Taming the Wicked Professor (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 15
Chief Dong Gun first asked her about the Wilson’s disease patient who had come to the ER last night.
“I’ve only ever read about it in textbooks and never actually seen a real patient. Did you see the patient yourself, Dr. Moon?”
“The patient was 15 years old.”
As soon as she mentioned the age first, Dong Gun clicked his tongue sympathetically.
“That’s way too young. I heard if it manifests before age 15, liver complications are common—so that must be why cirrhosis developed.”
While she was explaining the symptoms of Wilson’s disease to the chief, she heard nurses passing by outside the ward.
“Why is Professor Choi already here on the ward?”
“Seemed like he was looking for someone.”
Na Young’s heart sank.
She never expected he’d personally come looking for her just because she hadn’t picked up the lunch box.
For someone of his position as a professor, chasing after a woman through the hospital!
Her mistake had been forgetting that he truly didn’t care about what others thought.
Na Young urgently said to Dong Gun,
“Chief, my stomach suddenly hurts—can I go to the restroom quickly?”
Seeing how genuinely unwell she looked, Dong Gun immediately granted permission.
“Sure, I can handle the rest of the patients on my own. Go ahead.”
As soon as she got his approval, Na Young hurried out of the ward and ran toward the women’s restroom.
Somehow, she’d ended up playing hide-and-seek with Professor Choi Tae Hyuk in the hospital—something she’d never even done as a child.
Sitting anxiously on the toilet, she kept checking the time on her phone, when suddenly the screen lit up with a new message.
Na Young nearly threw her phone across the room.
Whose fault is this, anyway?!
It felt so unfair and utterly foolish that only she was panicking, hiding alone in the restroom like this.
Na Young abruptly stood up from the toilet.
If she kept hiding, she’d just keep scrambling helplessly in Professor Choi Tae Hyuk’s palm.
This wasn’t merely an issue between a resident and a professor—it was a matter between a man and a woman—so she needed to stand confidently in front of him instead.
With renewed determination, she flung open the restroom door and stepped out.
Bracing herself, Na Young strode out of the restroom, only to immediately spin around and dash back in upon spotting Professor Choi Tae Hyuk leaning against the corridor wall.
“Ugh!”
She pressed both palms against the wall and admitted defeat.
She just couldn’t be that shameless—it seemed utterly impossible for her.
Professor Choi Tae Hyuk clearly lived without worrying about others’ opinions,
but Na Young had always lived too quietly and obediently.
This was a contest heavily skewed against her from the start.
It felt like the side effect of someone who’d never once crossed a line suddenly doing something reckless.
She deeply realized that staying within boundaries was the only way to live life smoothly.
Beep beep.
Her phone rang again.
Certain it was another message from Professor Choi, Na Young nervously checked it.
Seriously, whose fault is all this?!
Despite her inner fury, she timidly pressed herself against the wall, peering out cautiously with just her eyes.
Professor Choi Tae Hyuk was no longer visible, and only the lunch box sat alone in the hallway—
the very one Mrs. Hwang had prepared,
which, if Michelin stars existed for lunch boxes, would surely earn three.
Only after confirming he was gone did Na Young finally step out of the restroom.
She walked over to the lunch box he’d left behind and crouched down in front of it.
“Well, Mrs. Hwang certainly hasn’t done anything wrong.”
She hugged the lunch box and stood up.
No matter how she thought about it, Professor Choi Tae Hyuk’s sudden behavior didn’t seem genuine at all.
He was notoriously harsh and ruthless toward residents—a true “viper professor.”
So how could he possibly act purely just toward her?
Trending
Though the man she met that night had seemed flawless, she now strongly suspected he might have been deliberately acting to charm her.
The difference between them was just too drastic—like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
She needed to clearly distinguish between the Professor Choi Tae Hyuk at the hospital and the one at the club.
It might be best to treat them as two completely different people.
***
Ever since Professor Choi Tae Hyuk arrived at the hospital, rounds had become a constant trial for her—but today was the worst yet.
