Tame or Be Captured (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 007
“Is that… Are you perhaps talking about that ‘special dish’?”
“Yeah. We need to properly replenish her nutrition to commemorate her coming to our nest.”
“Understood.”
The Head Chef grinned mischievously and began cooking something with enthusiasm.
Asha looked at him curiously, but soon her eyes widened at the food that came out.
What was placed on the table was none other than ‘wolf spider fry’.
At the horrifying sight of a palm-sized giant spider fried whole, Asha’s face turned pale, and she covered her mouth with her hand.
Jackal asked slyly.
“You said you were hungry. Why? Wild boar is fine, but spider isn’t?”
“But this… You’re really going to eat it?”
“Of course. It’s a protein-rich food. It’s also used as medicine, but the outside is crispy, the inside is chewy, and it’s perfect as a drinking snack.”
At those words, one of the members raised a beer and agreed.
“Miss, that’s expensive stuff! Eat a lot!”
As Asha started to dry-heave, Jackal said mischievously.
“Oh dear… She’s a picky eater. Her taste buds have been completely spoiled by those wicked palace foods. If she doesn’t get used to commoner food quickly, she’ll have a hard time surviving.”
As he said, in the northern region where food was hard to come by, wolf spiders were an excellent source of nutrition.
Jackal casually tore off a spider leg, put it in his mouth, and chewed crunchily.
When Asha stared as if she had seen something she shouldn’t, he asked indifferently.
“Why. Is it gross? Should I debone it for you?”
He dangled the wolf spider with two fingers and carefully examined if there was any meat to pick.
At that sight, Asha said with a face as if she had lost her appetite.
“…No. It’s fine. I’ll eat it on my own.”
Asha, suddenly feeling stubborn, glared at the spider.
Thanks to being fried whole, its vivid black eyes were staring at her threateningly.
Jackal glanced at her having a staring contest with the dead spider, then chuckled lowly as if clicking his tongue.
Unexpectedly, he thought she was a woman who was quite fun to tease.
Asha turned her head and reached out as far as possible to tear off one leg.
The creepy sensation of the leg being torn from the body made her shudder involuntarily, but she soon closed her eyes tightly and put the leg in her mouth.
Before she could properly feel the chewy texture, Asha quickly swallowed it and rinsed her mouth with alcohol.
Jackal immediately scolded her.
“How can you swallow a delicacy without even tasting it? What a waste.”
Asha rinsed her mouth with alcohol and said confidently.
“But I ate it, so that’s enough, right?”
“I didn’t say you had to force yourself to eat it.”
Asha glared at him sideways, but Jackal found her serious attitude, as if taking a test, amusing and quietly laughed again.
It was the first time she saw him laugh so naturally, so Asha also relaxed her expression.
Even though he seemed blunt and cold, he could laugh like that when with his comrades.
But then, Sosa, who had gone outside, approached him with a serious face and whispered in his ear.
“Um, Boss. Can we talk outside for a moment….”
It seemed like important talk, so Jackal stood up abruptly from his seat.
Asha continued chewing her food while watching them.
She felt she needed to replenish her strength in advance if she was going to have an important conversation with him later.
As soon as they left the noisy hideout, the silent aura of the winter mountain immediately enveloped the two.
He turned to Sosa and asked.
“What is it.”
“Well, the patrol team reported that there were traces of someone caught in the trap we set at the village boundary.”
“A person.”
“Probably. If it were an animal, they wouldn’t have cleverly reset the trap and escaped. It seems one of the bandits we met today was spying on Lycaon.”
Jackal muttered.
“Annoying flies have followed us. Maybe I should have dealt with them then….”
Trending
“They probably discovered the trap, so there’s a high chance they’ve figured out we’re staying nearby.”
Jackal’s expression turned serious.
If they found out Asha was here, they would rampage without regard for anything.
He didn’t care if they became targets, but she was in danger.
Jackal went with Sosa to the boundary and carefully checked the traces himself.
He even sniffed the leaves to confirm the stranger’s scent and then said seriously.
“We need to strengthen the guards and pay more attention to scouting. Tell the subordinates to pack important luggage in advance so we can leave at any time.”
Sosa answered seriously.
“Yes, Boss.”
While they were outside, Asha had a friendly conversation with Yuris.
Perhaps because they were among the few women here, the two quickly became close after exchanging a few words.
Yuris, who was plump, pointed at someone with a slightly shy face and said.
“That man over there is my husband.”
When Asha looked, a relatively skinny man compared to the other members raised one hand wearing brown leather gloves and grinned.
Yuris also smiled and whispered in Asha’s ear so only she could hear.
“I’m the one supporting him.”
When Asha covered her mouth and laughed, she added.
“He may look skinny on the outside, but he’s actually a real man. All the Lycaons here are beasts… no, very aggressive. When they like a woman, their courtship is no joke.”
Yuris said she had coldly rejected his courtship twice because he wasn’t her type, but she decided to marry him after seeing his courage and sincerity in jumping into fire for her.
When he blew a kiss, puck, with his gloved hand, Yuris caught the flying hand kiss with her mouth and swallowed it, suck.
Then she slyly blew a hand kiss back, puck.
