“If you have money, anything goes, right? Anyway, it seems she lives without getting married because of her wealthy old man. I knew she was different. Although it seems like she has a child, her presence is not noticeable, but she never misses a scholarship. Ugh, ruthless X.”
Tang! As Jaehyun finished speaking, an on-the-rocks glass slammed roughly on the table.
All eyes silently turned to face Dojun as he stared intently at Jaehyun. His clenched fingers around the empty glass turned white.
“Hey, Kim Jaehyun. Did you see it?”
Dojun’s gaze seemed sharp, and Jaehyun forced a nervous laugh.
“What’s up with this guy? Hey. Why are you suddenly like this?”
“He’s asking if you saw Dajeong as a concubine.”
“This guy suddenly going overboard. Hey. Why is he like that? Is he enjoying himself, giving her a salary and playing around with her?”
Sipping the bitter soju, Dojun furrowed his brows. As he swiped his tongue across the broken membrane inside his mouth, a sharp pain spread.
“Hey, are you okay? Don’t you need to go to the hospital?”

Worriedly asking, Sungwoo closely examined Dojun’s scowling face. The glasses he usually wore were missing, and there was a long cut near his forehead.
“The hospital is where that guy needs to go.”
Dojun mumbled as he lightly touched the wounded area on his hand with his palm.
During the scuffle, it was a one-sided bout where Jaehyun did most of the hitting.
“Hey, Kim Jaehyun. Are you okay?”
Taking a sip of soju while sighing, Sungwoo tilted his head sympathetically. The glasses he always wore were missing, and there was a long cut near the forehead.
“Hey, why are you suddenly like this? Did you suddenly see something?”
“……”
In response to Sungwoo’s question, Dojun answered with silence. Sungwoo, who was not taking the silence lightly, cautiously opened his mouth.
“But, Dajeong isn’t really like that, right? It’s completely baseless rumors?”
“Yeah. It’s baseless rumors.”

“Oh, I knew it. Nasty guys. Male colleagues doing things as if they have the right to bother a female junior.”
Only then did a relaxed smile appear on Sungwoo’s face, as if he could finally feel relieved.
While sharing a couple of bottles of soju, Sungwoo’s phone rang. It was a call from the substitute driver.
They got into the same car and were dropped off in front of the officetel. Sungwoo rolled down the window from the passenger seat and leaned out.
“Hey! Do I really not need to go to the hospital?”
Dojun walked without saying a word, waving his hand backward. It was a signal to get lost.
In the elevator, Dojun absentmindedly glanced at his face in the wall mirror. Bruises were visible here and there, and there were marks spreading across his jaw and forehead.
The scratches on the broken glasses legs looked like they were painted with a pen, reddish and vibrant, and his lips were also completely cracked.
For some reason, looking at such a battered face made him laugh. Maybe it was the effect of alcohol, or perhaps he didn’t feel the pain. His vision was a bit blurry, not from alcohol, but probably because he didn’t have his glasses.
In the elevator, Dojun stared blankly at the indicator panel. Suddenly, the image of Dajeong he had seen at the Gangbyeon restaurant came to mind.

Did she really open her heart to Cha Junghyuk?
It seemed so. Not that it wasn’t, but looking at the two people from a distance, they looked just like a married couple with an adorable five-year-old son.
Dojun lightly tapped his swollen cheek.
That’s fine then. Since he wished for Dajeong’s happiness more than anyone, that’s fine.
Dojun, stepping out of the elevator, walked unsteadily towards his apartment. Stumbling, as he reached the door, he hesitated when he reached out his finger to the keypad.
Staring at the lit-up number pad with all his might, he suddenly couldn’t remember the passcode.
Dojun leaned against the door, holding back his laughter like he was half-asleep. Shaking, he continued to chuckle.
Ah, he needed to recall the door lock password, but for some reason, the face of that woman kept coming to mind.
How much time had passed? Tick-tock. The faint sound of footsteps echoing in the quiet corridor.
Dojun raised his blurry gaze. The woman standing in front of him had sturdy steps.

It made him laugh again. Perhaps his thoughts were too excessive that he even saw illusions. But, knowing that, Dojun still grabbed the wrist of the woman in the illusion.
He embraced the woman who, like a magnet, was drawn into his arms. He felt the familiar scent.
Male lead fell into her trap — and shattered when she walked away
This is also on my reread list!
This one is a slow burn, but when it burns, it burns hard.
Definitely worth a read, y’all!
The story follows a thousand-year-old seductive spirit who, on a bet, sets out to charm the male lead—a once-promising but unfortunate cultivator.
But just when she succeeds in making him fall for her, she heartlessly leaves, driving him to madness.
Determined to find her at all costs, he captures her, keeping her by his side no matter what, even if she hates him.
I love this kind of trope—I enjoy watching the male lead suffer in agony.
The ending drags a bit with unnecessary filler, but that’s fine.
As long as I enjoy the beginning, I’m good.
