Four days remained until the day Summer had to leave.

“Have you decided to attend the banquet?”

“Yes. There’s still a bit of time before I have to go back anyway.”

“Thank you, sir, for keeping our young lady company.”

After Russell left, Summer asked Mary to help her prepare for the banquet.

At first, Mary couldn’t believe what Summer said. The person who hadn’t even left her bed until yesterday was suddenly talking about attending a banquet. Still, seeing that her young lady was trying to do something—anything—filled Mary with genuine joy.

After finishing her bath, Summer spoke while Mary helped her into her dress.

“Mary. When Fay returns, I’ll be sure to ask her about you—about a way for you to continue existing even after I leave.”

She quickly added this, bothered by something Mary had said earlier. At Mary’s words, Summer’s face tightened slightly and she shrugged.

“I’m sorry, but I don’t trust witches.”

“Hmm… I did get angry, but Fay is still someone trying to help me.”

No matter how betrayed or furious she felt, she had no choice. Fay was the only one who could truly help Summer in her current situation.

That was precisely why she had to endure this unpleasant feeling.

“Witches aren’t human, my lady. They have no concept of good or evil. Do we punish the crime of killing a person the same as killing a dog? It’s the same for them.”
