Returning the phone to her, he tried to pass by, but Nayeong hurriedly grabbed his coat and begged.
“Don’t meet Mr. Jang Suho. Just be mad at me.”
Taehyuk’s Adam’s apple wavered for a moment in his cold gaze, and he spoke in a calm voice that she had never heard before.
“If you mention that man’s name.”
His icy gaze seemed to cut somewhere, and her chest felt a chilling sensation.
“I feel dirty.”
Tak.
Taehyuk forcefully shook off her touch.
Nayeong stared blankly at her numb hand.
This moment felt like a dream, surreal.

But Professor Choi Taehyuk, walking away from her, was undoubtedly real.
When Taehyuk felt this miserable, the only person he could turn to was Chahyun.
The late-night movie theater staff who stayed behind informed Taehyuk that Chahyun was watching a movie.
Taehyuk headed to the screening room where Chahyun was supposedly watching the movie.
In his view, the screening room was the most useless place, but Chahyun spent the most money there.
As he opened the door and entered, he saw Chahyun alone in the spacious area, watching a movie.
The movie was a Hong Kong film from the 1980s.
Joo Yunbal was biting a toothpick and firing a gun.
Bang, bang, bang.
The sound of gunfire seemed to pierce his heart.
Thud.

Without caution, Taehyuk sat next to Chahyun, putting his legs up on the front chair.
Chahyun, aware that he had come but not taking his eyes off the screen, adhered to the principle of concentrating solely on the movie when watching.
However, Taehyuk blurted out words that went against that principle.
“Nayeong had a blind date with another guy.”
Hearing Taehyuk’s words, Chahyun immediately turned his head to look at him.
“Are you sure it’s not a misunderstanding?”
“I believe Nayeong to the point where she lied to me.”
Chahyun showed an interesting expression upon hearing that Nayeong had lied even to hide this fact.
“What lie did she tell?”
“To set up a blind date for the guy she’s matched with and Oh Seunghee.”

Taehyuk, absorbed in watching the movie, didn’t see Chahyun’s eyebrows furrowing at the mention of Oh Seunghee’s name.
“Who is that man?”
“An elite with a clean image. It seems he gets a lot of approval from Nayeong’s father at the company.”
So, he must have sent him to the hospital where Nayeong is.
Taehyuk spoke with an unjust voice.
“I asked, and both parents are alive.”
That was something ordinary people would have.
Only the two men here were extraordinarily lacking.
“Wanna drink?”
Chahyun suggested first, and Taehyuk, with a pained expression, said he had surgery tomorrow.

Instead of alcohol, Chahyun brought carbonated water for Taehyuk and filled his glass, adding a lime.
“So, what are you going to do now?”
“What can I do? I’ll just keep being furious until I die alone.”
“Breaking up?”
“Not breaking up!”
When Taehyuk burst out angrily, Chahyun nodded as if he understood.
He took a sip of carbonated water like alcohol, then, passing by, asked Taehyuk with a casual tone.
“So, what happened to that blind date you set up with that lie?”
“If that had gone well, would I be like this now?”
Taehyuk said abruptly, about to bring the glass to his lips, but feeling something strange, he turned to Chahyun.

“Why are you asking that?”
Chahyun, unusually avoiding his gaze, spoke in a tired voice.
“It seems like Oh Seunghee is making an effort to start a relationship suddenly because of what I said.”
“What did you say to her?”
It was also quite unfair for Chahyun, who felt quite a bit wronged to keep this promise with Nayeong.
The inside of the pub buzzed with the voices of intoxicated people.
Seunghee, sipping her drink, looked at Nayoung, who had been silently drinking only alcohol since earlier.
It was the first time Nayoung had suggested drinking first, and it was also the first time Seunghee had seen her consume so much alcohol.
“Did Professor Choi really scold you? What on earth happened?”
Seunghee, witnessing the transformation between the sexes, could only find it fascinating.

Nayoung put down an empty glass and muttered to herself.
“He called me dirty.”
Precisely, he said his feelings were dirty, but her ears heard it exactly that way.
“What?”
Seunghee, surprised, almost spat out the meat she was eating.
“The professor is too much! How can he say such insulting words to a woman!”
Now, Seunghee, more agitated than the person involved, cursed Professor Choi Taehyuk.
Nayoung, pouring another shot of soju, spoke with a self-deprecating tone.
“I did something to make him mad.”
“As long as it’s not cheating between a man and a woman, I can forgive anything.”

“Jang Sooho was my blind date.”
Seunghee, for a moment, looked at Nayoung as if she didn’t understand the meaning of those words.
And 3 seconds later, she covered her mouth with both hands in astonishment.
“Can’t believe you introduced him to me to hide it, did you?”
Nayoung raised her glass with a bitter smile.
“Yeah, am I terrible?”
“That’s right.”
Seunghee agreed and immediately bit her lips.
Seunghee acknowledged it and immediately bit her lips.
Even if Professor Choi Taehyuk was angry, he had to take Nayoung’s side because she was a friend.
Seunghee personally poured alcohol into Nayoung’s glass.

“Drink and forget. There are plenty of men in the world anyway.”
In response to Seunghee’s consolation, Nayoung frowned.
“I didn’t break up.”
Nayoung, claiming that she didn’t break up, finished a bottle of alcohol and sprawled out of the pub.
Seunghee sighed and took out her phone to make a call.
[What’s up?]Professor Choi Taehyuk also lost his temper with her.
Thinking of him as a bull in a bullfighting arena, Seunghee said,
“Nayoung was drinking at the pub and passed out. What should I do?”
If he was genuinely angry with Nayoung, he might not have come.

Professor Choi Taehyuk didn’t immediately respond.
[…….]Seunghee silently waited for Professor Choi Taehyuk’s answer while looking at the sleeping Nayoung.
[Where are you?]Her heart stabbed at those few words.
This was indeed the cycle of joy, anger, sorrow, and happiness.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
Here’s the story synopsis:
