For two days, she agonized between whether it should be Kwon Jun Hwi or the last resort, even losing sleep.
But she decided to avoid the last option as much as possible. After much thought, she decided to first apply for a transfer.
On the third day, as soon as Yeon Woo arrived at work, she opened the messenger and requested a chat with Assistant Manager Park from the HR team.
[I’d like to apply for a job transfer. I’m fine with not being a secretary, even a regular staff member is okay] Her heart was pounding! During the brief moment when Assistant Manager Park was typing and deleting over and over, Yeon Woo was nervously biting her lower lip. Please, say okay, please······!
[In this atmosphere, which team leader would want to take you in?] “······.”[There’s nobody who would welcome a subordinate who excessively contradicts their superior’s opinion] Ah. The job transfer failed too. The tension she had been holding was released all at once.
But he was right. She almost found herself nodding along.
In the end, the worstcase scenario she had been fearing for months had come. There was only one option left.
Resign! Kim Yeon Woo.
Leave Kwon Jun Hwi behind and start anew.

They say that all the ailments of office workers can be cured by leaving work or resigning, and it was indeed true.
From the moment she decided to resign, far from worrying, her mind couldn’t have been more light and refreshed. Her condition was at its best, to the point where the Somaek she had ruined in her anger last night didn’t affect her at all.
So when Jun Hwi’s call was relayed to her by a new employee as soon as she arrived at work, she just chuckled.
“Assistant Manager. Lawyer Kwon asked to see you when you come in.”
“Could you ask Lawyer Kwon if there’s something Hyun Jin needs to do for him?”
“Me…? Oh… Me?”
Of course, she knew. The one he specifically asked for was Kim Yeon Woo, but if someone else went instead, his proud face wouldn’t be satisfied.
But now she didn’t need to be careful. It was all over anyway.
‘Get a grip, Kim Yeon Woo. Do you still have feelings for this organization?’
She would rebel just enough, say everything she needed to say, and then one day, she would suddenly disappear.
And then she would have to find another company that would accept her! Job change, something everyone does, there was nothing she couldn’t do.
“I’m sorry. I have something urgent to do. Could you do me a favor?”
Although she felt sorry for Hyun Jin, it was a time to be coldhearted. They were people she wouldn’t see for much longer anyway.
With her mind and head cleared, time passed quickly.
As soon as the news announced the upcoming college entrance exams, the temperature dropped dramatically.

It was cold enough to see your breath, but the sun was warm enough to still move around. After lunch, Yeon Woo and Hyun Jin took a big walk around the company, each holding a hot cup of coffee.
They were chatting about whether they had used up all their vacations, what they were going to do for Christmas, and how the year was already coming to an end, the typical conversation of office workers, on their way back to the office. Kwon Jun Hwi came into their view.
“It’s Attorney Kwon. He must be coming in from outside.”
“Uhhuh, seems so.”
Yeon Woo responded nonchalantly, but her eyes stayed on him for quite a while.
His tall height and robust figure were a perfect match for his sleek suit, along with a stylish navy coat.
Her lawyer, whom she had not seen for a while, still looked fabulous, and was undeniably superior.
There had been no special events or contact with Jun Hwi since that incident.
More than anything, he was so busy dealing with the enormous amount of work that was piling up towards the end of the year that they only exchanged necessary conversations strictly related to work.
She should have acted this way from the beginning. The resolve to try hard on anything had disappeared, and in its place was a feeling of relief.
However, occasionally, very occasionally, she felt a senseless regret towards him.
It was when he looked at Yeon Woo as if he had something to say.

Then, she could overcome it by typing on her keyboard or making a phone call and avoiding his gaze, but sometimes she felt a twinge of regret that lasted for about 0.5 seconds.
This time, it was Yeon Woo who was observing him. Kwon Jun Hwi, who was getting out of the back seat of the car, did not enter the building straight away. He held the open car door and exchanged a few words with someone inside, lifting the corner of his mouth.
He smiled, indeed.
“…”
Who could be the one with whom even parting seemed poignant?
Without realizing it, Yeon Woo craned her neck to see his companion. She couldn’t see clearly because of the dark tinting of the car. It seemed to be a woman by the silhouette.
In the meantime, he had sent off the car and entered the Lo & Yul building.
His morning schedule today was… a personal schedule. She remembered it clearly. It was the first time since she had started working with him.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
Here’s the story synopsis:
