Taming the Dangerous Lawyer Secretly (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 15
“Kim Yeon Woo!”
Red, bloodshot eyes. A forehead glistening with sweat. Shirt buttons left undone all the way down.
He grabbed Yeon Woo, looking utterly disheveled, and anxiously parted his lips.
“Let’s talk.”
“There’s nothing to talk about. Let go of me!”
“Just hear me.”
“I said let go!”
A tug-of-war broke out between the one who refused to let go and the one trying to flee. Jun Hwi forcibly turned Yeon Woo around to face him, despite her attempts to avoid him.
“Just look at me.”
He lowered himself as much as possible to meet Yeon Woo’s downcast eyes—just like that time when he’d taken off her shoes to inspect her bare feet.
Why on earth was he being so persistently stubborn?
Yeon Woo glared at him, brimming with sharp resentment. But then—
“……”
She couldn’t understand why he, instead, wore a wounded expression.
Jun Hwi’s weary face slowly loosened its grip on Yeon Woo’s arm. Now fully released, Yeon Woo hurried down the stairs. He didn’t follow her anymore.
She ran straight to the main road and flagged down a taxi without care. On her persistently ringing phone screen, the name “Attorney Kwon Jun Hwi” floated up again and again.
She switched off her phone and sank deep into the leather seat.
9:10 a.m.—or was it already 9:15?
Either way, it was an outrageous tardiness for Yeon Woo. She’d only just opened her eyes.
“Oh my god.”
Ugh! She let out a frustrated cry, then flopped back down onto the bed.
After repeatedly drifting in and out of sleep all night, she must have slept right through the alarm she’d set for 7 a.m.
Her phone, fumbled for blindly with outstretched arms, already had a pile of worried messages from Hye Jin. Seeing them almost swayed her to go to work after all, but she bit her lip and replied that she wasn’t feeling well and would take a sick day.
It was strange. For eight years, no matter how embarrassing or awful things got, Yeon Woo had always shown up to work the very next day without fail. Yet today, she simply couldn’t bring herself to go.
She didn’t want to handle anything even remotely related to Ro And Yul. Maybe it was because she’d already made up her mind to resign—her heart had already checked out.
She tried to go back to sleep, but the same troubling thoughts that had haunted her all night suddenly surged back again.
“Attorney Kwon Jun Hwi has a terrible reputation with women. His track record is really bad.”
“Back when he was at the prosecutor’s office, he’d even bring girls into his private office for wild parties.”
Cha Han Bin’s once-secret whispers kept circling in her head.
Back then, she’d firmly believed he wasn’t that kind of man. Even now, she couldn’t fully believe it—despite what she’d seen with her own eyes.
But seriously, why did it have to happen right in the office! Shirt flung wide open! Why on earth?!
“Maybe he suddenly felt short of breath or unwell and just asked someone else for help!”
No. That woman definitely wasn’t a paramedic—she was unmistakably foreign.
Blonde hair, and eyes that were either blue or brown—she couldn’t even recall the exact shade. And since when did emergency responders quietly show up alone and start… groping bare chests like that?
Ah, stop thinking about it, please.
Yeon Woo pulled the blanket over her head. Yet even then, the lingering image of that woman entangled with Jun Hwi kept popping up to torment her.
When she pushed the suffocating blanket aside, his wounded, reproachful expression stared back at her instead.
Which side of him was his true self?
Was it typical for men like Kwon Jun Hwi—self-centered in everything—to casually hop from one woman to another as they pleased?
Yesterday, he was gently tending to Yeon Woo’s sprained ankle. Today, he was holding a blonde foreigner. Would he move on to yet another woman tomorrow?
Maybe it was actually a good thing she’d witnessed that scene yesterday. Otherwise, she might’ve mistaken his actions as genuine interest in her.
And maybe she might’ve even started… No, that was going too far. Fantasizing about the most arrogantly prickly man at Ro And Yul? That’d be disastrous. Yeon Woo shook her head firmly.
Perhaps losing that big promotion battle against him was part of some grand design—like a divine warning telling her to run away quickly.
But still…
That last time on the emergency stairs, the quiet tremor in Kwon Jun Hwi’s eyes as he stubbornly chased after her kept sticking in her mind.
“……What exactly do you want to tell me?”
Why would he feel the need to talk to Yeon Woo of all people? He’d always treated her like a lowly subordinate, coldly ignored her, then casually tossed her aside whenever he felt like it—why seek her out now?
And why—why did she suddenly feel so curious about what possible explanation he might offer?
Sigh. No matter how much she puzzled over it alone, there’d be no answer. Yeon Woo let out a deep sigh and forced her eyes shut.
“Senior, how are you feeling? Are you okay?”
Trending
“Yes, I’m fine. Just had a bit of a cold.”
It happened to be Friday—the day Yeon Woo took her sick leave.
After taking the weekend off as well and returning to work on Monday, Attorney Yang immediately greeted Yeon Woo warmly with concern.
“I was so startled—you’ve never taken sudden leave like that before!”
“I guess it’s just the changing season.”
“Yeah, exactly. The winter air is so dry—be careful not to catch a cold.”
Yeon Woo smiled and nodded gratefully for the concern—when suddenly, Kwon Jun Hwi strode up behind Attorney Yang. Yeon Woo quickly wiped the smile off her face and put on a strictly professional expression.
“Come in for a moment.”
He tossed that single line and walked into his office.
With so many eyes watching, she couldn’t very well refuse. After all, her resignation decision and that humiliating encounter with the blonde woman were still secrets known only to her. Yeon Woo hastily gathered her notepad and pen.
Right, she couldn’t avoid him forever. Besides, it was he who ought to feel awkward—being caught in such a compromising act!
“What do you need, Attorney?”
“How are you feeling now?”
His eyes remained fixed on the documents he was flipping through as he casually asked. Yeon Woo gave a vague reply that she was doing better.
“About that incident.”
Jun Hwi finally looked up at Yeon Woo—but stopped mid-sentence.
She had come when summoned, but not alone: Hye Jin stood beside her.
“……”
For just a split second, disappointment flickered across his face.
Even though Yeon Woo had steeled herself, she simply couldn’t bring herself to enter that room—the very place it had all happened. She absolutely didn’t want to be alone with him.
Every time she looked at Kwon Jun Hwi, all she could see was him with his shirt undone.
So she’d brought Hye Jin along, using mentorship training as the perfect excuse.
Jun Hwi stared at the two of them—notebooks and pens ready, waiting for instructions—then firmly pressed his lips into a tight line again.
“……We’ll talk later.”
As she bowed slightly and walked out, she could feel his sharp gaze on her back—but she didn’t look back.
For the next few days, she did her absolute best to avoid Kwon Jun Hwi. It was the only way she could erase that memory.
She either attended his briefings together with Hye Jin or insisted on communicating exclusively through email or text—never allowing even a single minute alone with him.
In the meantime, she also quietly browsed job portals during breaks. Though it being year-end meant few companies were hiring experienced professionals.
Sometimes she wondered if she should’ve just listened to what he’d wanted to say—but then she’d recall the sight of his defined, sculpted chest through his open shirt, overlaid with that woman’s hands, and she’d swallow the impulse down.
Thankfully, work had been busy lately, making it easier to divert her attention elsewhere.
Then, about a week later…
As she warmed her frozen hands near the space heater under her desk, her phone rang—it was Kwon Jun Hwi.
‘Why call my mobile instead of my desk line?’
But she couldn’t ignore a call from her boss, especially when he was out at a client meeting. Hoping he’d hang up quickly, she reluctantly answered.
“Yes, Attorney?”
Go to my office now.
“Huh? Ah—yes.”
She assumed he must’ve forgotten some important document. Yeon Woo walked the mere ten steps to his office and stepped inside.
“I’m in.”
Sit in my chair.
“I’m seated.”
Under the monitor. Tell me what you see.
What an odd request. Yeon Woo glanced around indifferently. Under the monitor… Sticky notes. A fountain pen. And…
“……”
Did you see it? Answer.
There was a photo frame—the one she’d always assumed was his family photo.
