Although the sound was somewhat short, Dajeong immediately realized who Siwoo was imitating. Siwoo was now saying the same words his dad had said to his mom.
So, he can’t even drink cold water in front of the kid.
Without time to blush, the moms made a fuss. Suwon’s mom laughed aloud.
“Look at them playing. They say today is prettier than yesterday. Isn’t it too cute?”
“Seriously. Who did Siwoo learn to be so sweet from?”
Jealousy mingled with Kyung-jun’s mom’s voice. Then Yerim’s mom shot a meaningful glance.
“Who else could he resemble? Either mom or dad.”
Amidst the pouring laughter, Dajeong felt like her face was about to peel off from the heat.
The kids are like sponges, they say. I don’t know when they heard their dad’s words and started imitating them without a single mistake.
“But Siwoo’s mom, how long are you going to live like this with Siwoo’s dad?”
The nosy Yerim’s mom asked.

Dajeong just awkwardly smiled. She had nothing particular to say.
She knows too. That their relationship doesn’t appear normal to an outsider.
Suddenly, Dajeong let out a long sigh.
It had been about two weeks since the argument at the hotel. And from the man who walked out like that, there had been no contact at all.
Dajeong didn’t reach out either because there was no contact from him. She can’t claim to fully understand his feelings, but she wasn’t completely ignorant either.
However, pretending to listen to his unilateral demands went against her pride or stubbornness.
While returning home from the kids’ cafe, Dajeong’s face became troubled.
It was because of a phone call that came during the drive.
“I’m really upset, I might die! Huhuhuhu!”
Sol’s wailing voice flowed sadly through the car speaker.

Dajeong turned her gaze to the rearview mirror after swallowing a sigh. Siwoo, who had been happily swinging his legs while tied to the car seat just a moment ago, now had a worried crease on his forehead.
“Sol, calm down and tell me slowly.”
As Dajeong tried to console her, Sol repaid her with a loud wail.
“I don’t knooow! I don’t want tooo! I don’t waaant!”
“Uh? Mom… Auntie is, uh…”
At Sol’s unusual crying, Siwoo couldn’t hide his worry and his eyes blinked.
Seriously, it’s embarrassing for Siwoo to hear this.
I considered whether I should hang up, but Dajeong agreed to reduce the speaker volume slightly.
“Hey, I’ll arrive soon, so let’s end it here and calm down.”
Dajeong parked the car and went into the cafe with Siwoo. Because the cafe had been closed for a long time due to recent wedding preparations, the cafe felt chilly without people’s body heat.

Dajeong discovered the troubled face of Sol, who was hopping around, and let out a heavy sigh.
She, who had been searching for something, brought the electric heater from the corner and quickly placed it next to Sol.
When she connected the heater to the outlet, the space, which had sunk into an ash-gray color, quickly warmed up.
Seated across from Sol, who was sniffling, Dajeong hugged Siwoo and sat him on her lap.
“The wedding is the day after tomorrow. If you catch a cold, what will happen? Why are you crying here like this? If you’re going to cry like this, it’s better to go home. Your face is turning pale.”
“If you go home, wouldn’t your heart feel at ease? Even mom isn’t on my side. She says something whenever she sees me, always taking Junho’s side! Ugh, I don’t know! I won’t get married!”
“…….”
Dajeong had nothing to say and just let out a long sigh.
It seems like there’s another argument about wedding preparations, and the thought of being alone is causing distress. Flower-seed, too, mostly leans towards Junho’s negative side, so Dajeong can empathize enough with how she might be feeling.
Without saying a word, Dajeong went to the kitchen and came back with two warm drinks. One was handed to Siwoo, and the other to Sol.
“Stop crying and drink this. You’ll collapse if you keep going like this.”

Sol sniffled at the sweet chocolate scent.
“This is… she knew I was on a diet and still made hot chocolate…”
Dajeong, who was blowing out a sigh of disbelief, glanced uncomfortably.
Although it’s embarrassing for her cheeks to look slim due to dieting before the wedding, she felt like giving Sol a piece of her mind for being annoying.
“You say you won’t get married? Why go through the trouble of dieting then?”
“No, it’s not that I absolutely won’t…”
“The one who was just determined to get through this crying fit, isn’t she a different kid?”
“She’s just sad about that. It’s just upsetting.”
Even with her mouth pouted, Sol didn’t say a word. She wasn’t willing to say whether she wanted to get married or absolutely wouldn’t, which was a relief.
Swallowing a sigh, Dajeong asked slowly.

“What’s going on? Why on earth are you like this?”
Listening to the story, Dajeong was chilled to the bone, and she couldn’t even laugh.
So, discussing honeymoon destinations like Hawaii or Maldives inadvertently exposed Junho’s past, and it seemed like a big enough problem to overturn the wedding.
“Do you not have a past? Your past is flashy too. It’s not trivial.”
“Is mine the same as Junho’s?”
“What’s different? Suddenly, why are you talking about selective gender equality?”
“Hey, this is sexism! Whose side are you on!”
Feeling hurt, Sol yelled back. Dajeong didn’t feel like saying anything more and closed her mouth. Then, looking left and right, Siwoo, who was glancing around, hopped over and nestled into Sol’s arms.
“Auntie Duk, nice. Good kids don’t cry. I love you.”
“Uwaaaaah! Siwoo, you!”

Rejected even by her friend, Sol embraced Siwoo tightly and burst into tears.
Tsk tsk, Dajeong clicked her tongue. Sol’s tantrums felt like mere luxury.
No matter how much her feelings were hurt, compared to the deep darkness burning inside her because there was no contact from Junhyuk for two weeks, Sol’s outbursts seemed petty.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
