Tae Hyuk lifted his eyelids and looked at Na Young.
She was watching him with wary eyes.
As if she would hide in a thicket of thorns if he approached carelessly.
“Do you think I would harm you?”
Her eyes wavered at his calm question.
She knew better than anyone that she had reacted too sensitively.
Na Young was upset because she felt trapped, unable to laugh off things that others could easily.
“I just remembered something I need to do. I’ll leave now.”
Na Young, making an excuse, put down her halfeaten lunch box and stood up.
“Do you know what Mrs. Hwang did to get us to eat this eel?”
Suddenly, at the mention of the eel, Na Young paused and looked at him.
“Huh?”
Professor Choi Tae Hyuk, holding up a plump eel with his chopsticks, spoke very seriously.
“Leaving without eating this would be an insult to Mrs. Hwang’s courage and sacrifice.”
Courage and sacrifice for an eel?

“Then, should I pay for the eel?”
“The most shameful thing for a chef is a refund. Would you do that to Mrs. Hwang?”
“Okay! I’ll eat it then!”
Na Young, thinking he was going to say she hurt Mrs. Hwang again, sat back down and dug into the eel.
And she glared at Professor Choi Tae Hyuk with a discontented look.
“That was a joke, right?”
Courage, sacrifice.
There’s no way it was because of the eel.
“Grandfather often talks about driving people out of the house, and there’s only one reason.”
Professor Choi Tae Hyuk placed the last piece of eel on her rice bowl and said sharply.
“Money.”
Na Young swallowed hard.
If Mrs. Hwang got kicked out of the house because of this eel, she didn’t think she could bear it.
Oh Seung Jun looked at Tae Hyuk who had come to his room with coffee in hand, with a look that said, ‘What’s the occasion?’
Because he always had to visit first to meet him.
“Did the sun rise in the west today? What brings you to see me first?”
Tae Hyuk offered Seung Jun the coffee he’d bought before saying anything.

“You didn’t actually buy this for me to drink, did you?”
When Tae Hyuk nodded in confirmation, Seung Jun started to feel more suspicious than pleased.
“You have a favor to ask me, don’t you?”
Tae Hyuk spoke without hesitation.
“Move into my house.”
“What?”
Seung Jun made a face as if he’d heard something absurd.
“Why should I leave my perfectly good house and move into yours!”
It was an apartment he hadn’t fully paid off yet.
He would have to practice medicine for at least another 10 years to pay off the mortgage for that house.
“It would be nice to live together as friends.”
It was the first time that the word “friend” had come from Choi Tae Hyuk’s mouth.
“When have you and I ever been friends! We’re just college acquaintances.”
Cha Hyun, who would ignore when asked who was closer to him, was offended when Tae Hyuk suddenly acted friendly.
“No. Even if I can’t live with Cha Hyun, I can live with you.”
Seung Jun was momentarily touched when Tae Hyuk said so.
But he couldn’t shake off a certain uncomfortable feeling.
No matter how he thought about it, this guy was not the type to suggest living together first.

There must have been a catch.
“Still, I like our house that I bought with my own money.”
So Seung Jun flatly refused.
From that day on, it was often seen that Professor Choi Tae Hyuk was chasing after Professor Oh Seung Jun in the ward.
As a result, the rumor that Professor Choi Tae Hyuk preferred men over women became even stronger.
The person most excited about this was Seung Hee, who was living with Professor Oh Seung Jun.
“It looks like my brother will soon be cohabiting with Professor Choi Tae Hyuk.”
Na Young couldn’t be as happy as Seung Hee, knowing that the two professors were engulfed in such rumors because of her.
She never thought Professor Choi Tae Hyuk would persuade Professor Oh Seung Jun so actively.
In fact, she was a little moved.
Her parents also let him live uncomfortably in the hospital accommodation rather than live dangerously alone, but Professor Choi Tae Hyuk was trying to improve her living environment, even if it meant bothering others.
No, was it really because of the black cat?

A man who is unfriendly to people but infinitely kind to animals.
She didn’t know whether to call him a bad guy or a good guy.
“If I end up living alone, come live with me in my house.”
Seung Hee, who knew that Na Young was staying in the resident’s dormitory, offered to live together first.
Na Young thanked her with a smile.
If she has a roommate to live with, her father won’t be able to oppose any more.
“But what would be a good gift for a person celebrating their 60th birthday?”
She’s meeting Mrs. Hwang tomorrow. So Na Young planned to prepare a gift.
And she was definitely going to ask about the eel.
Whether Professor Choi Tae Hyuk was teasing her, or if it was the truth.
After consulting with Seung Hee, they decided to buy a luxurious scarf as a gift for Mrs. Hwang.
Then she has to go shopping at the department store, but since Na Young didn’t have time to go to the department store, she used her brother Chan.

When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
Here’s the story synopsis:
