[A reward for your response to Jadis. Perhaps it’s a bribe? It might be enough for you to live without worrying about meals for the next few years.]

It was a witty remark that didn’t match the situation. Thanks to it, the tense atmosphere on Jadis’s face began to gradually fade.

Jadis didn’t miss the chance and added.

[It doesn’t seem appropriate to have a deep conversation here. Can I briefly enter Jadis’s house?]

Although he spoke with a smile, it was a push to decide quickly whether to accept or reject the question of asking for money.

Jadis couldn’t answer readily. But finding someone who dislikes money regardless of their background is not an easy task.
Jadis quickly blinked his eyes and reached towards the pouch. Taking advantage of the opportunity, Jade put the pouch back into his arms. Then, with a bright smile, he spoke.

[That recent action was my understanding of your permission to enter your house. I’ll excuse myself.]

Though Jadis showed a displeased expression, he didn’t stop Jade from entering his house. After the entrance closed and Jade was left alone with Jadis, he brought up the words he had been holding back without hesitation.

[I heard that Jadis raised a child. Of course, it seems the child is not here now, but that’s what I heard.] […As you mentioned, it was just a child I took care of for a while.] [What I’m curious about is where you brought that child from.] [That’s…] Jadis, who seemed ready to answer anything, hesitated as soon as he lowered his momentum. Jade took out the pouch he had put in his arms again. Then, as if waiting for it, Jadis, with his lower lip tightly pressed, began to speak.

The story he heard through Jadis was truly shocking. It was something that made Jade hesitant to convey directly to Edwick.

“Jade.”

Whether he read the inner thoughts or not, Edwick addressed Jade sharply. The breath that Jade had been holding back burst out.

“As Father expected.”

“That means…”

Edwick couldn’t continue his words easily. A strong premonition had already rushed in.

Jade continued his story without holding back.

“Through Lady Jadis, who was close to him, Jadis met a person who had turned his mask around. The person said that if he took care of a child, he would give him a house and money.”

“… At that time, Jadis, who was homeless due to debt, found the offer quite appealing. After making a living, he returned to the nightlife he had quit, and one day, he woke up to find the child had run away.”

Edwick couldn’t help but sigh. But Jade’s words didn’t end there.

“For several years, neither Lady Jadis nor the man who had given him a house and money ever inquired about the child. However, when the child disappeared, they became afraid. If they found out the child was missing, they feared they might lose the house and the money they had been receiving.”

“…”

“So, they discreetly inquired about the child with Lady Jadis. While doing so, they happened to hear that the child was the one Lord Garnet was trying to get rid of.”

Edwick lowered his gaze with a heavy heart. Since Jade used the expression of someone turning his mask around, he had already had a strong conviction. But now that Garnet’s name had come out so explicitly, there was no longer any room for doubt.

The Crown Prince in the palace right now was not Rurian. Khalif Dwight, he was a royal with an unknown lineage who was born without ever being cuddled by his mother and nearly faced death.
Edwick let out a heavy sigh as he rubbed his forehead. He thought that once his speculation became certain, the decision would become somewhat easier, but it remained complicated and challenging.

The Caliph had clearly spoken, pretending to be the Empire’s Crown Prince Rurian. He expressed his desire to make Ibelia an undisputed Crown Princess, eventually molding her into the perfect Empress for the Empire.

There was no need to ponder over the fact that the child held feelings for Ibelia. Even in their childhood, the Caliph’s gaze towards Ibelia was far from casual. Therefore, it was a fact beyond doubt that he harbored dangerous emotions towards Ibelia.

However, what confused Edwick was whether the Caliph knew about the secret of my birth and was pretending to be Rurian.

“What are your thoughts now? Will you tell this truth to Eve?” Jade, with a depth equal to Edwick’s in his eyes, managed to bring up the words with difficulty.

Edwick couldn’t respond immediately. It took a while before he managed to open his mouth.

He replied with a heavy heart, unable to erase his worries, “I need to think about it.”

“Are you considering whether it’s right to tell the truth to Eve?”

Facing Jade’s direct question, Edwick raised his head. After a moment of thought, he slowly revealed his intention.

“I’m talking about whom to meet first among the three.”

When male lead is the homewrecker

“I know she doesn’t love him.”

I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!

The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.

Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.

The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.

I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.

There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.

For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.

I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.

Here’s the story synopsis:

One-line summary: She is his lifelong obsession, to the point where he was willing to be a third wheel, scorned by society, just to wedge his way into her relationship with her fiancé.

Cold-hearted and indifferent female lead + Scheming and subservient CEO male lead

Intro 1:

“I know she doesn’t love him.”

With blood trickling from his clenched fist, Rong Xiu gazed at the woman before him, his eyes clouded with anguish. Hidden in the wardrobe, he had witnessed Fan Xia – the woman he desperately loved – in an intimate embrace with her fiancé. Yet his heart still yearned for her, defying all reason.

Fan Xia, the elegant and composed assistant, carried something mysterious in her eyes whenever she looked at her fiancé, Wen Lan Sheng. Strange occurrences began to surface – secret meetings with the young Gu Jin Yi, an unexplained withdrawal of 5,000 yuan… Then suddenly, her fiancé’s sister, Wen Jing, violently attacked her.

In this matriarchal society, Rong Xiu had risen to become the chairman of a powerful healthcare conglomerate, breaking through gender prejudices. But for the first time, he willingly stepped into the shadows as the other man, disregarding his friends’ warnings to become her secret lover.

Because he had discovered the truth – Fan Xia wasn’t the pure angel everyone believed her to be. And perhaps, he was the only one capable of helping her execute her mysterious plan…

Intro 2:

Rong Xiu’s biggest regret in life was missing out on Fan Xia.

He secretly loved Fan Xia for 7 years.

Watched her go public with her boyfriend.

Watched her kiss her boyfriend at their wedding.

Until that man blissfully nestled in Fan Xia’s arms, obtaining everything he could only dream of.

The crazy jealousy stripped away his hidden secret love, layer by layer, burning like wildfire.

Fan Xia, how can I have you!
