Although he wasn’t thrilled about being nagged on his least favorite topic, he was genuinely glad to see the elders after a long time.
“At least I stayed up till this hour to see your face, so it was worth it.”
“If you had told me you were coming, I would have come home earlier.”
“I didn’t tell you because I thought you might do that. You can see an old man’s face when you’re not busy. No need to delay your work for that.”
“Please let me know next time you have time. I’ll treat you to a meal at a nice place.”
“I’ll hold you to that.”
“Of course.”
Dong Hun nodded his head emphatically in response.
The old man, who had been locking eyes with Dong Hun, now smiled kindly and got up from his seat.
“I’ve seen Dong Hun, so I should be going now.”
“It’s so late already. Why not stay over for the night?”
“No, that’s alright.”
“Come on, stay over.”
“Why? Want to lie down next to me and share some tender moments? If you’re lonely, find a pretty old lady, not me.”
“You really joke about everything.”
“No joke. If you’re serious, let me know. I’ll even play matchmaker for you.”
“Get out of my house.”
Chairman Nam’s attitude changed immediately at the old man’s teasing, but his eyes still showed concern as he watched the old man getting ready to leave.
“Should I have my driver take you?”
“That talk never tires you? I’m different from you; my legs are still strong, so keep your worries to yourself.”
The old man robustly rejected Chairman Nam’s offer and headed towards the entrance without looking back, his steps steady and unhesitant, belying his age.
In contrast, Chairman Nam could barely walk even with a cane, his back bent.
“Come on, take the car!”
“How many times do I have to say no! Worry about yourself and rest.”
“Hey! Hey, Chun Ho!”
Chairman Nam loudly called out to Chun Ho as he left through the inner door, but he didn’t turn around.
Watching this, Dong Hun went to Chairman Nam’s side and supported him with a familiar gesture.
“Why worry about him when he’s so fit and healthy, Grandpa?”
“Appearances can be deceiving. Nobody knows what might be wearing away inside. Look at me. Until three years ago, I was just as upright and stubborn as him.”
“You’re still upright and stubborn, and in good health.”
“That boy, always saying the right things.”
Chairman Nam looked at Dong Hun, not without affection.
His intentions were clear in his gaze.
He would segue into talking about marriage under the guise of health concerns.
It seemed best for Dong Hun to escort Chairman Nam to his bedroom and then retreat to his own room.
Dong Hun hastened his pace, appearing relaxed.
Early in the morning.
In Ho hurried out of the house, using a shoot as an excuse.
Su Yeon had insisted on preparing a quick breakfast, but there wasn’t time.
Today’s shoot was scheduled for after lunch, and to meet Young Sun before then, he was pressed for time.
In Ho, unbeknownst to Su Yeon, put on a hat deeply and got into a taxi.
The taxi started moving without the driver recognizing him.
After confirming he was headed to Seongbuk-dong, In Ho took out his phone.
He needed to send a brief message to Myung Woo to avoid missing each other.
After sending the hastily written message, In Ho turned his gaze out of the car window.
He recalled the phone conversation he had with Young Sun while Su Yeon was showering the night before.
“Mother, are you free tomorrow morning?”
“Tomorrow morning? Why so sudden. Is something wrong, son?”
“It’s not that. I have something to tell you.”
He didn’t divulge the details, just checked if she was free in the morning.
Throughout the brief call, he kept an eye on the bathroom door, worried Su Yeon might finish showering sooner than expected.
“What’s the matter…”
In Ho muttered to himself with a troubled expression.
He had pretended it was nothing during the call with Young Sun, but there was indeed something on his mind.
There had been a change in his feelings recently, and he wanted to resolve some matters because of it.
However, he was clueless about how to address the issue.
That was why he decided to meet Young Sun.
In Ho sighed softly.
Contrary to his expectation of heavy traffic during the commute time, the car was rapidly approaching Seongbuk-dong.
Thanks to the skillful driving of the taxi driver, who looked seasoned with experience, In Ho arrived smoothly.
As soon as In Ho entered the Seongbuk-dong house, Young Sun greeted him with a worried face.
“Son, what’s going on?”
“Where’s father?”
“He’s already left for work. Tell me what’s going on quickly. I couldn’t sleep all night worrying.”
In Ho silently looked at Young Sun.
Her claim of not sleeping wasn’t a lie, as her skin looked more haggard than usual.
He pondered for a moment on how to start the conversation.
In the meantime, he glanced around the house.
“Let’s go to the room first.”
“To the room? Why?”
“I want to talk to you quietly.”
In Ho said, pushing Young Sun’s back.
There was no one else to overhear them, but it was better to be cautious.
As soon as they entered the bedroom, Young Sun, looking anxious, urged him.
“Now tell me. What’s going on?”
“Please sit down first.”
“Son, I’m really anxious.”
Young Sun frowned and pressed In Ho for answers.
Despite that, In Ho nonchalantly sat down in front of the tea table.
It was when Young Sun, frustrated, was about to grab her temples.
“I want to get Su Yeon disowned from TK Group.”
In Ho blurted out the words he had been keeping inside.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
