Ibelia returned to the Crown Princess’s Palace and exhaled the breath she’d been holding, collapsing onto the floor as though crumbling.

“Your Highness!”

Startled, Pailin immediately rushed to her side, but Ibelia couldn’t even utter a word to say she was alright. Liurian had imprisoned Lellia—she couldn’t believe it, even after seeing it with her own eyes.

Lellia’s desperate cry still rang clearly in her ears like tinnitus.

[Your Highness! I’m innocent! I’m innocent, Your Highness!]

She was dragged away pitifully by the knights, tears streaming so profusely that “sobbing” hardly described it. Yet Liurian didn’t so much as blink at the sight of Lellia.

On the contrary, he looked relieved, as if he’d finally resolved some long-postponed, burdensome matter.

Everyone around him stared with fearful eyes. They surely knew of the relationship between Liurian and Lellia that had lasted for quite some time, so to them, he must have seemed utterly cruel.

But Ibelia wasn’t afraid of him—not in the slightest. Each time his image imprinted itself sharply in her eyes, her chest ached.

His cold smile looked to her like a grief-stricken, suppressed fury. He appeared dangerously unsteady, as if he might collapse at any moment.

“Your Highness….”

Ibelia took several deep breaths in succession, then softly called out to him. Her faint, trembling voice sounded unbearably pitiful, like someone gazing at an ember about to go out.

She was far too anxious. It felt impossible to calm herself. The only thought surging through her like instinct was that she had to see him.

Ibelia curled the hand that had been braced against the floor into a fist, then tried to move her weakened legs.
