“Leaving the ducal household? What on earth are you talking about?”

Kirian pulled me closer. The pleasant scent of his body made me unconsciously sniff, but even that stopped abruptly at his next words.

“I shouldn’t have registered you into the family register in the first place. It’s me who should be struck from the household records.”

“What?”

“You’d be able to live without worrying about ducal duties or being disturbed.”

I couldn’t hold back anymore and pushed Kirian away.

“What are you even saying?”

Having grown up in Korea, I found those words utterly unacceptable.

“So you’re telling me to abandon all my duties and responsibilities as a member of the ducal family just so you can live comfortably alone? Do you really want our parents—who’ve worked tirelessly their whole lives for us—to keep toiling until their old age?”

I crossed my arms.

“I absolutely won’t tolerate such filial ingratitude.”

Kirian sighed and rubbed his temples.

“Father is still perfectly healthy. He’s even stronger and healthier than you are, so don’t worry.”

“You really are something. Father’s been suffering from aches all over lately, and you, his own son, don’t even notice?”

Kirian covered his face with one hand.
