I was so flustered that I couldn’t get a word out properly.

Why not just walk? But I hadn’t even said it out loud—yet Reus immediately replied.

“Wouldn’t it be worthwhile to consider why I should carry you?”

What on earth is he thinking!

I needed to say something, but instead I heard an utterly irrelevant remark.

“And… isn’t the master bedroom on a higher floor?”

‘What on earth does that have to do with anything…?’

I was still bewildered, but Reus, as if he had nothing more to explain, simply walked ahead again.

“No…! I can walk perfectly fine on my own. Put me down alrea—ah!”

Reus shifted his hold on me, but apparently misjudged his strength—and for a moment, I floated into the air.

Heart lurching, I instinctively wrapped my arms tightly around Reus’s neck.

Just then, three maids appeared from the opposite direction at the worst possible moment.

“Huh? She told me yesterday… Oh my!”

One of the maids, walking side by side with the others, stopped abruptly with a startled exclamation. The other two halted as well and naturally turned their gazes toward us.

“…W-we didn’t see anything…”
