“What about Pablo?”

“He’ll be okay. We just need to find a way.”

I tried to maintain a calm expression, not wanting to waver like Number 5, but I was also embarrassed. I felt awkward about what to say to Matt when I got back.

But going back and recklessly barging into Marquess Manor wouldn’t solve anything.

After today’s events and running out of magic, it was best to anticipate another day.

“While I go down to the basement to find the missing persons, you keep an eye on the surface. But in the meantime, have they been caught…”

“No.”

I shook my head firmly.
“If Pablo had been caught while spying, there would have definitely been a sound. He’s the type to scream for help. Perhaps he explained that everyone else is in the underground cellar and begged to be released?”

Number 5 quickly agreed.

“That makes sense.”

And then he sighed again.

“Ah, Pablo. If you’re going to do something shady, at least be smart about it. If you had just stuck with Ant, things wouldn’t have turned out like this. It’s because you’re stupid, just plain stupid.”

Even though I spoke harshly, I was a bit worried. I wondered if he was enduring all sorts of torture and suffering at this moment.

Pablo was trembling.

If I had known this would happen, he should have properly followed Ant’s instructions. It wasn’t as simple as Number 5 disappearing into the basement as soon as we arrived.

Back then, he praised his smart self and boasted about how things were working out well, but I never expected the situation to unravel like this.

This was all Ant’s fault for dragging himself into this mess.

“These are the items that came out of his clothes, Your Lordship.”

Spread out on the ground, Pablo couldn’t move and various odds and ends were laid out in front of him. Brooches, watches, and even a golden lock. These were the results of the things that the foolish Number 5 intended to pilfer and run away with while looking for the missing persons.

While recovering the items, Marquess Majiné’s expression remained stern.

“Enough with this stuff. We need clues. Clues.”

The servant bowed his head.

“I’m sorry. Besides what this guy stole, he had nothing on him.”

Marquess Majiné ruthlessly stomped on a pocket watch with his shoe.

“Why is that woman alive? How.”

“… When you say that woman…, could it be… Are you talking about Ant by any chance?”

At that moment, Pablo, sensing something, spoke up.

Marquess Majiné’s gaze, looking at Pablo, changed. With an extended smile as if saying, ‘Look at this,’ Majiné lifted Pablo’s chin.

“It turns out that he’s not only a suspicious accomplice who came all the way to Marquess Manor, but also quite the loyal servant, as I thought.”

Pablo, who had been fiercely rolling his head, saw an opportunity.

“It’s absolutely not like that! I was forced to come too. My fellow members have strong heads, so I couldn’t just leave them behind.”

Pablo forcibly shrugged off the hands of the servants holding him and kneeled in front of Marquess Majiné.

“Ask me anything.”

Looking up at Marquess Majiné, Pablo’s eyes were filled with passion to the point of burning.

“I am the person who has seen even Ant’s face that no one else has seen. I know famous people Ant has met! Moreover, my son knows even their base locations.”

Marquess Majiné’s smile grew longer.

“Is that so?”

He once again grabbed Pablo and stomped the hands of the servant trying to push him down to the ground. Ignoring the screams, Majiné lowered himself to Pablo’s eye level.

“Go ahead, recite them all for me.”

Kiryian didn’t know what state of mind he was in when he left the banquet hall. The voice calling him and the restraining touch, everything was blurry.

At the end of his aimless walk, the cliffs of the Denev Mountains blocked his way.

“Sister.”

It was a phrase that flowed out as a habit.

Once his entire world, now a phrase with an unknown meaning.

Of course, there was no response.

Kiryian, who had been staring at the cliffs for a while, eventually chuckled.

“I begged just to stay alive, and it feels like yesterday.”

For two years, he wished every day just to stay alive. But now that it had actually happened, he felt lost. Whether to be happy, sad, or angry.

A hollow laughter escaped like a deflated balloon.

Even if it wasn’t the form he wanted, he had always thought of her as family. But she wasn’t.

“That’s how unhappy it was. To the point of wanting to escape.”

