This place was often referred to as the night, rather than by a proper name.
Endless night. A bizarre land where the occasional day as bright as noon made it feel more like a disaster.
So it was natural to carry something shining if it wasn’t a time to avoid monsters like now.
Could it be because of that?
Beril only saw black outside the window. The starlit night sky and the horizon could not even be distinguished.
The knights were moving well through such a place.
Perhaps because their eyes were accustomed to the darkness.
How far had they gone?
―Thud!
“!”

The carriage shook violently. Did it get caught on a stone? Beril looked out of the window, startled.
It seemed like something was visible outside this time.
“Be ready!”
A frantic voice burst from beside the carriage at that moment.
Ready for what? An ambush?
Beril sat up halfway.
Swish, the sight that greeted her when she opened the window was a knight. That silverhaired knight she had seen earlier.
Her green eyes met with his.
“What’s happening outside?”
The knight with green eyes had his sword halfdrawn. The cool outside air flowed into the window, enveloping Beril.

Was it the chill or a shiver, Beril’s body trembled slightly.
She felt it instinctively. Something was near this halted carriage.
And it wasn’t something friendly to us.
“You’ll find it more comfortable to stay here without looking. Of course,”
The knight glanced ahead and said,
“If you’re not planning to stay long, it doesn’t matter if you see it.”
It was a strange statement, seemingly kind but not.
It seemed to imply an unpleasant sight….
He must think I suspect them of being demons because I pointed at Vain. Is ‘If you’re not planning to stay long’ meant to be taken as ‘If you’re going to accuse and leave soon’?
If so…

Beril neatly tucked away her curiosity and turned her gaze away from outside.
Of course, she was scared. It was a gamble. But what difference would it make if she saw the threatening presence outside?
It’s not me who needs to swing a sword, but them.
“…You will protect us, right?”
Beril’s reaction left the knight speechless for a moment. His green eyes studied her for a brief moment before slightly lowering.
“Of course.”
It was a confident word.
“It will be over soon.”
At those words, Beril closed the window as if to say she believed him.
―Click.

“Phew.”
Only then did she let out a tense sigh that those outside could not hear.
It still felt like the tension had eased a bit. Was it because of those calm green eyes, or…
‘It will be over soon.’
Was it thanks to that confident voice?
―Thump!
There was a noisy sound.
But the noise beyond the carriage walls seemed to resonate from a somewhat distant place.
They said demons use magic, but in this land filled with demons, meeting an unknown enemy strangely gave a reassuring feeling. Was this magic too?
In a place where she knew no one, where an unknown threat was before her.

―Roar!
The howl of a monster.
―Clang!
―Haah!
The shout and the clash of swords, and a force sweeping past like a chilly wind.
“Ah….”
It resembled the dark blackness that covered this ‘night.’
Real demons.
She knew it. Duke Vain was certainly a demon, and since demons live together, they must be demons too.
But…

Suddenly tense again, Beril bit her lip.
This place was much closer to the ‘edge of the world,’ unlike Orobas or Ubar, which she had visited in her previous life. A place stained with night.
The family who guarded the front line, fighting monsters, was also the one least suspected.
Clearly a land of demons.
“But why….”
Why do they kill monsters? They must have been born with the same power.
But there was no time to ponder for long.
―Screech!
The howl sounded again.
It was the sound of a monster dying. If she had been looking outside, she would have had to see something grotesque, spurting blood and collapsing.

The knight was indeed kind.
―Thump thump.
It seemed like a signal to the end, even knocking on the door.
But those who show such kindness are also evil. Different from humans.
“I will depart.”
A voice was heard from outside.
They seemed very accustomed to dealing with demons. And at that moment.
“Ah…….”
A stain on the window that hadn’t been noticed earlier was visible.
What was trickling down looked like blood. Had there been a fierce battle nearby that splattered the blood?
But the knight’s face remained unfazed.

They were used to it. To the bloodspattering, liferisking battles.
“…….”
Beril felt her body chill at the sight of the bloodstains, as if realizing something.
Night. A pitchdark place.
A place where even what was right in front of her couldn’t be properly identified, this place proved to be entirely different from the world she had known.
This was a world familiar to demons.
And in the middle of that place, holding a torch, she was nothing more than an uninvited guest, a saint.
―Thud!
The carriage started moving again.
(This is a time separator.)

My Arch-enemy Sealed My Memory and Said That He is My Husband
This is an incredibly captivating story that you absolutely shouldn’t miss! I’ll give a brief introduction here, and below you’ll find a detailed synopsis of the plot.
The female lead is a fierce and powerful demon king. The male lead is a once-in-a-millennium celestial lord, admired by the entire cultivation world.
They are equally matched, legendary rivals who have battled for centuries.
In the final duel, the female lead is gravely injured. The male lead saves her, seals her memories, and hides her true identity. He tells her that he is her fiancé. His entire life has been flawless—except for the one thing he never expected, never controlled, and never wanted to control: falling for his greatest enemy. She is his inner demon, his obsession.
When the female lead regains her memories, she is furious at his deception.
She makes his life a living hell.
And somehow, the male lead—possibly a total masochist—doesn’t mind at all. In fact, he’s happy she’s paying attention to him.
Yep, we’re back to my favorite trope: male lead suffering. If you love this kind of story, jump into the pit with me now!!!
Intro
Dong Xia lost her memory.
Her handsome and extremely powerful fiancé Li Qing comforted her: “It’s okay if you can’t remember. I’ll always be with you.”
Everyone thought Dong Xia’s ancestors must have burned incense to get such a perfect fiancé. He was the number one person in the immortal realm, yet he remained chaste and only loved her.
…
The day before marrying her fiancé, Dong Xia finally remembered everything.
She wasn’t suffering from memory loss at all.
Her arch-enemy had made her fake her death, destroyed her cultivation, replaced her memories, and pretended to be her deeply in love fiancé.
No wonder he said, “It’s okay if you can’t remember”!
Dong Xia laughed coldly as she pulled out her long knife: Li Qing, prepare to die 🙂
*
Li Qing, as the supreme being of the immortal realm, was the people’s shining beacon.
The only unknown stain in his life was his affection for Dong Xia, the ruler of the demon realm.
In the final battle of the war between immortals and demons, the sky collapsed and the earth shattered. The ruler of the demon realm was finally slain under the sword of the supreme being of the immortal realm, and everyone in the immortal realm applauded.
The cultivation world lost a ruler of the demon realm.
And in the back mountain of Li Qing’s cave dwelling, he secretly hid away a fiancée.
Notes:
1. The female lead is white on the outside, black on the inside, and the queen of flattery; the male lead repeatedly tests the edge of darkness, a VIP guest at the crematorium.
2. Fantasy cultivation world setting.
