Though she couldn’t go back to the beginning without any wounds, she felt she could now give Sujin a place in her heart.
From now on, she really wanted to see Sujin as her sister.
However, the Sujin who had been guarding her side until deep into the night disappeared during a brief moment of sleep.
And since that day until now, she was nowhere to be found.
With a heavy heart, Suyeon looked at Donghun without concealing her emotions.
“…No. She didn’t contact me.”
“Ah…”
Donghun sighed, narrowing his eyes.
Although he asked out of curiosity, it seemed like he said something unnecessary.
Considering explaining now, Suyeon hesitated, but judging from Suyeon’s expression, it didn’t seem like she would easily let it go.
Eventually, Donghun, emptying his heart, detached his luck with a sigh.
“In fact, I happened to see Sujin last time.”
“Sujin? Where?”
Suyeon stared at Donghun with an urgency that hadn’t been there before.
The more Suyeon pressed, the more awkward Donghun felt, but he persistently conveyed news about Sujin.
“I went to Cheonan for a meeting, and she was working at a café there.”
“Sujin is working?”
Suyeon’s facial muscles, which had never been stiff before, tightened.
It was unbelievable. Sujin, working?
“I tried to bring her to Seoul, persuaded her continuously. She didn’t listen. Even when I asked for her contact information, she refused. She said she couldn’t stay there due to her schedule and promised to contact you if she felt uncomfortable.”
“…”
“At that time, she agreed, but in the end, she didn’t do it.”
Donghun let out a deep breath, glancing at Suyeon’s reaction.
Yet, as he spoke, Suyeon sank deeper into her thoughts.
“Don’t worry too much. Her complexion looks much better than before when I talked about you. If her expression wavered at your name, maybe it’s not too late for her to contact you?”
At the end of his words, Donghun gently lifted a smile.
It was a smile that comforted the heart just by looking at it.
However, Suyeon’s pupils still shook with anxiety.
At that moment, Inho, who had left the place earlier, parked the car in front of them.
Inho, who had finished showering, pretended to drink water while observing Suyeon.
She became lost in sudden contemplation, and even after arriving home, she couldn’t gather her thoughts for a long time.
Having experienced an accident over the stock transfer issue with Chunho, she wondered if it would be better to leave it alone. However, she couldn’t do that as she was genuinely worried.
“Suyeon.”
Inho cautiously sat next to Suyeon, looking at her.
“Ah… Did you shower? I was exhausted from finishing the shoot and meeting Grandfather right away. Lie down quickly.”
Suyeon mumbled with a vacant face and went inside the bed.
As if she was going to lie down neatly, she soon straightened her body and turned towards the wall.
He knew from past experiences that it was the posture she took when she had something on her mind.
Usually, the next day, she would talk about what was bothering her. So he didn’t usually ask first, but for some reason, today, he felt that he shouldn’t leave her alone.
Inho lay down close to Suyeon.
Then he kissed her exposed shoulder on the blanket.
“While I was gone to get the car, what happened?”
He asked carefully, but there was no answer.
Instead, irregular breathing gently tapped on Inho’s eardrums.
Inho was convinced that something had happened during his absence, but he didn’t press Suyeon. Instead, he waited for her to turn around while leaving a tickling kiss on her shoulder and neck.
The wait wasn’t long. Unable to endure the ticklish sensation, she turned her body, looking at him with her neck crunched.
“…Donghun said he saw Sujin.”
Suyeon revealed the story she heard from Donghun, unable to hide her sad feelings. In the midst of talking about her newfound worries as a belated family member, she occasionally choked up.
Listening solemnly to Suyeon’s words, Inho occasionally kissed her cheek or forehead, as if unable to endure, whenever she talked.
Each time, Suyeon pushed Inho away, glaring at him with narrowed eyes.
“Ha, Mr. Inho. Donghun said Sujin is working in Cheonan?”
“Yeah, I heard.”
“He said Sujin would contact me, but I haven’t received any messages.”
“I heard that too.”
“Ha, is it time for kisses now?”
Unable to stand it, Suyeon twisted her eyebrows and pushed Inho’s shoulder hard.
However, Inho didn’t mind and clung to Suyeon again.
In fact, Inho hadn’t told Suyeon that he had been consistently in touch with Sujin.
The first contact with Sujin was about a year ago when Inho asked a detective agency to find out about Sujin’s whereabouts.
On the day he received Sujin’s address from the detective agency, Inho headed straight to Sujin.
At first, Sujin was surprised to see him, but soon she relaxed her expression and shared the stories that had happened during that time.
Compared to before, many things had changed in her appearance.
Just before getting up from her seat, Sujin made a request.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
