“Report me? For what? I didn’t invite you here.”
Yeon Woo frantically searched for her phone in her handbag, gripping it tightly as Park Hyun Soo watched with a sly smile.
“Your voluntary entrance was probably caught on the hallway CCTV. So what will you report me for?”
It was true. To the outside world, it looked like she had willingly walked into this situation.
No one would believe her. They might even label her as a law firm secretary who plotted to seduce a wealthy heir.
Holding her phone, she hesitated to call for help due to these thoughts. Instead, she desperately ran towards the exit.
“Keep provoking me like that, and it’ll be trouble.”
But Park Hyun Soo was faster. He blocked her way to the door, just as he had before, with nonsensical chatter.
“Why are you doing this to me!”
“Why indeed? Why would I do such a thing? Who asked to be treated like this? Made to feel desirable.”
It was impossible to reason with him. Yeon Woo’s hands trembled as she held her phone.
“Getting bold because I’ve been lenient. So fearless.”
As Yeon Woo reached for her phone a second time, Park Hyun Soo decided not to let her off the hook this time.
“Don’t! Don’t touch me!”
Just as he reached out to snatch the phone from her hand, it rang.
[Kwon Jun Hwi – Attorney]The screen lit up with a long vibration.
Seizing the unexpected opportunity, Yeon Woo quickly pressed the call button and shouted.
“Attorney Kwon! Help me! I’m at the F Hotel—”
But a ruthless hand snatched the phone from her and ended the call.
“Damn it!”
Park Hyun Soo cursed, a step too late.
“Don’t look at me like that!”
He glared at Yeon Woo with a menacing rage.
“What makes you think you’re so great to treat me like this!”
Park Hyun Soo harshly lifted her chin with the phone in his hand.
But now, Yeon Woo met his burning gaze without backing down.
Strangely, seeing Kwon Jun Hwi’s name gave her a sense of having a strong ally.
“You think you’re something special, but you’re just a mad criminal!”
“Shut up!”
Park Hyun Soo’s tantrum was reaching its limit.
“Do you really want to be a victim of a real crime? Think I can’t do it?”
His twisted face was inching closer to hers.
“Can you really do it? You just heard me asking for help!”
Yeon Woo turned the tables, pointing out her advantage.
“This is really getting on my nerves!”
Unable to control his rage, Park Hyun Soo forgot to block the door.
Seizing the moment he ran his hand through his hair, Yeon Woo snatched her phone back and ran with all her might.
“Hey! Yeon Woo!”
She managed to open the door and escape, with his voice yelling after her.
“If you leave like this, you’ll pay a huge price!”
Ignoring his furious shouts, Yeon Woo ran out of the hotel like a madwoman.
“Attorney Kwon! Help me! I’m at the F Hotel—”
That desperate call for help was the last she made before going silent.
Kwon Jun Hwi, freshly arrived from Jeju Island, gazed at the F Hotel entrance, wondering how to find Yeon Woo inside.
He had just landed at Gimpo Airport and rushed to the hotel after learning she was still there. But now, without her answering her phone, he wondered how to locate her.
Whatever the situation, she clearly needed help. He was determined to find her.
As he was about to dash into the hotel, a large standee at the entrance caught his eye.
[Korean Pharmaceutical Association Regular Forum – The Future of the Pharmaceutical Industry and Global Expansion]And right below it, the name Park Hyun Soo.
Could it be? Is his plea for help related to that guy?
As Kwon Jun Hwi confirmed the man’s name, his blood seemed to boil in reverse. His jaws clenched tightly, muscles taut with tension. He was ready to move quickly.
But then, something in the corner of his eye near the standee caught his attention.
A familiar figure hunched in a corner behind the standee drew his gaze.
“Heuk…”
Yeon Woo barely managed to escape, but as soon as she was out of the hotel, her legs gave out. She collapsed right there.
She had done well, endured bravely. But why did everything still feel so terrifying, so heartbreaking?
Tears burst forth as she sat there, not caring about the passing glances of strangers. Her tears flowed uncontrollably.
What should she do now?
She tried to reassure herself that Kwon Jun Hwi, her most reliable person in the world, was there for her. But recalling Park Hyun Soo’s warning, the future seemed bleak.
‘The attorney built everything up, but the secretary is going to ruin it all.’
She remembered the mocking tone of President Kim Ju Hwan.
Was she becoming a burden to him again?
She had tried so hard to solve everything on her own to avoid causing him trouble, only to end up in this futile and painful situation.
‘Why can’t I do better than this…’
When Cha Han Bin took the USB, she struggled alone and almost escalated the problem, leading to Kwon Jun Hwi nearly getting into a fight.
Even when Park Hyun Soo crossed the line, she thought she had handled it well, but look at the outcome.
Would things have been better if she had shared her worries with him sooner?
But she felt guilty about bothering him with her troubles, and their constant arguing over the Jeju trip hadn’t left room for proper conversation. Another part of her argued in defense.
Yet, her guilt and self-loathing remained unchanged.
What would President Kim Ju Hwan do next? And did he know about her and Kwon Jun Hwi? Would he harm Kwon Jun Hwi’s career?
An employee could be fired, resign, and it would be the end.
But if a scandal with his secretary taints Kwon Jun Hwi’s impeccable and robust career…
The thought was terrifying. Yeon Woo closed her eyes tightly.
Her phone vibrated again in her hand. It was his call. But she couldn’t bring herself to answer.
With a deep sigh, Yeon Woo pressed the call decline button.
Male lead fell into her trap — and shattered when she walked away
This is also on my reread list!
This one is a slow burn, but when it burns, it burns hard.
Definitely worth a read, y’all!
The story follows a thousand-year-old seductive spirit who, on a bet, sets out to charm the male lead—a once-promising but unfortunate cultivator.
But just when she succeeds in making him fall for her, she heartlessly leaves, driving him to madness.
Determined to find her at all costs, he captures her, keeping her by his side no matter what, even if she hates him.
I love this kind of trope—I enjoy watching the male lead suffer in agony.
The ending drags a bit with unnecessary filler, but that’s fine.
As long as I enjoy the beginning, I’m good.
