Reus’s heartbeat thudded heavily within his chest. The loud pulsing sound reaching his ears roused Roel, who had unknowingly dozed off, slowly lifting her eyelids.

Merely gazing at him was enough to make her own heart beat out of rhythm, growing louder with each passing moment.

Roel, who had only been blinking quietly, slowly raised her head while her face remained pressed against Reus’s body. But perhaps due to the alcohol, she couldn’t properly support her neck, making her movement appear very unsteady.

Just as her head began to tilt sharply backward, Reus—who had been utterly still—quickly reached out and firmly caught her head under the chin.

Now resting her head on his palm, Roel stared blankly into the air for a while before softly narrowing her eyes, then letting out a breathy laugh.

“I’m dizzy….”

As soon as Reus straightened her head in response, Roel’s face immediately sank back onto his chest.

“It’s too loud… My ears are ringing.”

Annoyed by the persistent heartbeat interrupting her drowsiness, Roel weakly grumbled and rubbed her head against him. Finally, a crack appeared on Reus’s otherwise composed expression, and the tips of his ears quickly turned red.

Though the flow of events resembled their wedding night, the circumstances were entirely different. More precisely, unlike back then when it had merely been bothersome, this situation now felt like a different kind of ordeal.

At that moment, Roel—still blinking sleepily—lifted her arm and wrapped it around Reus’s neck.

“Reus, hold me.”

Her tone held no trace of seduction. Reus knew she was making a sincere request, yet for some reason, it sounded awkward, and he tightly shut his eyes.