At the two’s unstoppable display of affection, the surrounding Lycaons shuddered but laughed and shook their heads.
Listening to the two’s cheerful love story, Asha suddenly wondered if Jackal would become aggressive if he had a woman he liked.
But she soon shook her head.
He seemed too cold and blunt to do that.
But then, a sneering voice came from somewhere.
“…Just because she’s pitiful, bringing in a woman from outside whose identity we don’t even know. Lycaon is going down the drain.”
In the noisy space, that voice rang out particularly clearly in her ears.
Suddenly, the hideout became quiet as if cold water had been poured.
Asha knew the words were meant for her to hear and stared blankly in the direction of the sound.
In the corner of the hideout, a man with dark reddish-brown hair was looking at her crookedly with a sneering face.
“Hey, princess who doesn’t know the ways of the world. Come here for a second. Let me see how much of a flower garden is in that head of yours.”
“Geb! What kind of rude behavior is that to the Boss’s mate!”
“Mate? Mate?”
He said with a genuinely dumbfounded face.
“Has the Boss ever officially declared that woman as his mate? Or has he ever agreed even once to your excitement?”
The members couldn’t answer those words.
Indeed, Jackal had been taking an ambiguous attitude about whether he intended to take her as a mate or not.
When Asha stood up from her seat, Yuris, who was next to her, grabbed her wrist.
When she turned around, she shook her head with a serious face. It meant don’t engage.
A woman without a designated mate could become a target for other Lycaons at any time.
Recalling two members who once fought like dogs over a woman, Yuris was genuinely worried.
That day, the two members almost got kicked out of Lycaon for causing trouble, but it ended with both giving up the woman after crying and begging Jackal for forgiveness with torn and swollen faces.
There was a rule that anyone who touched someone else’s mate would have their wrist crushed, so they could become more sensitive and violent than anyone about women issues.
And that’s why bringing a woman into the organization was also done cautiously.
“I’m fine. Nothing will happen.”
Asha said gently and walked in front of him, and Geb said arrogantly, looking up with wolf-like yellow eyes.
“So you want to join our Lycaon that badly, princess?”
“Yes.”
“Then take the easy way, why are you trying to take the hard way?”

“I don’t understand what you mean.”
Geb stood up abruptly from his seat.
And with hawk-like bulging eyes, he pointed at her face and said threateningly.
“If you want to seduce the Boss, do it properly. Don’t talk nonsense about becoming a hunter, just hunt men well.”
At those words, Asha’s eyes also sank.
“That crazy bastard…! What if the Boss finds out, why is he acting like that?”
“Drink less!”
The members jumped up beside them, but Geb didn’t even pretend to listen.
He must have overheard her saying to Jackal earlier that she would become a hunter and felt offended.
Although not as much as Jackal, he was also tall and well-built.
A dangerous feeling emanated from his arrogant expression, but Asha did not back down and confronted him.
“Why is saying I’ll become a hunter nonsense? I was serious.”
Not only the momentum, but the members were also startled by those words. Geb openly snorted and said.
“Do you know why we don’t let female hunters in? Because the whole organization could collapse in one go because of that one woman.”
He continued, staring at Asha with bulging eyes.
“Understand? Lycaon doesn’t need weak female hunters or anything. This isn’t a charity organization that feeds and houses you for free. Do we, strangers, have to risk our lives to protect you, huh?”
“Geb, stop it.”
The members came over and tried to stop him, but Geb had no intention of backing down and roughly shook off their arms.
“Ah, let go, come on!”
Asha looked at him blankly and then said calmly.
“It’s a story that makes perfect sense. You have every reason to be dissatisfied with me.”
“Yeah? Then we can communicate now. Don’t ever say you’ll become a hunter again, just seduce the Boss hard. I won’t say anything about that.”
As if the talk was over, he blew on the bottle.
The members cursed him with fierce faces.
“That, that, scoundrel…!”
“Is that something to say to a woman? No wonder he’s called a scoundrel his whole life!”
The members clicked their tongues, but Asha stood silently and observed him.
On the nape of his neck with a cloak, there was an eagle badge. It was a mark meaning ‘patrol team’ in Lycaon.
Since he was always the one patrolling ahead to prevent the organization from being in danger, it made sense that he felt her presence as a threat.
And since Jackal had maintained the same position from the beginning, Asha didn’t particularly feel bad.
Geb tilted the bottle and asked crookedly when he saw Asha still standing there.
“Still have something to say, princess?”
Asha silently faced him and sat at the table.
When Geb slightly frowned as if asking what she was doing, Asha turned to the Head Chef and said.
“Mr. Wid, can I have a bottle of alcohol too? The same as this person.”
“Hoo, you want to go a round with me?”
Geb wiped his mouth with his glove as if it wasn’t funny and looked up with arrogant eyes.
Asha smiled casually and said.
“I think I’ll be joining the same patrol team in the future, so I’m trying to get close this time.”
Geb’s relaxed expression instantly hardened as if he had been hit hard.

No way…did Karaf set up this situation with the assassin or kidnapping attempt to earn points?
Not practically, it is a form of torture. Jackel didn’t jump into the water on his own while tied to the boulder.
It seems backward that the Empress is invited to a Duchess’ tea party.
