“We can’t just ignore it today because it’s ovulation day.” Su Yeon’s voice was extremely dry.
In Ho, who had just come out of the bathroom, drying his wet hair, cast a glance of disgust her way.
Su Yeon kept her mouth tightly shut.
This wasn’t the first time she had received such a gaze, but that day it felt particularly painful and humiliating.
“I came in a little earlier. Are you saying that without knowing that I have to go out again after not sleeping for a few hours because of the shoot?”
“But still…”
“Let’s do it in moderation, just in moderation.”
In Ho’s voice was full of irritation and fatigue.
Just that was enough to make her feel suffocated, and the deep sigh that was added to it seemed to strangle Su Yeon’s throat.
“Wasn’t what you wanted from me just marriage, nothing more? Why do you keep asking for more and more…!”
In Ho fired off harshly as if the frustration that had been building up had exploded.
And then suddenly he stopped speaking.
His face showed that he had realized his mistake too late.
“Ah, I’m so tired that I blurted out nonsense. Forget what I just said.”
In Ho narrowed his eyes and tossed the towel he had been holding onto the vanity.

Su Yeon gently closed her eyes.
Her neatly lowered eyelashes trembled slightly.
But even at the sight of Su Yeon like this, In Ho just shook his head as if he was sick of it.
He turned his steps towards the room door, not the bed, shaking his head in disgust.
“I’ll be in the guest room studying the script and sleeping, you go to sleep first.”
Bang―
With a fairly rough sound and a sharp wind, Su Yeon’s heart was slashed and passed by.
When she belatedly opened her eyes, Su Yeon was the only one in the spacious room.
Yet the harsh voice continued to pierce Su Yeon’s eardrums.
Zzak―

“What exactly are you doing right since you came into our house as a daughterinlaw!”
It had been quite some time since she was slapped, but her cheeks were still burning.
Su Yeon slowly turned her head.
Her pathetic reflection shone in the mirror attached to the wall opposite her.
The black slip dress she had worn for the night with In Ho, her long hair straightened to suit his taste.
And the swollen, flushed cheek.
Su Yeon had dimmed the lights so as not to reveal her different face to In Ho after he had entered the bathroom.
She had done it herself.
But then…
“Huk.”
It was sad.
“Ha, huee…”
Her chest hurt so much that she couldn’t hold back her tears.

She had gone to such lengths to hide the slap she had received from her motherinlaw, but she must have wanted him to notice.
She must have wanted to whine that she was so tired that she could die any moment.
She must have wanted him to ask when it had started, why she had been bearing it alone without saying a word until now, did she want to hear him say that.
Unable to stop her tears, Su Yeon hugged her knees.
‘…I really don’t want to live.’
The thought she had several times a day was repeated like a habit.
But even then, she couldn’t just die as she wished.
In Ho’s absence, she had to be watched by a helper old lady sent by her inlaws, and the few times she went out, she was monitored by a driver arranged by her parents.
“Ha…”
Su Yeon exhaled a heavy sigh.
She was so tired.
She had already felt her limit a while ago.

Even so, she had barely managed to hold on, telling herself ‘just a little more’ every morning.
But now, even that mantra was no longer effective.
The small pocket in the depths of her heart was filled to the brim with the times she had been hurt, to the point where it was about to burst.
Knowing that, Su Yeon still stuffed the events of that day into the pocket in her heart.
Even if this pocket bursts someday and she could no longer bear it, she didn’t care.
After all, she had no more desires in her current life.
Burying her face deeper between her knees, Su Yeon continued to cry.
The horribly lonely sleepless night had begun again, without fail.
((())) ((())) ((()))
“How can you say that to me?”
“…”
“Say something. How could you do this to me!”

The woman asked as if pleading, but In Ho remained silent with a lost look on his face.
The woman’s gaze that had been watching In Ho wavered for a moment.
But it was only for a brief moment.
The woman, a seasoned veteran, quickly reigned in her emotions and with resentful hands, struck In Ho’s chest.
It was a signal to regain his composure.
However, In Ho was unable to pull himself out of his deep thoughts.
“Cut!”
Finally, the director’s annoyed voice echoed through the set.
It was already the seventh NG.
Yu Ri let out a deep sigh and grabbed In Ho’s arm, shaking it.
“Oppa.”
His hands, lightly shaking, did not flinch at all, regardless of what he was thinking.

“Oppa!”
She shook him a little more roughly and called out to In Ho loudly.
Only then did the focus return to In Ho’s absent eyes.
“Ah, sorry. What did you say?”
“Oppa, today, really……”
“In Ho, what’s wrong with you today, really? Why can’t you concentrate like this!”
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
Here’s the story synopsis:
