While the welfare of the Empire was important, she couldn’t afford to lose both babies. Especially when one of them was the son she had longed for.

Yustia stared intently at the two babies lying beside her with restless eyes. The fact that she could only save one out of all her children made each second feel like an eternity.

But in the end, Yustia made a choice. She embraced one of the babies in her arms and turned away from the other.

She knew better than anyone what fate awaited the baby she left in Dwayne’s embrace. Nevertheless, Yustia forcibly held onto her chest, feeling like she would vomit blood, as she stared through the baby in her arms.
Since that day, Yustia pretended as if there were no other child than Liurian, and she also made efforts to erase the abandoned child from her mind. Without doing so, she couldn’t endure each passing day.

Dwayne, too, never mentioned another child to her. From the beginning, it seemed as if Liurian was the only child Yustia had given birth to.

So naturally, Yustia thought that Dwayne must have killed the child. If that were the case, then he went to the extreme even after that.

“…But it wasn’t the case.”

“…”

“Could it be that at that time, the child…”

With a sudden thought that popped into her mind, Yustia stopped breathing. If, by any chance, she hadn’t killed the child at that time, the Caliph mentioned by Relia might be the child she had abandoned.

“Ha, if that’s the case… really, if that’s the case…”

Yustia’s stiffened body trembled uncontrollably. Eventually, she ended up sitting down in the same spot.

If that were the case, it would be a truly horrifying situation. If the child who returned from the battlefield was the one she had abandoned, where was her son Liurian?

It was an unimaginably dreadful scenario. However, Yustia couldn’t easily dismiss the suspicion.

Even though she thought otherwise, her son always felt strangely unfamiliar.

“It might be good to check, to check it.”

Yustia made her best effort to shake her already frozen head, trying to come up with a way to resolve the situation without revealing it to Dwayne.

The most certain way was to ask Dwayne how he handled the abandoned child at that time. However, if she did that, the observant Dwayne would undoubtedly catch on to the current situation. It was the worst way to make the worst situation even worse.

She had to somehow resolve the situation on her own without letting Dwayne know about it.

After hesitating for a long time and trembling with anxiety, Yustia finally took a deep breath and spoke a familiar name.

“Te, Terot. Terot!”

“Today, Relia came to see Evelia.”

Caliph, who was heading towards the bed with a fatigued expression, suddenly stopped in his tracks and turned urgently.

“What? Why did Relia come to Eve?”

It was a day of constant contemplation and planning with Viscountess Caroline and the road back. There was no energy left to guarantee Evelia’s safety in every possible way.

However, Felix’s words, which were completely unexpected, drained even the remaining strength.

“Her apparent purpose seemed to be related to the incident in the past, and she came to apologize to Evelia.”

“What? Relia apologizing to Eve? That’s absurd.”

“Yeah, I think the same. There must be some ulterior motive for her to come looking for Evelia.”

“What were you doing when Relia went to see Eve?”

“I was by Evelia’s side, protecting her. Anyway, that noblewoman couldn’t see me.”
“So, does that mean you were also watching Relia? Couldn’t you read Eungae’s mind?”

“Unfortunately, I couldn’t find the answer you were hoping for.”

“You needlessly peeked into my mind, but when it came time to use your abilities, they were utterly useless.”

The Caliph grumbled irritably. The tone was clearly sarcastic, but Felix just shrugged his shoulders.

“It’s not like you ignoring my abilities is anything new. Well, think what you want.”

“If you couldn’t notice anything, why on earth were you keeping watch there?”

“Sorry, but it’s not that I didn’t notice. It’s just that Relia was too fixated on other thoughts, so I couldn’t figure out what she was up to.”

“What? What are you talking about?”

Caliph narrowed his eyes at Felix’s cryptic words. Although his gaze strongly urged Felix to continue, instead of answering, Felix let out a deep sigh.

Just that was enough for the Caliph to sense that the forthcoming words would not be pleasant.

When male lead is the homewrecker

“I know she doesn’t love him.”

I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!

The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.

Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.

The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.

I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.

There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.

For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.

I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.

Here’s the story synopsis:

One-line summary: She is his lifelong obsession, to the point where he was willing to be a third wheel, scorned by society, just to wedge his way into her relationship with her fiancé.

Cold-hearted and indifferent female lead + Scheming and subservient CEO male lead

Intro 1:

“I know she doesn’t love him.”

With blood trickling from his clenched fist, Rong Xiu gazed at the woman before him, his eyes clouded with anguish. Hidden in the wardrobe, he had witnessed Fan Xia – the woman he desperately loved – in an intimate embrace with her fiancé. Yet his heart still yearned for her, defying all reason.

Fan Xia, the elegant and composed assistant, carried something mysterious in her eyes whenever she looked at her fiancé, Wen Lan Sheng. Strange occurrences began to surface – secret meetings with the young Gu Jin Yi, an unexplained withdrawal of 5,000 yuan… Then suddenly, her fiancé’s sister, Wen Jing, violently attacked her.

In this matriarchal society, Rong Xiu had risen to become the chairman of a powerful healthcare conglomerate, breaking through gender prejudices. But for the first time, he willingly stepped into the shadows as the other man, disregarding his friends’ warnings to become her secret lover.

Because he had discovered the truth – Fan Xia wasn’t the pure angel everyone believed her to be. And perhaps, he was the only one capable of helping her execute her mysterious plan…

Intro 2:

Rong Xiu’s biggest regret in life was missing out on Fan Xia.

He secretly loved Fan Xia for 7 years.

Watched her go public with her boyfriend.

Watched her kiss her boyfriend at their wedding.

Until that man blissfully nestled in Fan Xia’s arms, obtaining everything he could only dream of.

The crazy jealousy stripped away his hidden secret love, layer by layer, burning like wildfire.

Fan Xia, how can I have you!