In the photo, he stood on the far right. His hair was slightly shorter than now, and his overall look less sharp, but even back then his eyes already held that fierce edge.
The woman in the center was clearly his mother—so strikingly similar to a middle-aged version of Kwon Jun Hwi that anyone could tell.
Yet her gentle smile lent her a softer aura, and her stylish bob and elegant coat exuded refinement.
On the far left stood the figure in question:

a foreign woman with blonde hair and bright hazel eyes, smiling warmly.
The very same woman Yeon Woo had encountered in the office that evening.
‘What’s going on?’
Why was that woman in his family photo?
Ms. Kim Yeon Woo.
“Ah… Yes. I saw it. But, um…”
Are you ready to hear me out now?
Was that woman… family? With Kwon Jun Hwi?
Come to the rooftop.
“……”
Stop running away from me.
Unusually calm winds and warm sunshine filled the day.
Pushing open the metal door onto the rooftop, the crisp winter air and scent of dry branches instantly filled the wide-open space.
She couldn’t tell if the chattering of her teeth came from nerves or cold. Yeon Woo took a deep breath of the biting air, determined to overcome both.
Jun Hwi stood farther inside, away from the rooftop entrance. Yeon Woo slowly walked toward his back, leaning against a structure of suitable height, clenching her fists as tightly as she’d bitten her lower lip.
“Put this on.”
The moment he saw her, Jun Hwi offered his coat—but before she could even take it, he gently draped it over her shoulders himself. Then he pressed a warm canned coffee into her hands.
“What’s all this sudden.”
“It’s going to be a long story.”
He added, “So you can’t just run off claiming it’s too cold.” He guided Yeon Woo to sit where he’d just been leaning and stood firmly in front of her.
“When did I ever run away that badly?”
“Precautions never hurt.”
“What do you want to talk about?”
“Hmm. Something that’ll make Kim Yeon Woo want to run away as soon as she hears it.”
He frowned slightly and gave a faint smile as he stared at her. It felt completely unlike him—calling someone over yet circling around the main point without saying it outright.
“So… is that woman your family?”
Yeon Woo finally spoke first. Jun Hwi nodded.
“My younger sister. My biological sister.”
“What? But how—um, I mean…”
“Because of how she looks? We have different fathers.”
“……”
“Our mother remarried—a Frenchman.”
Male lead is a Divorced Husband
She said to him: “Tell me, what makes you like me? I’ll change it!”

Liu Changning transmigrated into a female cannon fodder character in a female-dominant novel.
After reading the first half of the novel’s plot, the first thing she did upon transmigration was to divorce the Pan Jinlian-style male protagonist she had just married.
She indulged herself, pretending to be ugly and poor.
But as time passed, the way that man looked at her became more and more unusual…
Liu Changning was dumbfounded: Tell me, what makes you like me? I’ll change!
――
This lifetime, Pei Yuanshao was rejected by the same woman twice!
The first time, she drove him away. Forced by the situation, he endured the waves of anger in his heart, yielding and humbling himself.
That person lay slanted on a rocking chair, her sallow face emotionless: “If you don’t want a divorce, go cook!”
Pei Yuanshao’s face was dark and gloomy: “You!”
The second time, after the crisis in Jinling City was resolved, the new emperor sent someone to pick him up. He turned around, stammering: “I… I have to go. If you keep me…”
That person lay on the kang bed, her back to him, as if she had long anticipated this day, crisp and clear: “Goodbye!”
Pei Yuanshao was so angry his fingers trembled: “You… you!”
The mission of family and country made him restrain himself, averting his eyes and turning to leave this broken household.
Two years later, they met again. Seeing her ethereal face, his body shook like a sieve.
“She was originally a ‘she’!”
At the Qionglin Banquet, the top scholar of the imperial examination, a talented person with exceptional speech and conduct, all the unmarried young gentlemen from aristocratic families looked at her with shy and timid eyes.
The peerless imperial official Pei Yuanshao felt the anger in his heart erupt. He pointed at the woman surrounded by the crowd at the Qionglin Banquet, his thin lips slightly curled: “Little sister, I wants that person to be the wife-master of my Mingde Prince Manor.”
