The third attempt was ignored again.

At this rate, would she really be unable to resign? Biting her thumbnail nervously, Yeon Woo suddenly stood up.

“Section Chief, may I come see you now?”

She’d been about to storm straight into Section Chief Park from HR, but decided to at least maintain some final courtesy and called ahead first.

“Oh my, Assistant! I was just about to head to your desk.”

“Eh? Ah, yes.”

Finally, it seemed she’d get to talk about resigning. If only she’d waited five more minutes. Feeling awkward, Yeon Woo quickly sat back down and waited for Section Chief Park’s arrival.

But Section Chief Park appeared with a brand-new recruit who looked utterly stiff and terrified—someone who clearly had nothing to do with resignation matters.

“Nice to meet you! I’m new employee Kang Ji Eun!”

Could they already have brought in her replacement? Yeon Woo’s hope circuit began spinning wildly.

“I’ll do my best! Please take care of me going forward!”

“Assistant Kim Yeon Woo here is the finest mentor at our company, so learn as much as you can from her before your official assignment.”

Wait—so she was merely the next mentee to follow Hye Jin? Why assign a mentor to someone who’d already announced their resignation…?

By this point, strong suspicion arose. It felt as though the entire organization was systematically blocking Yeon Woo’s resignation.
