A sigh burst from Shi Woo’s lips. How could he wait for a week? It seemed like he was burning with impatience.
Upon arriving home, Da Jung was enveloped in a strange sensation. It was impossible not to be surprised with the lights brightly turned on and even the sound of the TV audible.
“Shi Woo, it seems Grandma left the TV on.”
Shi Woo tilted his head.
“Huh? Grandma didn’t watch TV. She was snoring.”
“Really? That’s strange…”
As she walked past the hallway and entered the living room, Da Jung froze on the spot.
The sight that met her eyes was a total mess.
Every drawer had been pulled out, with items strewn all over the floor.
The situation in the bedroom visible in her peripheral vision was no different. Everything from the wardrobe to the dresser looked as if it had been rummaged through in search of something.
The ramen cup and soju bottle she had been eating were rolling around on the table, and unfamiliar clothes were scattered on the sofa.
The current time was 8 PM.
The time she finished shopping was around 2 PM.
It was around the same time when she had called Suk Hee to bring Shi Woo to the cafe.
Thus, the house that had been empty for approximately six hours was filled with signs of human activity.

A creepy chill ran up her spine.
She didn’t have time to think or make any judgements. Da Jung hurriedly turned Shi Woo towards the entrance.
The issue of who the intruder was came later. Reporting to the police was also something to do after leaving the place.
It was when they were hurrying towards the entrance. The bathroom door in the middle of the hallway swung open with a loud noise.
Again, frozen in place, Da Jung’s wide eyes trembled violently.
Bright light spilled out from the open door, and a dark shadow stretched across it.
When an indescribable figure crawled out of that door, Da Jung swallowed her breath with a horrified face.
“Huh? When did you get here?”
A man in a running shirt and trunk underwear nonchalantly scratched his belly as he spoke.
That man, whom she feared to even see in her dreams, was Seo Nam Sik.
Terror crept over her. Her mind wasn’t working properly. But her instincts were quick.
Da Jung quickly took out her cellphone. Her heart pounded as if it was about to explode at any moment.

Her hands trembled as she pressed the three digits, 112. Just as she discovered the emergency button and was about to press it, the cellphone was snatched from Da Jung’s hand.
Startled, Da Jung quickly put Shi Woo behind her and stepped back.
Nam Sik, who was looking at the phone screen, curled his lips into a smirk. Simultaneously, the phone flew to the floor, crashing with a loud noise.
The excited Nam Sik began to stomp on the shattered phone.
Feeling Shi Woo’s body stiffen at the violent scene, Da Jung, facing him on guard, yelled out without thinking.
“Shi Woo, go to your room! Go and lock the door!”
At his mother’s instruction, Shi Woo immediately turned and ran to his room.
“Lock the door! Don’t come out until I tell you to!”
Click. Hearing the sound of the door locking, Da Jung finally felt some relief.
Nam Sik, who had been stomping on the phone, grumbled and held his waist. Da Jung, who had been hesitating, quickly grabbed a stand lamp that was in the living room.
Pointing the slender, just over a meter long, stand at Nam Sik, he let out a sneer as if it was amusing.
“What are you doing?”
“Do, don’t come any closer! Get out of my house right now!”
Her warning voice, trembling with fear, was mixed with panting breaths.
“Do you treat people like bugs! Just like this!”
Nam Sik, who yelled furiously, swiped his hand. Startled by the threatening gesture, Da Jung dropped the stand and collapsed on the spot.
She tried to pull herself together for Shi Woo’s sake, but her vision kept spinning.
It felt as if the terror from 14 years ago was being replayed.
I had to pull myself together. For Siwoo, I had to regain my composure by any means.

My trembling hands, like those of a bush clover, groped again for the stand on the floor, but Namsik beat me to it.
Bang!!
Kicked by a fierce slipper, the stand flew and crashed under the storage cabinet. Fragments of the shattered bulb scattered widely.
Frightened, Dajeong whimpered and covered her ears. But the whining noise did not leave her eardrums, no matter how much she blocked them.
Namsik, shuffling in his slippers, approached and grabbed Dajeong’s hem as if it was a scruff.
“Hey! I can visit my little brother’s house, can’t I? Do you really have to make such a fuss, huh?”
It was really annoying. It made my teeth chatter when he insisted that we were family, and it sent chills down my spine when he acted like an older brother.
Dajeong mustered up her courage.
“In… In a little while, the child’s father will come. When he comes… He won’t let you get away with it. So, leave before he comes. Then… I won’t call the cops. I mean it.”
She showed some mercy at the end, but Namsik just snickered.
“She sees me as a real fool, huh? Hey, hey.”
Namsik raised his finger and nudged Dajeong’s forehead.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
