Late at night, Felix’s anxious footsteps paced restlessly through the Crown Prince’s bedroom. Unlike his usual self, he appeared unusually distracted. Caliph, unable to bear it any longer, narrowed his brows and growled a warning.

“Why don’t you just sit down and calm yourself already.”

He’d been in a foul mood all day anyway—because of the Empress he’d met that morning.

She’d never been someone he particularly liked, but today his aversion had reached its peak. After all, wasn’t she the very woman who’d secretly summoned Ibelia?

Just thinking about it made him furious. Even sharing the same space with her had become unbearable, so he’d blurted out whatever came to mind and stormed straight out of the Empress’s quarters.

Ever since then, he’d remained in this state. He’d tried to lift his sinking spirits, but nothing worked as he wished.

He felt he needed rest, so he’d come to his bedroom earlier than usual. Yet he couldn’t relax as he pleased—thanks to Felix.

Ever since early evening, Felix had been wandering distractedly around the room with a vacant expression.

Enough was enough. If words wouldn’t work, he’d resort to force to calm him down—even if he couldn’t be certain his own strength could overcome Felix’s damn ability.

“This is your last chance. Stop pacing like a madman and either sit down or go to sleep—pick one.”

Caliph snapped harshly. But Felix remained unchanged. He didn’t stop walking; his expression only twisted further.

Frustration surged to the very top of Caliph’s head. Unable to endure it any longer, he shot up from his seat and roughly grabbed Felix by the shoulders.

That was all it took—just grabbing Felix’s shoulders. Yet Felix’s restless steps halted abruptly, as if by magic.

“It seems things have gotten tangled up in a complicated mess.”

Felix’s eyes, now sharply focused, locked directly onto Caliph. At that, Caliph couldn’t help but frown.