Na Young couldn’t even look him in the eye.
So she kept her gaze locked on her notebook, desperately trying to avoid eye contact with him.
“Dr. Moon Na Young.”
But Professor Choi could command her at any moment—he was her professor, after all.
Whenever he called her name in the hospital, regardless of her mood, she had to respond promptly and attentively.
“Yes.”
As she answered, she subtly hid behind Chief Dong Gun’s back.
Relieved to see only a sliver of Professor Choi’s face hidden behind Dong Gun’s large head, her relief vanished the moment he deliberately shifted his position to meet her eyes directly.
The instant their eyes locked, Na Young felt her heart lurch painfully.
She really might develop arrhythmia at this rate.
His voice echoed in her head like tinnitus, reminding her he’d never forgotten their night together.
Because of that, she missed half of what he was saying about patient Lee Su Ji.
“I’m sorry—I didn’t catch that. Could you repeat it, Professor?”
She spoke honestly, and Professor Choi showed no leniency just because he remembered their night together.
“You didn’t hear? Are you going to say in the operating room, ‘Oops, I was distracted—let’s just do it again’?”
Strangely, being scolded by him actually gave her a sense of stability.
Something was definitely off.
That day, Na Young instinctively avoided Professor Choi, which led her to the room of patient Hwang Myung Soon, who was receiving a liver transplant from her daughter-in-law.
Ever since Professor Choi had dumped the family dispute onto her, Na Young had frequently checked on Hwang Myung Soon’s room. Watching the patient’s daughter care for her mother devotedly made her realize just how tricky it was to side with anyone.
The son and his wife found it difficult to unconditionally sacrifice for a mother-in-law who’d made their lives hard for years, while the daughter, worried about her ailing mother, kept urging for the surgery.
Neither side was in the wrong.
Today, oddly enough, the ever-present daughter was absent, and the donor daughter-in-law was at the bedside instead.
Na Young entered the room and greeted her first.
“You’re here today instead.”
“Oh! My sister-in-law had a school event for her daughter.”
Na Young looked at Hwang Myung Soon’s aged face, now asleep, and explained to the daughter-in-law,
“If she gets the surgery and proper post-op care, she can live healthily for a long time.”
The daughter-in-law stared expressionlessly at Hwang Myung Soon’s face.
And Na Young understood.
The reason she’d agreed to the surgery wasn’t for her mother-in-law.
“Who did you decide to have the surgery for?”
Na Young asked impulsively.
While she herself couldn’t even sort out a simple romantic issue and kept running away, this woman had managed to make such a difficult decision.
Without hesitation, the daughter-in-law replied,
“My son.”
She didn’t want her son to remember her as the person who let his grandmother die.
That reason alone seemed enough—her face finally softened into a smile.
Compared to this woman’s burden, Na Young realized her own worries were trivial, and her restless heart gradually calmed.
***
Na Young went straight to Professor Choi Tae Hyuk’s office, carrying the lunch box bag.
This problem couldn’t be solved just by avoiding him.
She needed to talk properly and settle things once and for all.
Knock knock.
She heard a voice from inside telling her to come in.

Na Young took a deep breath and opened the door.
Though she’d visited his office many times before, this moment felt by far the most nerve-wracking.
“Professor, I really enjoyed the lunch.”
She placed the lunch bag on the table and began with a polite thank-you.
When Tae Hyuk started to stand from his desk, Na Young quickly reached out to stop him.
“Please stay seated. It’ll be easier for me to talk this way.”
Tae Hyuk, who had half-risen, slowly sat back down without taking his eyes off her.
He crossed his arms and watched her intently.
Unable to meet his gaze directly, Na Young lowered her eyes slightly.
“You sat down to speak comfortably, so why aren’t you saying anything?”
Prompted by him, Na Young cleared her throat awkwardly and began, anything but comfortable.
“I’d like to keep our relationship strictly professional while we’re at the hospital.”
“So, does that mean we can kiss outside the hospital?”
