Countess Lamira received the bracelet with a triumphant smile.

“Of course, I must give it to you. You know it’s all out of concern from the princess, right? If you wear such dazzling jewelry at the engagement party, you will surely attract envious glares.”

I, who had arrived in plain and almost drab attire except for the bracelet, seemed only to catch the Countess’s eye with the bracelet. She truly was a countess without any progress.

“I must keep the princess’s bracelet safe, so please excuse me for a moment.”

With a sarcastic remark, Countess Lamira vanished nonchalantly, holding the bracelet aloft as if it were a trophy.

As soon as Countess Lamira disappeared, her friends quickly continued their petty attacks.

“Oh dear, Princess Reina. Your dress is quite simple today.”

I nodded casually.

“Yes. As Countess Lamira said, it’s a formal engagement party, so I must dress simply.”

Returning their attacks, they simply coughed and fluttered their fans.

In fact, it was a great progress for them to call me ‘princess.’ In the past, they would have called me ‘Reina Yang,’ as if I were still a commoner, or simply ‘Reina’ on a particularly spiteful day.

They only changed their address after it became clear that the Duke and Duchess genuinely cared for me.

Then, Lady Lamira, the Count’s wife, appeared.

“Thank you for coming to celebrate our daughter’s engagement.”

It was customary for the countess to greet guests, but she seemed to have taken over as her daughter was taking too long in the lounge.

I smiled broadly.

“Of course. Countess Lamira and I have a special relationship. But why is the countess taking so long?”

The Count’s wife’s face momentarily crumpled.

“She probably has a lot to prepare.”

The Count’s wife held her head high.

“Do you have no good news, Princess? It’s been a while since the rumors that you were talking to the Ksia royal family…”

Lady Lamira had touched on a rather sensitive topic. I didn’t have the energy to respond, so I just let it pass through one ear.

I needed to hurry the engagement, whether I was the original or not, I wanted to be independent as soon as possible because this aristocratic society was getting on my nerves.

When Countess Lamira entered the lounge and confirmed that no one was around, she muttered.

“Where does that commoner woman get things like this every time?”

Enchanted, the countess examined the bracelet from all angles. Each time it caught the chandelier light, the diamonds embedded in the bracelet shone brilliantly.

The silver frame was intricately woven like strands of thread, and the entire piece sparkled, captivating the eye from every angle.

“This wouldn’t suit a commoner.”

Countess Lamira stood in front of the mirror, grinding her teeth.

She had once dreamed of becoming a crown princess or duchess, but had been hastily married off like merchandise to a Viscount, in a wedding dress she had struggled to afford for her engagement.

But all of that became meaningless when that commoner woman appeared.

Reina’s dress today was more modest than usual, but it only emphasized the bracelet, creating an elegant atmosphere without being excessive.

“I can’t let that happen.”

After staring at the bracelet for a while, Countess Lamira tried it on. Though a bit tight on her wrist, it sparkled mysteriously as she waved her hand.

“It suits me better.”

With the addition of the bracelet, she whispered, looking at her now garish reflection in the mirror.

However, no matter how lowborn, as long as the Duke and Duchess were protecting her, she couldn’t appear at the engagement party wearing the bracelet.

Countess Lamira sighed briefly and began to remove the bracelet.

Then a sweet, melodious voice filled the lounge.

“It really suits you well.”

Kirian was a prince.

“Oh, how so.”

Countess Lamira was startled and quickly hid her hand behind her back, Kirian slightly tilted his head.

“Why are you hiding it?”

Kirian’s crimson lips drew a captivating curve.

“It suits you so well, doesn’t it?”

“Me, really?”

Countess Lamira pulled her arm out from behind her back again, fumblingly putting on the bracelet.

Suddenly, her cheeks were tinged with a blush.

It was her first time speaking with Prince Kirian. She had always admired him from afar, never daring to approach, and never imagined that he would speak to her first.

“Yes. It suits you really well.”

Countess Lamira was lost in the sight of Kirian’s fleeting smile.

Hair like fine threads woven by moonlight, eyes redder than fresh blood, a straight forehead, and beneath that, a long nose bridge, and mischievously placed crimson lips.

All of this combined to form a countenance as if sculpted directly by the gods.

Adding to that, the sunken eyes showing nothing but an appropriate boredom, and a sensitive atmosphere that one couldn’t carelessly approach, only added to Prince Kirian’s mystique.

Like her, the hall was filled to overflowing with maidens who admired Kirian from afar.

My Step-brother Is Obsessed With Me (Female-dominant)

A gentle female protagonist vs pitiful in the early stage, and a sick male protagonist in the later stage

Cheng Songer transmigrated into the body of a vicious cannon fodder female supporting character with the same name as her in a female-dominant novel.

In the original story, the cannon fodder female supporting character was inhumane, committing domestic violence, gambling excessively, being lustful, and even wanting to sell her stepbrother to a brothel for money.

As luck would have it, she just happened to transmigrate at this time.

Seeing Cheng Qingzhi biting his lip, enduring the tears in his eyes, looking pitiful, her heart softened.

She stuffed the money back into the Madam’s hand and reached out to him.

“Brother, come home with me.”
