“It’s been quite some time. Let’s meet again next time, then.”

Russell rose from his seat with a polite bow. There wasn’t a trace of hesitation in his departing back.

Thump. My heart pounded nervously.

I knew I could keep seeing Russell. Yet, my hand reached out involuntarily toward his retreating figure.

“Um, Your Grace.”

“What is it?”

Russell’s expression stiffened slightly as he noticed Summer’s hand clutching the edge of his sleeve.

Summer quickly let go and raised both hands, as if to show she meant no harm.

Only then did Russell return to his usual impassive demeanor.

“Are you busy?”

“I am rather busy, yes.”

“Oh, I see… It’s nothing, really. Nothing at all.”

Summer knew, even to herself, that she was rambling incoherently.

She knew better than anyone that Russell was busy, and she also knew well that holding him back was improper.

Yet, every time she met him, she couldn’t help but think, just a little longer, just a little more.
