“Ugh!”

The moment Misha closed the door, a sharp slap struck her—so hard she nearly toppled onto the carriage seat.

Though the countess spoke in a cold voice, her body trembled violently.

“Because of you… because of you, I’ve suffered such humiliation. Get out, you fool!”

The countess pointed toward the door. Stunned, Misha stood frozen outside the carriage, even forgetting to cry.

Only after the carriage had left the academy courtyard did Misha finally burst into tears.

Misha locked herself in her dormitory room and cried and cried.

‘Fool.’

The countess had never once called her that before. Misha Roar had always been known as pretty, elegant, sociable, and a musical prodigy.

You were born with every blessing—you deserve to enjoy them all.

Misha felt as if the sky were collapsing at her mother’s changed demeanor, yet she also knew it was only natural for anyone to react this way upon learning of her grades.

In this dreadful situation, her only hope was that her mother would keep the secret from her father. She prayed fervently, again and again, that her father would never find out.

Until now, Misha had firmly believed that if she kept studying hard, her grades would rise as much as she wanted by finals. She kept telling herself that everything would be resolved if only she did well on the final exam.

But now that her mother had discovered her current grades, even that illusory hope had crumbled.

She still spent about a third of her study time looking up words in the dictionary. Often, she misspelled words during class and couldn’t find them in the dictionary, forcing her to guess their meanings and study that way.