His unexpected, bold remark nearly made her knees buckle.
Knowing that giving in here would mean getting dragged along by him indefinitely, Na Young stiffened her resolve and pushed back.
“As a first-year resident, I’m far too busy to even leave the hospital.”
“So you’re not actually saying no, then.”
As the corner of his mouth lifted, her brow furrowed in frustration.
“I think it’s inappropriate for a professor to act this way toward a resident.”
“Then let’s do it outside the hospital.”
“I just told you—I don’t have time to leave the hospital!”
By now, her face was flushed crimson from agitation.
Tae Hyuk ran a hand through his hair, looking exasperated.
Seeing he wasn’t outright dismissing her situation, Na Young tried to reason with him.
“You pretended not to remember that night in the first place, anyway.”
“You were the one who put on a mask and avoided me.”
His words left her momentarily speechless.
“If I’d known you were the new professor here, I would never have slept with you that night.”
“If I’d met you for the first time here at the hospital, I wouldn’t have slept with you either.”
His equally blunt reply made her eyes waver.
She’d been the one to say it first—yet somehow, she was the one getting hurt.
“But all of that’s just hypothetical. The truth is, we’ve already crossed the line. To me, Moon Na Young isn’t just a first-year resident at Hangang University Hospital—she’s the woman I spent the night with.”
As he spoke, Professor Choi stood up and walked toward her.
The closer he got, the more violently her heart pounded.
It felt like caution—but also something entirely different.
Because her emotions were tangled and unclear, she couldn’t bring herself to speak recklessly.
Na Young just stared up at him with wide eyes.
He stopped just one step away.
Standing perfectly straight, hands tucked into his pants pockets, he gave a cynical smile—
as if to say this whole situation was utterly infuriating.
“What am I supposed to do? I’m already halfway in love with you.”
Na Young looked up at him, utterly dumbfounded.
Why did this man have to be so recklessly selfish?
And yet, even more unbearable was the fact that she didn’t dislike it—and foolishly, her heart fluttered.
She’d already suffered enough from that one reckless mistake. If she let herself waver again at his words, it’d be disastrous.
I really don’t have time to date you.
But what am I supposed to do?!
Male lead is a Divorced Husband
She said to him: “Tell me, what makes you like me? I’ll change it!”

Liu Changning transmigrated into a female cannon fodder character in a female-dominant novel.
After reading the first half of the novel’s plot, the first thing she did upon transmigration was to divorce the Pan Jinlian-style male protagonist she had just married.
She indulged herself, pretending to be ugly and poor.
But as time passed, the way that man looked at her became more and more unusual…
Liu Changning was dumbfounded: Tell me, what makes you like me? I’ll change!
――
This lifetime, Pei Yuanshao was rejected by the same woman twice!
The first time, she drove him away. Forced by the situation, he endured the waves of anger in his heart, yielding and humbling himself.
That person lay slanted on a rocking chair, her sallow face emotionless: “If you don’t want a divorce, go cook!”
Pei Yuanshao’s face was dark and gloomy: “You!”
The second time, after the crisis in Jinling City was resolved, the new emperor sent someone to pick him up. He turned around, stammering: “I… I have to go. If you keep me…”
That person lay on the kang bed, her back to him, as if she had long anticipated this day, crisp and clear: “Goodbye!”
Pei Yuanshao was so angry his fingers trembled: “You… you!”
The mission of family and country made him restrain himself, averting his eyes and turning to leave this broken household.
Two years later, they met again. Seeing her ethereal face, his body shook like a sieve.
“She was originally a ‘she’!”
At the Qionglin Banquet, the top scholar of the imperial examination, a talented person with exceptional speech and conduct, all the unmarried young gentlemen from aristocratic families looked at her with shy and timid eyes.
The peerless imperial official Pei Yuanshao felt the anger in his heart erupt. He pointed at the woman surrounded by the crowd at the Qionglin Banquet, his thin lips slightly curled: “Little sister, I wants that person to be the wife-master of my Mingde Prince Manor.”
