It was the first time DoJun expressed such sincere emotions about a woman. The revelation was not without its share of surprises.
“Senior has changed a lot. It looks good on you. But can the company afford you being absent so often? Hee-Ju was worried.”
“So, about that, DaJeong. I think you should take care of the company a bit.”
In response to unexpected news, DaJeong was dumbfounded.
“What are you talking about, Senior?”
“If I go this time, I don’t plan on coming back for a while.”
A smile spread across DoJun’s lips as he spoke. It looked very exciting.
“To the U.S… You mean you’ll live there?”
“If Su-Kyung wants it, I might. But nothing is decided right away. I just want to do that for now.”
DaJeong was speechless for a moment. His choice seemed too reckless and irresponsible.

“Senior, this isn’t adolescence, what are you doing?”
“Wandering? No, a rebellion? Well, I don’t really know.”
Even to me, it seemed amusing as DoJun chuckled softly. In that moment, the only one taking it seriously was DaJeong.
“But, Senior… even so, the company…”
“If you reject, the company will.”
DoJun swallowed the rest of his words, pushing up his horn-rimmed glasses. DaJeong’s subsequent voice sounded uneasy.
“…close its doors?”
“If there’s no one to take charge until I come back, then maybe we’ll have to do that.”
“But…”
The company disappearing? What about Hanbit Architecture? It was the result of dreams and efforts that DoJun and she had built from scratch. Was Hanbit Architecture closing its doors?
No, perhaps it would be fortunate. To DaJeong, Hanbit was a dream and the future. However, to DoJun, it was slightly different. To him, Hanbit was both a dream and the future, and soon, it was DaJeong.

If Hanbit became less important to DoJun, it would be very fortunate. Yet, DaJeong couldn’t understand why she felt so disappointed.
In the end, DaJeong accepted DoJun’s proposal. However, it was based on the condition that he would return. She couldn’t just stand by and watch the dreams she had built crumble.
Upon hearing the news, JaeHyuk jumped up. Although DaJeong, who had recently given birth, opposed it, DaJeong’s determination remained unshaken.
She even tried to protest by refusing meals, staging demonstrations, acting like a rebellious teenager, but nothing worked.
Because the defeat of the person you love more was already determined.
When DaJeong finished a client meeting and visited the site, it was empty. She had overlooked that the arrival time coincided with lunchtime.
A few workers were taking turns guarding the site, but she needed to discuss the specific progress situation with the site manager.
Helplessly waiting for the site manager, DaJeong examined the blueprints in the car. She hastily filled her stomach with a sandwich for a late lunch.
While doing so, she suddenly remembered something, and DaJeong shifted her gaze from the blueprint.
When did she hear that voice? Is she still alive?

After contemplating for a moment while looking at the time, she finally picked up her phone.
With a towel covering her wet hair, DoJun left the shower booth. The phone on the table vigorously shook as he checked the caller ID.
Picking up the phone and confirming the caller, a faint smile appeared on DoJun’s lips.
He was in a space that wasn’t a corridor, kitchen, or bedroom, taking only a few steps from the shower booth straight to the bed.
Living in a camper was like that. Only a few steps from the shower booth to the bed. That was all, but except for what was rarely missing, almost everything was provided.
Lying on the bed, fiddling with the phone, SuKyung, who had just come out of the shower, immediately nestled her nose against his neck. A fresh scent of soap emanated from him, just after he showered.
DoJun lay on the bed, connecting the incoming video call. The first voice that came through was almost a scream.
“Senior! You really have no intention of ending your wandering, do you?”
DoJun just laughed. Seeing DaJeong after a long time was delightful. The last time he saw her was seven months ago. He left for the United States, leaving the company to her.
“Where are you now?”
“Um… We’re going to sleep under the stars in Louisville tonight.”

By “we,” he meant himself and SuKyung. DaJeong ignored the man who needlessly became more romantic and tilted her head.
“Louisville? Where is that?”
“In Kentucky.”
“Kentucky? Wasn’t it Texas last time?”
“It was last time. We arrived here two days ago.”
“Going here and there, like migrating birds. Senior, you’re so lucky. Having a free spirit. When are you coming back? I’m going crazy having to go to work every Monday. My eyes are all swollen from our Honeybee stepping on them all day. Look at this.”
DaJeong pressed her face to the camera and pulled down the corners of her eyes.
“Then just close the company.”
DoJun just smiled leisurely. Hearing him say “Senior,” DaJeong, excited, started to jump around.
“Where is the irresponsibility in that statement? Me, going to work after leaving babies like they’re a herd? I have no concerns?! Egomaniac! Whether it’s Texas or Kentucky, I hope you turn into fried chicken there!”

“Unni, it’s been a while.”
Suddenly appearing on the screen, SuKyung waved brightly, smiling. She timely joined to rescue DoJun from DaJeong’s curse, hoping he turns into fried chicken.
As expected, DaJeong, pretending not to know, kindly smiled at SuKyung, as if to say, ‘When did you change so much?’
“Oh my, SuKyung, it’s been so long. You’ve become even prettier.”
“Unni, you’re the one. Who would believe you have two kids?”
DaJeong’s suspicious gaze intensified.
“I know you’re putting the airplane on DoJun to avoid work.”
Seemingly stabbed by the truth, SuKyung, with a embarrassed face, changed the topic out of context.
“By the way! I’m taking a plane next week. I’m slowly settling my life here.”
“You’re coming all the way to Korea?”

Unexpected news made DaJeong blink her large eyes like a calf.
“I stopped by Canada for some work, and then I’ll go straight to Korea with Chris.”
As SuKyung spoke, she met eyes with DoJun, who supported her pillow. Chris was DoJun’s English name.
For a moment, there was the sound of Chris laughing playfully, saying, ‘Ashley, don’t mess around.’
Even with just eye contact, smiles simultaneously appeared on both of their faces.
“Sorry, Chris was joking.”
DaJeong chuckled soullessly. She was getting tired of the whispers of a woman in love.
“It’ll be fine. Both of you come quickly. I miss you.”
“Don’t worry. We’ll attend the Honeybee’s celebration no matter what happens.”
“Just as well. I’m really looking forward to the gifts from both of you.”

When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
Here’s the story synopsis:
