Charlotte hesitated for a moment before answering.

“By chance. I asked once because the fragrance was pleasant.”

“The life in this world doesn’t always have a reason. Yes, I asked something unnecessary.”

It was a few years later that coffee fully settled into its place. It became popular among the aristocrats, thanks to its effects of clearing the mind in the early morning and relieving fatigue.

Charlotte stiffly brushed her chest.

“Are you alright?”

“What?”

“Your chest seemed to be stuffy.”

“I’m fine. But why did you call me this morning?”

“I called you not for any other reason. I heard that you got home late yesterday.”

Was this matter serious enough to reach her grandfather’s ears?

“You have family waiting at home; isn’t it better to be cautious?”

“I, I’ll be careful next time.”

“We’re not trying to confine you. But still, if someone is waiting, you could at least let them know, right?”

To someone, this would have been an obvious statement.

If you’re going somewhere, say so. If you’re going to be late, say so.

However, Charlotte had never experienced these simple things, so even these facts seemed unfamiliar to her.

“I’ll keep it in mind.”

“I also heard about your father. Your father has had the habit of investing his efforts in troublesome places since long ago.”

“Who told you?”

“His Highness the Crown Prince told me directly. He meant not to scold you for being late, so don’t feel resentful towards him.”

Leandro hesitated for a moment before organizing his words.

“With this matter, and the hunting competition approaching soon.”

Leandro pulled out a black box from the drawer and placed it in front of Charlotte.

“It’s a crossbow. It’s loaded with bullets instead of arrows, and it’s not too big or heavy, so it’ll be easy to carry around.”

It was the size that fit into the palm of one’s hand.

“Why this?”

“I think it would be good for you to visit the small game hunting ground.”

“Is my greatgrandfather also attending this hunting competition?”

“With this old body, where can I go? I’ll just send your granduncles, so know that.”

Leandro passed the crossbow to Charlotte.

Charlotte took the crossbow out of the box and held it in her hand. It fit perfectly in her palm.

It was foldable, and when the string was pulled, the crossbow spread sideways.

Up to four bullets could be loaded inside.

“Your granduncles said not to give it to you as it’s dangerous, but you’re not going to shoot people with it, so it’s fine, right?”

(This is the time separator.)

Charlotte took the crossbow late at night and went outside.

“Lord Leandro gave you something dangerous.”

She aimed at the opposite tree as a target and hit it,

Benjamin fiddled with the crossbow and temporarily set up a target opposite.

“Your arms are thin; don’t lose the crossbow carelessly.”

Benjamin wrapped Charlotte’s arm.

His fingers touched her thin arm, and Benjamin widely spread her shoulders.

His body, touching her back, was unusually large. His fingertips were hard.

“Not shooting?”

Benjamin looked down at Charlotte and asked. Only then did Charlotte pull the trigger. The bullet hit the center.

“It has a good impact and high accuracy. It seems easy to use.”

“I’ve never handled a weapon before.”

“Learn now. The operation is simple, and you’ll find it useful somewhere.”

Loading the crossbow was done with one hand. With one hand holding the body of the crossbow, and the other loading it, pulling the trigger sends the bullet flying.

“Don’t shake your shoulders and arms.”

Benjamin fixed her shoulders and arms from behind.

“Your eyes are shaking, Charlotte.”

In a short time, Benjamin precisely grasped the target and the crossbow in front of him. From loading the crossbow, pulling the trigger, and hitting the target, he was smooth in everything.

“Just look at the target with your eyes. The weight has been reduced, hasn’t it? Why is your hand shaking? Don’t shake your wrist. Firmly fix your wrist and pull the trigger. Straighten your shoulders and don’t bend them.”
Benjamin guided Charlotte’s fingers one by one, even to their slightest movements. The crossbow bolt flew quickly and stuck into the target.

“Catching a small animal with such a weapon is quite extravagant.”

“Still, it’s a sufficient weapon to blow off the head of a small animal.”

Benjamin, with a calm tone, corrected Charlotte’s posture again.

“Lift your arm and look at the target again.”

You must get used to the operation beforehand. Benjamin said so, explaining the operation method in detail.

“Learn it well.”

Benjamin mumbled briefly and then smiled faintly.

“If someone bothers you in the future, just shoot them in the head.”

“You’ve become quite aggressive.”

“It’s light and easy to handle, so you, Charlotte, can easily hit it.”

At Benjamin’s whispering words, Charlotte pushed his shoulder without hurting him.

“It’s a hunting competition, Charlotte.”

Benjamin patted Charlotte’s shoulder. From now on, she should try it alone, and he let go of the crossbow.

“Want to try it alone?”

“I’ll try it for now.”
