Somewhere in Felix’s mind, Caliph’s unusually solemn tone made him look at him with tense eyes. After a brief hesitation, Caliph finally voiced the question he’d kept locked inside his mouth.

“You’re planning to ask Eve for help, aren’t you?”

“…Only if Ibelia permits it.”

Felix answered after a moment of hesitation. Caliph’s sigh cut through the air as though he’d been waiting for that reply.

His heart grew even heavier. He didn’t need to ask why Caliph had posed that question—he understood its meaning perfectly well. Yet, could his own heart ever find peace?

He had always wished for Ibelia to remain unharmed. Thus, Caliph’s question must have stemmed from his hope that Felix wouldn’t rely on Ibelia’s aid.

Knowing this, Felix still couldn’t give the answer Caliph wanted—and that troubled him deeply.

“If Eve still hasn’t awakened by the time they arrive here, what will you do then?”

“I’ll fight with everything I’ve got until Ibelia wakes up.”

Caliph quietly mulled over Felix’s words. Among the countless lives he’d lived and the innumerable people he’d met, none had ever been stronger than Felix.

After all, Felix wasn’t merely human to begin with. Yet the very idea that even he would have to fight desperately carried an indescribable weight.

Moreover, the thought of placing Ibelia in such a perilous position was deeply unsettling. Still, he couldn’t scold Felix or lash out at him.

Caliph turned his gaze once more out the window. The sinister violet aura blanketing the sky choked him just by looking at it.

If Felix couldn’t defeat them, neither could he. If the two of them failed to overcome their enemies, this world would end right here and now. And if that happened, there would be no hope left for Ibelia’s true happiness.
