Eirtis arrived at a plain forest in the very center for the first time. He looked around, but apart from dense trees, nothing else was visible. It seemed like the palace had scattered all the participants to different places. Where could everyone have landed?

“Let’s find a totnamu tree for now.”

Eirtis looked around. Although he knew it was the largest tree in this hunting ground, he couldn’t even see the tip of the totnamu tree. So, without a doubt, the place he arrived was far away from the center.

“I hope everyone stays safe until I arrive.”

After checking the direction, he immediately ran towards the center. While running, every nook and cranny of the forest came into his view. However, nothing that could be called a treasure was visible. He decided to focus on moving to his destination. At least, he had to get there before sunset.

It was frustrating. If he had used magic, he could have found everyone at once without going through this trouble. However, making a mistake while using magic could lead to serious consequences. The aura of magic tools could be felt all over the forest. One on the tree he just passed, another behind the rock, and one more in the side grassy area.

“The palace folks sure hid many of them.”

The palace seemed to be monitoring the participants for real. But, just because they prevented the use of magic, it didn’t mean he would lose. Finally, he began to see the totnamu tree in the distance.

“Now, I’m almost there.”

He increased his speed and started running.

Suddenly, a piercing scream came from the nearby grassy area.

“Ah, save me! Somebody help!”

It seemed a monster had appeared. Eirtis quickly ran towards the direction of the sound.

As expected, there was a participant being chased by a monster with the head of a cow and the body of a human. The rather large monster, not a particularly challenging high-level monster, was just unarmed, unlike Eirtis. The weapon in his backpack was armor.

Moreover, it seemed the other participant didn’t have it in his bag.

Otherwise, there’s no way he’d be wandering around this hunting ground without any weapon.

Eirtis shouted at the monster, “Where are you looking? Your opponent is over here.”

The giant cow slowly turned its head.

“Krururu…!”

With a charging posture ready to rush towards Eirtis, the enraged cow monster glared at him.

However, Eirtis didn’t avoid its gaze.

Then, the furious cow began to charge towards Eirtis with all four legs.

Standing still without any movement until the last moment, Eirtis finally dodged when the monster approached too close.

The cow was startled, but now it couldn’t change its direction.

Eirtis immediately climbed on top of the cow’s torso and tightly grabbed its neck.

“Kreer!”
Upon that, the giant cow slowly turned its head.

“Krurururu…!”

The monster, with an imminent intention to charge, glared at Eirtis. However, he did not avoid its gaze.

Then, the enraged cow began to charge towards Eirtis with all four legs.

Remaining motionless until the last moment, Eirtis finally dodged when the monster approached too close, just as it was about to attack.

The cow, now startled, couldn’t change its direction.

Eirtis immediately climbed on top of the cow’s torso and tightly grabbed its neck.

“Kreoo!”

While carrying Eirtis on its back, the furious cow monster jumped around like crazy. However, Eirtis continued to choke the monster’s neck, hanging on.

Despite the cow’s struggles to break free, it eventually collapsed to the ground, lifeless.

Thud!

Simultaneously, Eirtis descended back to the ground.

How long had it been since he fought without using magic?

“I thought I was going to pass out.”

It would have been really dangerous if he hadn’t been wearing armor.

At that moment, a voice from behind called out to him.

It was the participant who had been chased by the monster earlier.

“Th-thank you for saving me.”

“Are you injured?”

“Thanks to you, I’m perfectly fine. By the way… are you Grand Magus Eirtis?”

Eirtis nodded.

Then the participant took something out of his backpack and handed it over.

It was a small picture with a portrait of Princess Arlin drawn on it.

“Please accept this. It is the treasure you should find in this competition.”

“What…?”

Surprised, Eirtis accepted the picture and examined it front and back.

Indeed, behind the picture, there was a written message:

[Treasure with a difficulty level of D

If you only possess the picture: 1 point can be obtained.

If you find and bring Princess Arlin’s favorite flower: An additional 10 points can be obtained.]

This was considered a treasure. No wonder there was nothing conspicuous throughout the forest.

However, Eirtis handed the picture back to the participant.

“It’s too expensive for a life. Since you found it, take it with you.”

However, the participant shook his head.

“It’s no longer needed for me. I don’t want to become a demon, risking my life like that.”

“Are you serious…?”

“The answer to the problem is the ‘Lacil Flower.’ Please survive until the end.”

“Hey, wait a moment!”
