Yustia’s complexion turned pale. The shoulders held by Terot shook ruthlessly.

“It’s okay, Your Majesty. If you follow my instructions, nothing will go wrong.”

Terot whispered to Yustia, giving more strength to the hand holding her shoulder. As soon as her face lifted, he warmly smiled, nodding as if telling her not to worry too much.

However, Yustia still appeared anxious. But now, there was truly no place to retreat.

Terot once again firmly grabbed Yustia’s shoulder. It was a touch imbued with a quite different meaning compared to before.

Finally regaining her composure, Yustia bit her lower lip tightly. Then, taking a deep breath, she looked towards the reception room door.

“Welcome inside quickly.”

Yustia, answering the maid outside the door, looked at Terot several times, like a child. Each time, Terot returned her desired smile as if comforting and guiding her.

At last, the reception room door opened, revealing Evelia. Terot quickly found his place and walked towards her.

“Your Majesty, I heard you were looking for me.”

Evelia, who had approached so close, bent at the waist and politely offered her greetings. Instead of directly answering, Yustia adjusted her voice by swallowing dry saliva.

“Welcome, Princess Consort. I appreciate you rushing over on short notice. Please, take a seat.”

Yustia looked at Evelia and indicated the opposite seat. It was a much affectionate gaze compared to other times.

Perhaps because of that, Evelia couldn’t erase her anxious expression. She hesitated for a while. However, she eventually sat down obediently.

Only after facing each other did the real tension begin to build.

While keeping her gaze on the edge of the table, Yustia seemed unable to make up her mind. Terot looked at her worriedly. Despite all the urging, judging by her current state, it seemed she might not say anything, let alone present the prepared words.

After a moment of contemplation, Terot took a step forward from where he stood and bowed his head towards Yustia.

“Your Majesty, as you’ve mentioned, it seems the tea I asked to be prepared in advance is about to cool. It would be good to spend some time with Princess Consort chatting, but how about enjoying the tea first?”

Terot spoke plainly, as usual. Only then did Yustia, seeming to regain some composure, nod her head.

“Oh, right. I forgot about preparing the tea. Princess Consort, would you mind having a cup of tea with me?”

“…Yes, Your Majesty. Of course.”

Reluctantly nodding at Yustia’s well-organized inquiry, Evelia reluctantly agreed. After confirming the response, Yustia nodded towards Terot. It was a signal to proceed with the preparations.
Terot moved as if he had been waiting, promptly handling everything from approaching with the teapot to pouring tea into each cup.

Once all preparations were complete, Terot took a step back again. Then, an indescribable stillness ensued.

Yustia grinned at Evelia, slowly reaching out her hand towards the teacup. Her hand trembled incessantly. She clenched and unclenched her hand repeatedly, perhaps to prevent Evelia from noticing, but it was impossible to tell how many times.

She was too scared. Terrified. If she could turn back time now, she wanted to do so.

But, as Terot had said, there was no turning back now. She repeated this thought several times, trying to gather herself.

“I’ve been enjoying this tea a lot lately because it has a wonderful fragrance. I hope it suits Princess Consort’s taste as well.”

Yustia said with a bright smile, the calmest she had been so far. Evelia couldn’t suspect anything.

It wasn’t uncommon for the empress to invite her for tea. Although she often had to listen to unpleasant stories under the pretext of tea, she could hear with one ear and let it go with the other.

So, Evelia thought it would be just a regular meeting today.

“Please, have a taste, Princess Consort.”

After sipping the tea, Yustia, with a satisfied smile, gestured towards the cup in front of Evelia.

Evelia took the cup without hesitation. There was still no hint of suspicion in her expression.

The teacup hanging from her delicate fingers slowly approached her lips. And when the lips finally touched the surface, the withheld tea flowed smoothly into her mouth.

Caliph strode through the imperial palace garden as if racing. His breath was heavy, but he couldn’t stop. It was because of the urgent message Felix had brought to him a while ago.

[Caliph, you should hurry to the empress’s palace. Evelia went there upon the empress’s summons, and something seems off.]

It was an unexpected remark. On the other hand, Felix’s expression was more serious than ever. Therefore, Caliph couldn’t continue holding the position he had with Lady Caroline and some other delegates.

After politely asking for understanding, he left the place. Only after thoroughly checking who was around did Caliph urgently ask Felix.

[What’s going on all of a sudden?] [Evelia went to the empress’s palace.]
