Na Young tried to open her door but was startled to find it stuck.
Peering through the slight opening, she was even more surprised to see a large ‘figure’ outside her door.
When Tae Hyuk turned his head and showed his face, Na Young realized it was Professor Choi Tae Hyuk and spoke as if scolding.
“Why are you sitting there?”
Even though she was upset, Tae Hyuk felt pleased.
“Ever since meeting you, my luck seems to have turned.”
He felt proud, even of this small coincidence, after a lifetime of being told he was unlucky.
“We stayed in Gangwon Province to sleep a few more hours. But if you’re not going to sleep, let’s just go to Seoul now.”
However, Na Young’s next words wiped the smile off Tae Hyuk’s face.
So much for his sudden stroke of good luck.

Tae Hyuk asked in an irritated tone.
“Did you open the door just to say that?”
“Yes. Are you going to sleep? Or shall we go to Seoul?”
Tae Hyuk got up with a creaky movement and slowly walked towards the sofa, collapsing onto it.
His tall frame made even the large sofa look cramped.
Watching his actions through the door, Na Young stepped out more when she saw he remained motionless after lying down.
She was holding an aromatic candle from the bedroom.
Na Young placed the candle on the table beside the sofa.
“It’s best to not think about anything when trying to sleep. Give your brain a rest.”
Lying face down, Tae Hyuk turned his head to watch her light the candle.

“It’d be better to have a drink.”
Na Young glanced at him.
“We need to drive early tomorrow. Alcohol is not an option.”
Tae Hyuk looked back at her displeased.
“You’ve been saying nothing but boring things.”
“Did you think I was fun? Then you chose the wrong person.”
As she was about to return to her room, a strong force caught her wrist and pulled her down.
She collapsed onto Professor Choi Tae Hyuk.
Startled, Na Young looked at him with wide eyes.
“What are you doing?”

She thought he was behaving badly, but Professor Choi Tae Hyuk instead reprimanded her.
“You asked me for a chance. But you’re setting boundaries again.”
Caught off guard, Na Young was slightly flustered.
“It’s because you’re not sleeping and wasting time.”
When Tae Hyuk pulled her closer, she ended up right in front of his nose.
Afraid of actually bumping into his sharp nose, Na Young held her breath.
He looked down at her and asked solemnly.
“Do you think it’s a waste of time for us to be together like this?”
“…….”
Na Young couldn’t respond immediately.

Tae Hyuk moved closer, lightly pressing his forehead against hers.
“If you really think that, I guess I’ll have to start by remodeling your thoughts.”
The light contact made her heart flutter, and Na Young felt her toes curl.
Tick, tick.
The sound of the aromatic candle burning softly enveloped them both.
Captivated by his gaze in the height of the night, Na Young found herself unable to move according to her will.
“Mun Na Young.”
Her name flowed from his lips, melting around her heart like sweet chocolate.
“Let’s kiss.”
That night, they shared many kisses.
Yet, now, looking at his lips felt as unfamiliar as their first kiss.

“Like we’re truly in love.”
The word ‘love’ seemed more foreign, causing her eyes to waver and get lost.
“Is that possible?”
Na Young was still unsure about even dating him, let alone love.
“Why not?”
As he captured her lips, his voice spread inside her.
Captured by the soft, warm sensation, Na Young couldn’t think anymore.
Tae Hyuk’s hand wrapped around her nape, pulling her deeper into the kiss.
His large frame soon overwhelmed her, pressing her down.
As her jaw lifted and her lips were consumed, the world seemed to spin.

Na Young followed him breathlessly, keeping her rising breath within.
Even if it was more desire than love, she didn’t want to run away.
She wanted to stay with him.
Wail wail wail.
The ambulance siren sound was her alarm.
She needed to get up quickly and go to the ward.
She had to check on the patients, change dressings, and make rounds.
Being a first-year resident meant having too many tasks in the morning.
Na Young instinctively reached to turn off her phone alarm but stopped, startled by what she touched.
“!”

What she had been feeling was a man’s chest, and the first thing she saw was Professor Choi Tae Hyuk’s sleeping face.
Just like that day in the past!
She tried to sit up but couldn’t, as his arm firmly embraced her.
Looking around, she realized they were lying on the living room floor.
They had ignored the wide, soft bed and the sofa, ending up on the floor!
They might as well have slept on the streets of Gangwon Province.
At least they were both properly clothed, which was a relief.
Had they lost control last night, she would have wanted to throw herself into the sea of Gangwon Province this morning.
The alarm sounded quieter than usual because it was coming from the bedroom.
Na Young pounded on Professor Choi Tae Hyuk’s chest to wake him.

“Professor! Wake up! We need to go to Seoul right now!”
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
Here’s the story synopsis:
