
The moment she recalled the ending of the movie, Yoo Da Jung bit her lip. It hadn’t been a pleasant ending. The mere thought of that scene was so terrifying that she couldn’t even breathe.
She could’ve been in that situation, yet she was powerless, standing by and doing nothing, she could only cry helplessly.
Then, something flashed across her mind. Hastily, she grabbed her phone and began searching through her call list.
Her jittery, teary eyes stared at the saved name.
「Strange Man」
She wanted to ask for his help. She felt that if she told him about the situation, he would find Si Woo by any means necessary and return him to her.
Her trembling finger hovered over the call button. Biting her lip in hesitation, Yoo Da Jung couldn’t bring herself to press the call button and finally broke down sobbing.
She had promised to raise him well. She had made such a promise, yet she couldn’t bring herself to tell him that she had lost Si Woo so tragically.

Male lead fell into her trap — and shattered when she walked away
This is also on my reread list!
This one is a slow burn, but when it burns, it burns hard.
Definitely worth a read, y’all!
The story follows a thousand-year-old seductive spirit who, on a bet, sets out to charm the male lead—a once-promising but unfortunate cultivator.
But just when she succeeds in making him fall for her, she heartlessly leaves, driving him to madness.
Determined to find her at all costs, he captures her, keeping her by his side no matter what, even if she hates him.
I love this kind of trope—I enjoy watching the male lead suffer in agony.
The ending drags a bit with unnecessary filler, but that’s fine.
As long as I enjoy the beginning, I’m good.
