The ring case flew to me even before I could call her Highness. I caught it in mid-air, and our eyes met.

Princess Miliora sighed deeply.

“Ha!”

‘Damn it…’

I picked up a few rings that had fallen out of the case onto the carpet and placed the case back on the table.

Stealing a glance, Princess Miliora’s face was one of utter disbelief, as if she had stopped breathing.

‘I should’ve just taken the hit. Maybe then, her Highness would’ve felt a bit sorry!’

However, upon observing her more closely, I concluded that catching the ring case was the right move.

Even if my forehead had been split open or my eyeball burst, Miliora wouldn’t have blinked an eye.

She spoke with trembling fury.

“How dare you… You will not stop mocking me!”

“…”

I tried to object, feeling wronged, but then I remembered that I had provoked Princess Miliora since day one, so I kept my mouth shut.

But I couldn’t remain silent, so I spoke cautiously and earnestly.

“Your Highness, instead of continually trying to dismiss me, perhaps consider how you might put me to use. I am really hardworking and competent when it comes to getting things done.”

Duke Kaidel had praised me in a similar manner; would it work on royalty too?

“Shut up. Just shut up and go away.”

“Your Highness, please…”

“Didn’t I tell you to go away!”

Her Highness Miliora’s hand reached for the ring case again. If I were to catch it another time, she’d think I was mocking her.

I decided to retreat.

“Then, I shall see you tomorrow, Your Highness. If you need me before that, just call for me!”

As I practically ran out of the reception room, I took a sigh of relief, and Ariana looked at me with widened eyes.

I gave her a tired thumbs-up and a smile. Ariana managed to hold back her laughter.

It had been a while since I last visited the garden.

I couldn’t say that the conversation had been productive, but it was still progress that Princess Miliora had started speaking with me.

I offered a cup of tea to Lord Rond and spoke.

“I finally had a conversation with Princess Miliora.”

“Is that so?”

I smiled at Lord Rond’s pitying look.

“Don’t worry. It wasn’t that bad.”

He took a sip of his tea and said,

“Seems like I should be worried.”

Following his gaze, Ariana was approaching with palace servants.

She spoke with an awkward expression.

“Miss, I had no other choice…”

Then a servant pushed her aside and stepped forward.

“Lady Lorisha is waiting for you.”

I knew something was terribly wrong as I was led to Lady Lorisha’s room. Why were servants escorting me?

My foreboding was correct. As soon as I entered Lady Lorisha’s office, she stood holding a whip longer than her arm.

The servants blocked the door as if to prevent my escape.

‘Damn it.’

Lady Lorisha commanded.

“Kneel.”

“…”

“I said kneel.”

“Why?”

Instead of complying, I questioned her, causing Lady Lorisha to widen her eyes. At her gesture, servants rushed to force me to kneel.

I raised my voice.

“You need to tell me why this is happening!”

“Don’t you know why, Lorisha Roar?”

Her voice was dripping with sarcasm, filled with disdain as if to say, ‘If you say so.’

“I don’t know!”

“Extend your arms.”

“Explain it!”

“Extend both arms, Lorisha Roar.”

Still, I resisted, prompting Lady Lorisha to gesture at the servants again. They forced my arms forward, and the burning whip flew.

“Ah!”

The scream was partly due to surprise, but the pain also momentarily blinded me.

“Now confess your wrongdoing.”

“What are you talking about?”

The whip flew again, and I ground my teeth to suppress another scream.
“Is this by the order of Her Highness Miliora?”

“Confess your wrongdoings.”

The steward lashed the whip each time. Red bruises were already forming in a line on my arm.

I couldn’t stand to watch it.

“Let go! Let me go! I’ll take it!”

I struggled free from the servants and offered my own arm.

The steward glared at me, about to speak. But I shouted first.

“Confess? I don’t know what you’re talking about, so go ahead, keep hitting. If you’re whipping a maid of Her Highness, you must have a valid reason and evidence, right?”

Raising the whip high, the steward looked at me as if I were an insect and said,

“Ha! How shameless can you be?”

“Hit me if you must. I’ll gladly accept the punishment if it’s coming from you, as a servant to Her Highness. But you won’t hear that confession. Because I’ve done nothing wrong!”

“What on earth…”

It was a war. I never asked her what confession she wanted to hear, and she continued to whip, clutching her sore shoulder.

With no more room to whip my bruised arms, the steward began to lash my back.

She was panting with the effort of swinging the whip and said,

“Miss Roar, enduring this way is an insult to Her Highness.”

“…”

I had nothing more to say. I just clenched my teeth and held back my groans. I counted up to a dozen, but after that, I lost track.

Only when a servant interrupted did the steward reluctantly back off.

My Arch-enemy Sealed My Memory and Said That He is My Husband

This is an incredibly captivating story that you absolutely shouldn’t miss! I’ll give a brief introduction here, and below you’ll find a detailed synopsis of the plot.

The female lead is a fierce and powerful demon king. The male lead is a once-in-a-millennium celestial lord, admired by the entire cultivation world.

They are equally matched, legendary rivals who have battled for centuries.

In the final duel, the female lead is gravely injured. The male lead saves her, seals her memories, and hides her true identity. He tells her that he is her fiancé. His entire life has been flawless—except for the one thing he never expected, never controlled, and never wanted to control: falling for his greatest enemy. She is his inner demon, his obsession.

When the female lead regains her memories, she is furious at his deception.

She makes his life a living hell.

And somehow, the male lead—possibly a total masochist—doesn’t mind at all. In fact, he’s happy she’s paying attention to him.

Yep, we’re back to my favorite trope: male lead suffering. If you love this kind of story, jump into the pit with me now!!!

Intro

Dong Xia lost her memory.

Her handsome and extremely powerful fiancé Li Qing comforted her: “It’s okay if you can’t remember. I’ll always be with you.”

Everyone thought Dong Xia’s ancestors must have burned incense to get such a perfect fiancé. He was the number one person in the immortal realm, yet he remained chaste and only loved her.

…

The day before marrying her fiancé, Dong Xia finally remembered everything.

She wasn’t suffering from memory loss at all.

Her arch-enemy had made her fake her death, destroyed her cultivation, replaced her memories, and pretended to be her deeply in love fiancé.

No wonder he said, “It’s okay if you can’t remember”!

Dong Xia laughed coldly as she pulled out her long knife: Li Qing, prepare to die 🙂

*

Li Qing, as the supreme being of the immortal realm, was the people’s shining beacon.

The only unknown stain in his life was his affection for Dong Xia, the ruler of the demon realm.

In the final battle of the war between immortals and demons, the sky collapsed and the earth shattered. The ruler of the demon realm was finally slain under the sword of the supreme being of the immortal realm, and everyone in the immortal realm applauded.

The cultivation world lost a ruler of the demon realm.

And in the back mountain of Li Qing’s cave dwelling, he secretly hid away a fiancée.

Notes:

1. The female lead is white on the outside, black on the inside, and the queen of flattery; the male lead repeatedly tests the edge of darkness, a VIP guest at the crematorium.

2. Fantasy cultivation world setting.
