What’s the big deal with this little thing? If he wanted to, he could finish it in one bite.
Slowly, he wanted to keep looking at it, rolling it with his tongue, and savoring it little by little.
For the next few days, the mundane life of Roan Yul continued. It was still busy, intense, a series of tasks changing rapidly from morning to lunch to dinner.
That’s how the day of the dinner party quickly approached.
[It’s xx Cheongdamdong, Gangnamgu, Seoul.] Jun Hwi checked the salon address sent by Yeon Woo again and parked his car precisely in front of it.Leaning slightly against his car, he looked at the building entrance from which he was to pick up Yeon Woo.
“A 3 million won dress.”
Unable to refuse a task assigned by his superior, the party was burdensome.
It was a peculiar demand, uncharacteristic of Kim Yeon Woo, a concept she had devised with her tiny brain, all to somehow get Jun Hwi to reject her.
Thinking about it again made him smirk.
Jun Hwi slowly shook his head, pulling out a cigarette and putting it to his lips.

After seeing her new side, secretly crying on the rooftop and then getting caught, he wondered what interesting situation would arise next.
Even Jun Hwi, who was unimpressed by most things, felt an indeterminable interest in how far this would go.
Twisting his wrist to check the agreed time, he picked up his cell phone. Just as he was about to text that he had arrived, the building entrance door opened.
Yeon Woo stood on the steps, wearing a burgundy halter neck dress that revealed her shoulders.
The ornate bead embroidery running from her chest to her neck shimmered subtly in the yellowing sunlight of a late autumn afternoon.
The long hem of the dress, daringly slit to the side, revealed a dizzying sight every time Yeon Woo stretched her legs.
As Yeon Woo, who noticed Jun Hwi, flicked her head, the deeply hollowed part of her protruding collarbones gracefully moved.
The intense red of the dress, contrasting with her pale skin, kept drawing Jun Hwi’s gaze.
“…”
He seemed to have forgotten how to breathe.
Jun Hwi simply watched her as she carefully clutched the fur shawl on her shoulders and descended the stairs.

“Hello, counselor. Have you been waiting long?”
“…”
Despite the greeting from Yeon Woo, who brushed her voluminously waved hair behind her ears and smiled brightly, he merely blinked slowly without a word.
“Counselor?”
Click clack. As Yeon Woo, who was getting closer to Jun Hwi with the clear sound of her high heels, tilted her head slightly under his chin, her bold drop earrings hung from her earlobes rang arrogantly.
His gaze followed the elegant line running from her ear, down her jaw, and to her neck.
Jun Hwi barely regained his senses as he removed the cigarette from his mouth at the sight of her call and her eyes fluttering around him.
“Hmm… I really didn’t think you’d come to pick me up. Thank you.”
“Ah.”
Jun Hwi furrowed his eyebrows slightly, exhaling a sighlike response and touching his forehead for a moment.
Had something happened to his mind, to one side of his head?
He kept feeling the urge to run his thumb under Yeon Woo’s plump eyes. He also wanted to trace along the line of her smooth, curving lips.
Without any conversation, Jun Hwi’s deep black eyes seemed to pierce Yeon Woo. In the awkward atmosphere, Yeon Woo, who was facing him, habitually bit her lower lip.
As his gaze landed on her unusually thick and shiny lips, Jun Hwi’s breath rushed back into his lungs.
“Shall we get in the car?”
Seeing Yeon Woo reaching out for the passenger seat door, Jun Hwi finally moved to open the door for her.

He carefully closed the door after ensuring that the hem of Yeon Woo’s long dress was entirely inside the car.
He couldn’t recall the process of getting into the driver’s seat and starting the car. Jun Hwi’s head, emptied to a blank white, was filled with only a creaking noise.
The inside of the sealed car was full of a sweet scent. The sweetness he had felt upon seeing her must not have been an illusion.
His suddenly distant mind was confused.
Looking at the road ahead, Jun Hwi instinctively tried to loosen his suffocating tie, only to realize it was a bow tie as his hand touched emptiness. He withdrew his hand.
The car smoothly cutting through the downtown on a late autumn weekend afternoon paused momentarily waiting for the signal.
Tap tap, Jun Hwi lightly tapped the steering wheel, then reached back to the backseat to take his suit jacket and offered it to Yeon Woo.
“Cover yourself.”
Thanks to the fur shawl Yeon Woo had neatly placed on her knees, her graceful shoulders were exposed. It kept scratching at Jun Hwi.
“No, I’m fine.”
“Cover up. Don’t make the people watching you feel cold too.”
Please. The two syllables he unconsciously wanted to follow were forcibly swallowed.
Yeon Woo, shivering, draped the jacket she received over her shoulders.

Whew. Jun Hwi, who let out a light sigh, ran his hand through his neatly brushed hair.
“Do you feel very awkward? I’ve never dressed up this much either.”
Yeon Woo, who was fiddling with the hem of the suit she was wearing, revealed an embarrassed look when she saw his tense forehead.
What should he answer? Dozens, hundreds of expressions boiled in Jun Hwi’s mind in passing.
Well, if he had to answer honestly… His hand seemed to move before his words.
He had a strange urge to gently touch her pale, thin neck with his fingertips.
“It’s not bad.”
Jun Hwi, who forcibly spouted whatever he could muster, regretted it shortly after. Should he have complimented her, sincerely saying she looked good?
Despite his ambiguous and insincere answer, she softly said it was a relief and shyly nodded.
The light turned green. Jun Hwi, feeling an inexplicable thirst, moved his gaze from Yeon Woo and restarted the car.
Male lead fell into her trap — and shattered when she walked away
This is also on my reread list!
This one is a slow burn, but when it burns, it burns hard.
Definitely worth a read, y’all!
The story follows a thousand-year-old seductive spirit who, on a bet, sets out to charm the male lead—a once-promising but unfortunate cultivator.
But just when she succeeds in making him fall for her, she heartlessly leaves, driving him to madness.
Determined to find her at all costs, he captures her, keeping her by his side no matter what, even if she hates him.
I love this kind of trope—I enjoy watching the male lead suffer in agony.
The ending drags a bit with unnecessary filler, but that’s fine.
As long as I enjoy the beginning, I’m good.
