“Oh my. Get a hold of yourself. Master Kongja expressly said not to talk about oneself to the young lady.”
“…Is it Kirian?”
I bit my lip. Even without that day, Kirian hasn’t appeared in front of me.
“Oh my, I must have said something unnecessary. Please pretend you didn’t hear. My mouth is uncontrollable, truly uncontrollable.”
But when my expression didn’t lighten, Eliza glanced at me slyly and added.
“Master Kirian is probably trying to be considerate, making sure the young lady can recover comfortably, especially since you were so severely injured.”
“Mm-hmm.”
I forced a smile. Although I wanted to see everyone from the Duke’s residence over the past two years, the person I missed the most was…
I sighed briefly.
“I probably need to rest a bit.”
Eliza, surprised at my one-word response, started looking around at me.
“Are you very tired? Is there anywhere that hurts?”
“No…”
I shook my head.
“Maybe because of walking, my thighs are a bit sore. I should go to bed early.”
“Oh, come on, lie down.”
Although Eliza fussed a lot, I couldn’t bring myself to say anything. My chest felt heavier than if my thighs were dragging on the ground.
The evening temperature was cool, but sweat was abundant on the back of Number 5.
“Why are you looking at me like that?”
Number 5 asked, swallowing nervously, but Kirian’s response was unkind as he returned.
“Just.”
While saying that, Kirian did not avert his sharp gaze.
“Have you always been this ugly?”
At the sudden question, Number 5 could only swallow again.
“Hahaha. Is it uncomfortable because of my face?”
Hurriedly, Number 5 took a step backward towards the door. Unexpectedly, Kirian was the one who appeared in Number 5’s room, but for some reason, it seemed necessary.
“I-I’ll leave right away.”
“Fine.”
Cleverly blocking the way with his body, Kirian nodded slightly.
“You’re always so ugly.”
“Hahaha, hahaha.”
Number 5 laughed awkwardly. There was no denying it. In Master Kongja’s eyes, his face was probably like a smashed potato.
“Is my face like that?”
Number 5 anxiously checked his ears, but Kirian, as if not seeing such Number 5, muttered lowly.
“Potato?”
Has the noble Master Kongja never seen a potato?
“It’s a light brown, round-rooted plant.”
“It doesn’t look like it at all.”
“Huh?”
Number 5 looked flustered, and though he only mumbled, Kirian’s eyebrows frowned sharply.
“Potatoes are cute.”
Doubting his ears, Number 5 vigorously rubbed his earholes. Thanks to that, Kirian’s next words were heard clearly.
“You look more like a deep-sea fish than a potato.”
As Kirian’s gaze sharpened as if challenging him to refute, Number 5 quickly nodded.
“Y-Yes.”
“Perhaps your temperament is filthy too. I can’t understand what’s good about your inner self.”
Under the continuous verbal abuse, Number 5 snapped back, albeit timidly.
“Hahaha, is that so? As much as I’ve heard that I’m ugly, I’ve also heard that I’m kind……. ”
As Kirian’s gaze turned cold completely, Number 5 immediately raised his hand.
“My temperament is bad.”
Although it was evident that the one with a bad temper was Master Kongja, Number 5 began to sell his personality with tears in his eyes.
“I’ve been in the organization for a long time, and recently, thanks to Ant-nim, I’ve taken my hands off that life, but nature is not easy to change.”
Kirian nodded his head.
“Wherever you go, whoever you meet, always introduce yourself properly. Ugly and dirty in character.”
“Yes……”
As Number 5 answered with a crawling voice, Kirian seemed satisfied and left the room.
“Haha……. ”
Once Kirian completely disappeared, Number 5’s legs gave way, and he sat down.
“If only the captured hyungs weren’t here……. ”
Number 5 grumbled while rubbing his closed door.
I’ll use the power of the aristocrat to help with the release of Madeleine Pa, even if just to see the sincerity of the aristocrat…
“I’ll endure it.”
Kirian, who came out of Room 5, strode down the corridor with big steps. Even with the figure of Number 5, pale and sweetly floating, the gloomy mood didn’t dissipate.
“Fell for him at first sight?”
The sound of teasing echoed in the silent corridor.
It was unbelievable. She wasn’t at all like a sister. Despite being kind, she had never shown much interest in the surrounding nobles.
He now realized how little he knew about her.
The sister, whom he thought was satisfied with aristocratic life, had actually been terribly unhappy and had been preparing to leave for a long time.
“It’s probably because of me.”
When they met again with their parents, the sister seemed quite pleased. If that was the case, there was only one reason for her to leave.
After sending Eliza away, instead of lying quietly in bed, I headed for the desk. Although my injuries flared up with small movements, I stubbornly sat down on the chair and straightened my back.
I clenched and then opened my hand, and faint traces of magic, which had been absent during my time lying in the hospital bed, were weakly felt.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
