Getting to watch a movie together turned out to be quite a challenge.
Eventually, twenty minutes after the movie started, they managed to enter the auditorium. Once seated in the darkness, Na Young sighed deeply. Tae Hyuk, sitting beside her, seemed uncomfortable with his long legs, constantly shifting them.
Na Young warned him, “Stay still until the movie ends.” Tae Hyuk froze, carefully watching her. She then gently directed his face towards the screen, instructing, “Now watch the movie.”
Having missed the beginning, the movie’s plot was unclear to them. They had bought popcorn for a snack, but having given it all away to the children, they were left without it.
Leaning towards Na Young, Tae Hyuk asked softly, “Why did you choose to watch a movie, then?”
Despite him clearly stating earlier that he falls asleep during movies, she had insisted on this plan. To him, it seemed like watching a movie was particularly important to her, although he wasn’t exactly thrilled given his friend Cha Hyun was the movie expert.
“I’ll tell you after the movie is over,” Na Young whispered, a clear indication for him to be quiet. Tae Hyuk sighed and turned his attention back to the screen.
Now, his mission was to stay awake through the movie, a feat he had never accomplished before. Determined, Tae Hyuk focused intently on every scene, even reading the street signs in the background.
His efforts paid off, as he remained alert well past the movie’s halfway mark. Feeling proud, he turned to share this achievement with Na Young, only to be shocked to see her asleep.
She had insisted on watching this movie, even after mocking him for sleeping in cinemas!

Stunned, Tae Hyuk watched her for a moment before swiftly supporting her head as it started to lean towards the next seat. Gently, he positioned her head on his shoulder, ensuring she remained asleep, and then turned back to the screen.
The movie had progressed to an unknown plotline. In a small voice, Tae Hyuk asked the sleeping Na Young, “Honestly, you don’t like movies either, do you?”
There was, of course, no response from her, and soon, Tae Hyuk also drifted off to sleep.
The two were awakened by a cinema cleaner after the movie ended. Na Young felt utterly embarrassed.
She hadn’t expected to fall asleep herself. As a first-year resident always short on sleep, she had underestimated her own exhaustion.
“The movie wasn
Embarrassed, Na Young looked at his hand and said, “Professor, the movie’s already started. We can’t keep standing here. We need to go in quickly.”
But Professor Choi Tae Hyuk showed no sign of moving.
The children who had been watching him eat popcorn were now curiously observing her. She felt like she was about to break out in a cold sweat.
“What are these kids doing here?” Na Young asked Tae Hyuk, glancing warily at the children.
“I don’t know these kids,” Tae Hyuk replied, handing the whole bucket of popcorn to them.

The children swarmed around the popcorn like bees to honey, creating a strange sight for Na Young. She wondered how a man who could make adults tremble in fear at the hospital could be so friendly with children in a cinema.
“Don’t elementary school kids also hold hands if they like each other?” Tae Hyuk asked the children. The biggest one proudly proclaimed, “Yes! I even kissed!”
Tae Hyuk then looked at Na Young as if to say, ‘See? Even kids do it. Can’t you?’
Honestly, had Tae Hyuk grabbed her hand first, Na Young might have felt awkward but wouldn’t have resisted. However, being asked to initiate was harder for her.
It was just holding hands, after all. They had already kissed, so this should have been nothing.
Na Young took a deep breath and slowly extended her hand towards him. Tae Hyuk quietly observed her movements.
It was reminiscent of the time when he, wearing a tiger mask, had offered a teddy bear, and she, after a long hesitation, had finally reached out to take it.
As her hand moved towards him, he was reminded of that small, pale hand from the past, and his heart swelled with emotion.
Just as Tae Hyuk was about to hold her hand, Thump! A chubby little hand suddenly grabbed Na Young’s hand. Both she and Tae Hyuk were surprised. One of the popcorn-eating kids had grabbed her hand and was giggling happily.
“Hey! I gave you popcorn, and this is how you repay me!” Tae Hyuk exclaimed in genuine frustration at the child, but Na Young asked him not to be angry.