Heis’s voice still echoed in his ears.

It seemed like everything was a misunderstanding.

Planning his own death was as horrifying as wanting to live a new life far away. Wanting to leave and make sure no one could chase her.

Even if that were the case.

“There was no need to leave like this.”

His sister pushed the duke into hell to escape her own unhappiness.

How spineless he must have been.

Not only did he always spill fake laughter, thinking it was real, but he also deluded himself into thinking the fabricated death with his fiancée was real. How much of a fool he must have been.

“Really cruel until the end.”

Kiryian looked up at the cliff with hazy eyes.

“Speak.”

If it’s unhappy, it’s unhappy. If you dislike it, you dislike it.

“She would have let you go.”

Kiryian clenched his fist.

Even as he spoke, he knew it was a lie.

Even if he was a selfish bastard, or an idiot bastard who couldn’t regain his senses even with a knife in his back, it didn’t matter. He had no intention of letting go of his sister.

He didn’t know what he wanted to do when he met her.

Whether he wanted to convince her, resent her for why she did that.

But one thing was clear; he had no intention of stopping the search.

She might think of it as a hunt. But he had no intention of giving up.

She would know, too. No matter how much a knife was thrust into his back, only the knife would break.

“Probably because I was a monster.”

It was an extremely neat conclusion.

Ex-husband Wants Reconciliation

One-line summary: Chasing the wife to the crematorium (making an effort to attract someone who has become indifferent), the female lead doesn’t look back, the second male lead takes the position.

Intro:

To repay the kindness of the older generation, Su Mu crossed into a female-dominated world and became a live-in daughter-in-law of the Yan family, single-handedly saving the Yan family from fire and water.

But her husband, Yan Jiyue, the eldest son of the Yan family, treated her with sarcasm and never showed her a good face.

It wasn’t until after Su Mu’s death that this pampered and arrogant young master shed a few fake tears and pretended to want to die for love.

This life’s kindness was enough. If there was a next life, she would definitely kick Yan Jiyue away.

Who knew that the heavens would be so kind as to allow her to be reborn, returning to the time when she had just married into the Yan family.

Su Mu glanced at the Yan eldest son, who still spoke coldly to her, and threw a divorce letter in front of him.

“Let’s divorce!”

***

Yan Jiyue never imagined that he would be reborn. He happily went to find Su Mu, wanting to make up for the mistakes he had made in his ignorant youth.

Wasn’t the reason the heavens allowed him to be reborn to let him reconcile with Su Mu?

But when he pushed open the door to Su Mu’s room, the person lying on the bed was another man.

Su Mu’s personal attendant, Xie Yi.

Yan Jiyue hated him so much that his teeth itched. In front of Su Mu, Xie Yi was a gentle and considerate whisperer of sweet nothings, but in reality, he was vicious-hearted and deliberately sabotaged their husband and wife relationship.

In the previous life, it was he who secretly hid in Su Mu’s coffin and committed suicide, stealing a step ahead of him to be buried with Su Mu.

Yan Jiyue’s eyes were filled with hatred as he cursed, “What kind of thing are you? Your background is lowly, what right do you have to occupy Su Mu?”

Xie Yi looked at the sleeping Su Mu and no longer pretended to be a whisperer of sweet nothings.

He proudly stuck out his belly, “I have the right because my belly is capable of giving the Wife-master a daughter.”

***

Yan Jiyue was consumed with jealousy. He spread rumors that Xie Yi had once been branded with the mark of a “harlot” on his chest.

But on the night Xie Yi cut off the flesh bearing that mark, Su Mu suddenly realized something was amiss.

“How did you know the exact moment I was poisoned? And why did you show up a month early?”

Xie Yi remained silent, blood from his wound soaking through his robes. His sapphire eyes brimmed with anguish – or was it just a flawless act?

Between a once-arrogant husband now seeking redemption, and a gentle soul willing to die for her – who truly held the darkest secrets? And could it be that Su Mu and Yan Jiyue weren’t the only ones given a second chance at life…?
